I think the torch should be switched on and everyone can climb up the beam and jump over the fence to escape.

Where did this spring from Syzable?
We can't be in feedback ready to respond to every query and question- a lot of our members have the knowledge to answer the majority and obviously we also monitor the threads. If a discussion on a certain subject is taking place then it's productive for us to see member opinion rather than wading in there from the word go, stating "it's gonna be this way..." and locking the thread.
If there's anything specific you want to ask then PM one of us- you know that because you've asked me a few questions about various things and I helped as best I could.
If you have an actual complaint about the way things are being run then please use the contact us form.

Don't want to jump in & make assumptions, but I think what's meant is that there have been a number of suggestions made in feedback for possible improvements (new forum, change in category names), bugs found (see some of gary_rips threads) etc, & some feedback on the threads (not immediately) whether it's a workable proposition etc from Admin would be appreciated & these would also encourage others to post there where appropriate . :)

Just some examples :

It's not having a go...........it's more tongue in cheek, hence the thread title. (We members who frequent here often being the lunatics). As you know JB, if i have a specific problem then i always go straight to the source for the answer. :)

Just reading through Feedback tonight all i kept seeing was 'any chance of an answer' and the same questions being regurgitated as they hadn't been answered previously.

Just seems we keep asking each other the same questions and giving each other the same answers and rarely get a definitve 'Yes or No' even when a thread has been running a while so the Feedback becomes cluttered with the same issues and rarely now any suggestions regarding the site. When opinions start flying then it usually gets to the point of thread lock before any resolution.

I just felt if there was more feedback forthcoming then this part of the forum could return to how it used to be where it was a hotbed of ideas rather than whinging threads. (like this one most probably. lol)

I always get mistaken for having a go. I'll be quiet now

I agree with what you are saying Syzable & sigma - there has been a distinct lack response to feedback recently and to be honest some of admin's more recent replies here have left a bit of a sour taste, I know that the team are busy and admin has his fingers in many pies but it is a bit rude when a serious feedback thread goes by without any sort of response from the team :-(
banned#6
Yup I agree....seems pointless a lot of the time as we dont get an answer.....when we do, the answer makes zero sense
[admin]#7
I can't guarantee we make sense....

Everything is read and taken on. Sometimes there just isn't much we can add, if it's something we like but can't put in, or something we'll put in but not now, or something that's been brought up before and discussed.
#8
I'm afraid I agree as well, in fact since Admin's "You know the funny thing about feedback is it is the same old faces fighting the same fights with different arguments all the time. I swear there's like 10 members who read this forum that's it." post I hardly bother anymore.
Always used to try as hard as possible to help in all aspects but it seems memories are short and loyalties are not worth a dime.

Shame.

For example though the thread I started here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/263039/posting-links-of-a-mature-nature/

All I was after there is a simple bit of feedback as to what is or isn't acceptable in a link and if slightly more 'mature' themes are acceptable - it shouldn't be hard to put an answer of some sorts - but its as if its been completely ignored. I hope with the nature of BW the site is quite leniant on links to what could be considered adult in nature but just what a little bit of clarification...

Would it be possible to add someting like that to the end of the threads where it's to do with site operation ?

-Sometimes there just isn't much we can add
-if it's something we like but can't put in
-something we'll put in but not now
-something that's been brought up before and discussed

just to close the thread off so to speak ? :)

Liddle ol' me
I'm half expecting people on this thread to suddenly burst into tears.

? What

feedback is really only used by about 20 members and most of the time other members know the answer to the question i think that if a thread is made and the members arent able to answer the question and a moderator hasnt been in the thread with an answer, the op should copy the link to the thread and then use this...

http://hukd.garyrip.com/pm/mod_live.php?admin=1&mod=18839,4280,4577,5628,4493,28153,5311,3977,3045&smod=20706

to contact a mod that is online, ive done this in the past to one of my threads i placed here on feedback and i got responses from both mods straight away.

id say 90% of the topics in feedback are answered by members

he apologised for that quote hotto, but it is correct to a point if u go thru 10 different feedback threads ull see the same names cropping up with answers.

And the above post is a prime example of why the likes of myself feel the way we do and probably why Admin gets exasperated !
Should never be allowed in feedback and I'm extremely surprised it wasn't pulled last night.

The post offers nothing to the discussion other than to try and pour scorn on members who care and in my opinion has been written exclusively to incite and provoke an argument.

Pointless and pathetic and now reported. :x

I understand why Admin wrote that post and TBH somewhat sympathise with him. It just wears a bit thin to get tarred with the same brush especially as a few of us have consistently been trying to provide positive and honest feedback since the site changeover.

That's probably the reason you see a lot of the same names appearing because mostly they were the ones who stuck with and remained loyal to the site.

The apology was accepted but by then I personally feel the damage had been done.
Anyway I've no wish to prolong this discussion but felt your post warranted a reply.

Maybe its me but I think Admins presence and response on feedback has lessened in the past year. I kinda put that down to the comment he made above and that Feedback forum is becoming more like Misc in which many of the responses in a thread have nothing to do with the original post....

Unfortunately, I'm not sure what we can do about it unless as members we try to ensure the posts in the threads stick to the point. Then Admin might feel its productive to contribute....

I agree with most of what has been written. It seems to me that Feedback threads are often left 'unfinished'. Admin you say:
I can't guarantee we make sense....Everything is read and taken on. Sometimes there just isn't much we can add, if it's something we like but can't put in, or something we'll put in but not now, or something that's been brought up before and discussed.

As Sigma says, why not actually say something like, that's a good/unworkable/one to think about idea we will investigate/have a chat about/not be able to do that because ..... ?
Sigma has given some good examples where it's not at all clear why what seem to be good ideas are not implemented.
This thread
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/259289/could-you-please-change-the-default/
seems to indicate that Admin thought the default was 'include expired' - it still isn't as far as I can see.
Perhaps Feedback is becoming more like misc because members do see it as described, tongue-in-cheek, by Sy now-a-days. I have seen very uppity responses when posters have been asked to stay on topic.
I know that suggestions made in Feedback are carried forwards sometimes - the 'Congrats thread' being one. It wasn't a decision I welcomed but it was cogently argued and then put into effect. Surely that is what feedback should always be?
[helper] 1 Like #17
Most feedback threads don't have a conclusion - they just seem tail off.......

Maybe once discussion of a topic has been exhausted - Admin should post a concluding remark about what is going to happen or not happen and then lock the thread. If the thread is locked it stops Admins concluding comments being lost in the middle of a thread....
#18
Both good posts above and gari's suggestion of locking the thread after Admin has made a decision is especially relevant.
Of course though the above assumes Admin actually has the time to read and respond to Feedback threads on a regular basis given other interests and no, that is not sarcasm, just reality.

Time to delegate to a senior Mod perhaps for the nitty gritty and legwork ??

Regards :)

I can't guarantee everything I say will make sense either ;-) so apologies to those who were offended by the nature of my response to some of the comments which preceded it. Perhaps I allowed my 'silly self' to spill over from another tabbed realm... Anyway, I'll try not to let it happen again. No more jokes at my own expense, I can tell you!

And yes, I too agree with the sensible idea of 'respond then lock'
