Lowering individual vote temps
We'll be lowering the vote temp slightly for individual member votes and deals. The temperature for each deal is dynamically calculated based on several variables but obviously the biggest one is the effect of a member vote. Each member has their own voting power based on their historical interaction on HUKD and deals they've found.
As the site gets bigger and more members vote there is "inflation" in the deal temp as it becomes easier for a deal to become hotter. We play with the hot deal tipping point but also with member vote influence to deflate this from time to time. Right now I think there are too many deals getting hot so we are going to tweak that down a bit (i.e. there's already 5 pages of hot deals today and really we know there aren't that many truly hot deals in a day).
Anyways, this is just a heads up to let you all know :)

Jump to unread Post a CommentThat's why i removed it over an hour ago straight after posting it almost, but you reply with quotes on something 60 minutes after it has been removed. Why just go with what you can see at the time of posting or is the editing button is not worth it?
Are you the second wannabee mod that i have come across in a week, You could always self moderate yourself and not read the Madeline thread? and let the real mods worry about it
fair enough just pointing out a general fact in this thread
Not bothered to be honest on your voting preference but when we have a moderated forum, you feel the need to moderate it yourself by trying to get the thread removed, yet when you are moderated for a deal that this site doesn't deem suitable, you take umbrage and from reading your replies you appear to get upset or have a 'tizzy you probably regard it as a rational explanation of your position, different people have different views on what you may have written though',
I realised you wouldn't see that, that is why I removed that comment about tizzy when i read it back because I realised the type of person that I was replying to.... but once again you quote something removed 60 minutes before you post it

Yes, all are indeed offensive. As are all people with nicknames beginning with 'B'...deary me.
You really need to get out more. Real life is passing you by.
When a 'Glitch' is reported it is of course a Massive Benefit to Consumers (and I'm one of the first to shoot down the shops), however I know for a FACT Branch Managers of a Certain Chain monitor HUKD daily and erradicate/rectify any Glitches immediately -interestingly enough I can't remember the last time this retailer had an 'Active Glitch' lasting for any amount of time.
My proposal is for Members not to Post the Retailers name in full but to 'disguise/encrypt' e.g. 'Woolworths' could be listed as *ool*orths; Any users should list the Same Retailer differently e.g. W**lwo**hs. Granted this makes genuine users 'Search' a little bit tricky, but makes it extremely difficult for a Retailer to pinpoint and correct their 'glitches' - for the same reason 'Glitch' needs to be worked around... Many Thanks

If you are looking to create a new "Misc" thread, try this hyperlink:

...or a new "Feedback" thread:

What you propose sounds like subject matter for a "Misc" thread, though.
BFN,

I fail to see how your proposal would add anything to the site and indeed I think it could/would actually make the search facility even more erratic than it already is.

trust me....search cant get any worse than it already is!
A better way would be to increase the temperature at which a deal is considered hot.
If we could all see how many COLD/HOT votes each deal received, it would prove useful. The insistence that some here have greater voting rights/powers means the system is, by definition, skewed/false. ie it isn't one man/woman, one vote. With a running total of votes (a 'Vote Counter'), we can see what the 'true' voting is.
For example: Let's assume a deal is showing with + (positive) Degrees. The counter shows us that it has received 9 HOT votes and 11 COLD. One would assume therefore that the deal 'should' be in minus figures (cold). But the fact that some members have a greater power of voting and they have voted the deal 'hot', means that those 'Hot Votes' outstripped the 'Cold Votes' making the deal 'positive' (HOT). In a fair, one man/woman, one vote system, the deal would actually be showing as Minus (COLD).
So can we have a 'VOTE COUNTER' please in order for us all to make a truly informed decision on deals?
Thank you.
