A maximum of three concurrently open "For Sale / Trade" threads?

I suspect Adam2050 may be against that suggestion.

as expected , perhaps one rule for one and one for another.. But for too long there have been a plethora of threads for the same stuff inundating the for sale forum, and it does get rather tiresome after a while, but if anyone can post what they like and loads of it, nothing is going to change much ..

I think in essence Mr B has offered an option but I think a much stronger filter for the search would be better ..

in relation to the unfair comments that fp has and is sustaining, why do we feel we need to stoop this low? Its a forum where we all have in reason the ability to say what we like within the rules of the site, and yes we all have posters who we all take a dislike to , but fairs fair, and enough is enough.. If people feel so strongly that they have to abuse anyone .. forward it my way as I am more than happy to take the abuse if it saves other posters being targeted and no I am not reporting any posts or running to the mods.. I just feel the bickering and cheap shots are beginning to wear thin.. banter yes.. abuse no..

I love you all

Good point and well presented DC.

Why some people stoop so low is beyond me, if you don't appreciate what another member post's the solution is quite simple really "DO NOT READ IT". A post of annoyance to you could be another member's saviour. Grow up for heaven's sake.

This is feedback.. deleting the petty arguments and off topic comments

Boothy we'll have a chat about the filters, although using the custom feed would allow you to omit "kids" items and only view what you want

I'd like to see this rule implemented. Surely if you are having a mass clearout and want to make money then you can use something like eBay. If you are just trying to clear a few things for personal use then 3 threads on here should be more than enough.

I'm seeing a lot of more than 3 clothing threads per user on the go.

If that's the case Syzable report them and they will get actioned. :)

Maybe some people don't have the bread for such things at present.

wow - that really takes the ****.

some people just abuse FS and they seem to be the ones who never actually post any deals.

BAN EM I SAY!

No apparently it's ok to single out long standing members as long as you are part of the moderation team clique.

and said user never bothers to post a deal lol

no way does someone have that many items for sale each week unless they are a business, selling for others, or know a few toe-rags who do their shopping for free ;)

Where did I say you had?

Whilst you are on perhaps you can help us to understand why you do not group your items together in less threads?

which is why decent members unlike yourself who have respect for other sellers are lobbying for a rule change

We'll have a look at this in some detail, I'm not sure what the perfect solution is at present.

We don't want to prohibit sellers from listing unwanted items. Whilst the custom tab can be used to ignore certain topics, some find it a bit cumbersome.

I'll leave this thread open for now, should others wish to add their views.

I could stoop to your level and retaliate but I really suggest you keep your opinions to yourself, I am none of the things you have suggested and not that I need to justify myself to you but I am a full time mum with a small part time job and every few months I try to sell some items to put towards a purchase. This time being a spa trip for my upcoming birthday.
If you or anyone else does not like my threads or other peoples I suggest you simply skip by them and keep your nasty comments and opinions to yourself.

Likewise you wonder why I have only posted one deal it's because there are always people like yourself eager to shoot people down, hence often it is a lot easier to sit back. But if there are some rules that suggest I need to post deals in order to sell items on this site then gladly point the way.
#27
3 threads with 10 feedback available from each = 30 items listed in one go

If anyone can justify why normal private sellers need more than this in one go and cannot show courtesy to users of a FREE resource I will gladly apologise
#28
But I put maybe 10 threads on ever couple of months why should I be scorn for that! And I do post deals z
[mod]#29
Why not split fo.lk and the FS/FT on here? I don't think fo.lk has exactly been a roaring sucssess and most people use this site.

So instead why not move all the heavy users and clothing etc over to fo.lk and free up the FS/FT here for occasional sellers.

Just have a rule that no-one can have more than 3 FS threads open at any one time. People can then bunch their items in one thread if they have more than 3 items. People bumping 20 threads each day is just selfish in the extreme.

3 threads max - problem solved.

I agree with this.
Perhaps you can tailor the amount of threads also on how long they have been a member.

For example:

Newbies can only have 1 listing at any 1 time.
After 1 year membership, this goes to 3 listings at any one time.
After 2 years membership this goes to 5 listings at any one time.

If you want to list more items, you woudl have to lock one or all of your existing listings for 3 days before creating a new one.

Syzable's idea is also a good one too...
#32
Totally agree with the 3 threads at a time thing, why should it be ok to post beauty product after beauty product on their own, or DVD, game, toys etc but not clothing?

It's ridiculous that people post everything seperately.

And as someone else has stated it's my account I ill do as I please until anything else changes xxx

P.s I sell my low value tat as you call it because unlike some people some of us cannot afford to go out buying expensive items so have to sell bits like this to make extra money x

Why not look at why you are buying stuff only to resell it as BNWT / BNIB? Surely more effective than trying to recoup some of your losses.

Further to birdyboyuk's & Syzable's suggestions above, would an enhancement to the "ignore" list functionality help here?

Presently just comments from the members logged in an individual's "ignore" list are not displayed in full in a thread (but can be revealed if desired).

However, if any forum threads (deals for sale/trade, feedback, etc.) created by a member flagged as "to be ignored" were removed from the specific forum summary view then those that do not wish to see "20ish threads of tat" that one member has listed can choose to not display them.

Perhaps restrictions per forum (i.e. just Deals, or just For Sale/Trade items, or just Feedback threads) only, but I appreciate this may make the Profile page to ignore users more complex.

Those that have previously raised exception to certain members listing Deals for savings of a low number of pence can ignore these Deals.

boothy could even ignore, for example, Feedback threads created by certain members.

...Thoughts?

stop trying to over complicate things please

ignore list is nothing to do with this, start yet another thread for that

apart half of what you have wrote being totally incomprehensible to most normal people,a simple extension of the 3 thread rule for clothing to everything is all that is needed here, and most people apart from the serial FS abusers agree

Would love to know where you get your info, as it happens I work full time in a nursery where I am given a lot of presents for christmas, children leaving etc but due to do personal taste and sensitive skin and unable to use most, hence sell on and put money towards more useful things - such as a holiday :p, or next time I'll just say to the children, Oh sorry I don't want that I don't like it !!!!!!
