Constructive input there. Cheers
#3
Swearing and aggressive behaviour is much more constructive eh....

Bazz is right, your message will be edited and it is a family forum (especially as your in the feedback forum!).

Have to say I agree with you to a point (I think users should be allowed to remain locaction anonymous if they desire but the OP in a FS post really should state the rough location if collection is an option).
#5
I think Collection should always be an option, and that the first post should always have collection from in it. I'm sure with the introduction of a template this will be sorted
#6
Good point, I agree
#7
I too requested location to be put in For Sale posts a few months back, nothing happened.

I agree 100% with you, it is annoying
#8
Yep it seems standard on other forums
#9
Personally I'd rather not have to give out my location, or my eBay Name or any other personal indentifiers on a Public forum. If people want to know those things they can always pm me.

Then you shouldnt be trading here

Then you shouldnt be trading here

why, you can pass the ionfoprmation on privately with the person your dealing with and the mods, the whole world dont need to know it..

its to prove their reliability before the sale, by handing it over after the deal is reached is really a watse of time, people offer due to the sellers feedback most of the time
#13
Its just annoying as it appears that people don't put there location in so they get a free bumpage out of people. I'm not asking for you to put in you exact address. Just something like London/Manchester/Near Newcastle etc. I don't see why this would be a problem.

They can easily ask for the information before any deal is done.

Again, the information can be asked for via pm, which wouldn't give any bumpage. And seriously, even if someone gets a free bump out of it, is that the end of the world?

It would probably be fine for the locations you have given, but not everyone lives in or near a highly populated city. Combine a location that's in a not so populated area with information about a person gathered from things they have said in the Misc forum and it would be quite easy to track some people down. Until you have had a cyber stalker (and I hope you never do), you won't understand just what lengths some people will go to, to find out information about you, nor the trouble/stress it causes.

The same with say having to put your eBay ID, again for most people, this will probably be fine, but there have been many cases where dodgy sellers/buyers have tracked eBay members across message boards and have caused no end of hassle/hurt to the person involved, and disruption to the message board in question.

This is still a problem.

Can we make it a field on the FS/FT template, like AVForums do, then only the FS/FT people have to display it, if you don't post a thread in there then you don't have to disclose your information.

Anyone that doesn't like it, well, they're not forced to trade on here.

Ah we meet again......

Seriously though, your argument doesn't really hold that much water. If I wanted to find out where you live I could just agree to buy something off you, get your phone and address details (as per trading guidelines) and it's game over......

Simple as that. Scary eh?

Hey, you were warned by the judge not to get within 5 posts of me! :p

Yeah, but you would have to have some reason to suspect it was me in the first place. The point I was making was, by giving your location, you are publically narrowing down the possibilities of who that person is.

And like you say, the info can be asked for via pm anyway if needed (or the seller can put it in their post if they want), so is there any need to make mandatory? :)
