I guess it would be quite tricky, but imagine could be coded so that the forum prevents you from posting a follow up when you're the last posted within a certain time frame.

Maybe I've not really thought it through :whistling:

There's not that many to be fair, it's just bumps are limited to 3, however you can bump all your threads and fill up the first page with just your deals, not sure if it is even an issue just throwing it down for discussion

I do know what you mean, the rules are easy to follow if you take the time to understand them.

I have to say, i've noticed this a few times before. Its a rare occurance though

Maybe I'm making too much of it, but when I looked on the board a few minutes the whole of page1 was pretty much filled with 2 people FS/FTs

Maybe we need to limit the number of active threads you can have.

A few weeks ago, caught a lot of us by surprise :w00t:

try looking at it from a buyers point of view. As a seller it is annoying when your item gets pushed off the front page, especially by one person with so many threads. But, a buyer may have missed these items, hence the need to bump.

I do agree with earlier arguments that sellers should only be allowed two threads maximum at any one time

Agree with baz, the problem is more people having too many listings which is, after a point, unfair on others - maybe more than 2 but I'd have thought a hard-limit of say 5 active trades was a fair middleground...

I think a limit of 5 threads would be good, give everyone a fair crack

Thinking about it, the "submit engine" could check to see if the seller has more than 5 active threads and tell the user that they need to close old threads before submitting new ones automatically - that way it wouldn't be a rule that had to be enforced - and it would encourage people to close finished threads.

I think there should a limit of one thread per poster, I think you should be allowed to bump once a day.

i agree, its as annoying as when a mod goes on a spree of locking at ops request, it knocks everyone else off the front page, also think its a good idea to allow a limit of so many live threads too, would help with alot of things, including bumping, locking etc,etc

oooops after reading it appears my input wont be appreciated, oh well its here now

Thing is - its not needed. (Perhaps it's a PCB!) All that needs to be done is for the mod to add an edit line to the thread where the OP has asked for it to be locked. That way its clear the mod has complied with the request and the thread doesn't get a completely pointless bump.

eg:

MOD EDIT: Thread locked at the request of the OP.

reasons have been given as to why, and although they make no sense to me and still dont who am i to argue the point, when i ask for mine to be locked i ask for them to be locked without the bump
