i dont think it should be a problem unless you name and shame...why not make us aware. I meet so many nice people on here you forget that some people are out to scam you!..posts like this are good just to remind us to be careful..thanks naeem 786!!

Yea it would be an issue but personal details such as name, address and telephone number which need to given out anyway, once these are verified at least there is sone back up there! The rules do state to get these but even if they do does the person actually ring up and confirm its them?

It will just be good to have some sort of security here? As HUKD was not created for buying/selling and is juts something on the side thats why loads of scammers get attracted to join on here!

If my experience is anything to go by then I think when people report a post as suspicious there ought to be a bit more of innocent until proven guilty. My FS post was reported, expired and locked and I received a warning. For all of that - no-one bothered to check any facts! I would have been more than willing to give name address and landline number. My post was genuine (I understand why it was reported and that's fine - but why no chance for me to prove myself? Sorry to go on but I think there are 2 sides to these stories. I agree people should be very careful and use the guidelines when buying.

HUKD should have some rules and guidelines and post them on the top page of every single "For Sale/Trade" thread.

OP
I know you have to get all the details off them, but some (most) dont asnd loose out and cannot do anything about it.

The guides say that people should have contact details, and explain how to obtain these. They're also in a big red banner that says "STOP" and tells people to read/understand/follow guidelines before trading. There's not a lot more we can do if people don't have this information before sending cash; if you send money to a scammer without getting their contact details first then they're hardly going to give them to us afterwards if we ask them nicely...

I know you have set out everything which is good, I also know there is nothing that you can do! I was trying to get people to get some ideas!!

It gets very complicated when you post a negative comment on a very misleading sale item and my comment gets deleted.

I thus had to 'leave it alone' when I knew someone was getting ripped via a very misleading description.
I just made a topic in the Computer section which was instantly moved to the black hole of 'feedback'.

Nonsense is busy though.
A mod reply was 'There are different rules on the For Sale/trade.
Well there is a point to that but if the mod does not understand aspects of the item this becomes well, nonsense.
