You are not allowed to leave feedback for freebies as no money changed hands.

You can only leave them rep instead. :)

Really?
Thats a shame, think it would have been nice to give him some feedback for being so kind.
Ok thanks.

Yes........it's a classed as abuse of the feedback system as someone could give out loads of low value items to build up their rating and then go for the big scam and people would be more trusting due to the feedback.

You could just give them some reputation as a reward, that would be the only thing to do really :)

Karma will reward them

I was wondering the same thing, as i did a trade with someone on here but we met face to face. I'm happy with what i have but did think it would be false feedback left, as no postage took place and no money changed hands. What is the ettiquette for straight swaps?

If it is a trade and not just a freebie, then there is nothing wrong with leaving feedback

yes but my thought is that someone could build up a really good feedback and become more "trustworthy" without ever having posted something out ( i'm not saying this is the case with the person i dealt with ) They could go and meet umpteen people and trade small stuff, build up a good amount of feedback and then claim to be selling something of value to maybe a newer member. Newbie pays first as they have no feedback and hey ...scam complete. lol or am i being too suspicious?

Possible, but as this was a trade and all went well, you should leave feedback. I know what you are saying but give a chance i recon. (maybe there should only be a feedback option for sales above a certain value?)

If someone wants your money, they will get it if you don't take the correct precautions. Whether via telephone, fax, text, internet or "Real life".

That's why HUKD advises you very clearly to get and check contact details.

i know this, but i just think it gives a false picture of feedback. .... Mind you i would read through all the feedback left and would be just as wary if all of them were for face to face trades anyway.

if it was done via a thread on the fS/FT board, then you should leave feedback if you swapped items, but the feedback should show this was a face to face deal

Yes it was and thank you, i've never traded, bought or sold anything off here or Ebay before so wasn't sure. :)

Maybe feedback should have a couple more fields - was the person the buyer, seller or was it a trade (1 field) and how much was the item sold/bought for...
