Thanks Gary for reporting it, we removed both of theirs earlier.

They'll more than likely to get a ban, but we're awaiting for a return PM first to see if it's the correct course of action.

We have banned companies for this in the past Gary. Your vigilence is appreciated, in spotting things like this :)

You can normally tell because...

1. Its a rubbish deal

2. They normally have the company in their name lol

That might be right, but we do give the benefit of the doubt before a decision is made ;-)

Yes these are often posted on a thread asking for advice about PC deals...I've reported a few myself and as you say gary they are usually a total rip off because they sense the poster has no knowledge of PC specs/prices...in most cases they may be correct.

The biggest potential abuse is them pm'ing members with no knowledge asking for help on the deal request board: wont be noticed and may well result in a sale.

Mate I think the mods have got this sort of thing covered well and truly.

I reported one a while back, this guy kept giving advice in the deal request section regarding PC's. He seemed like a great guy and built his post count up to a small but healthy amount.

But after a week or so I realised that everytime he kept giving people help he was shoving in this link to a site I had never ever heard of. Eventually I searched his post record and 80% were pimping this site, but he did it very cleverly. The only way I noticed was because I try to price match and do a lot of searches for members in this particular field. And after a period of time I realised that he never ever pointed people to any other site.

I contacted a 'Mod' and they looked into it and within hours his posts were pulled and his site has never been pimped since, so the 'Mods; have got this one spot on from what I can gather.

Well we only have the power to pull threads and we try to catch as much as we can but we do need every member's eyeballs to catch these because you guys will spot more than we will. So please do contact us/report a post if you suspect suspicious behaviour.

We have blocked a lot of merchants from this forum already for self-promo/spamming and I suspect it is only going to keep getting worse so we do need your help keeping the forum objective and spam free!

So would PCbuyit get a ban now? i.e no future deals of theirs would be posted by members or self promo?

If we remove a post and warn a merchant and then find it happen again we will ban the mention of their site on HUKD even by members that don't have a connection to the site.

At the point a merchant is that unethical and careless about others it is the point we do not want them recommended to HUKD members.

But again competitors could use that to remove rivals from this site by impersonation?
Still abuseable.
[admin]#14
Yes everything is abuseable. I'm not saying anything is hard and fast or "zero tolerance - no exceptions" but these are the guidelines we work on and we really do appreciate/need member help in spotting any spam.

Feel free to close this thread.

That's another thing about HUKD... we don't close threads in case they get abusive and it's absolutely necessary. That way, if you need to bring light to something again then you can. This site wouldn't be anything without the great community here to support it.
