Is gud engrish more impotent than sense of humour?

Looks like a great opportunity for the right candidate. I'm always glad to see HUKD expanding ;)

Why not just say how much ? Why is it hidden behind
determined by your experience and writing skills

Hoping to get a bargain of course

I look forward to this website. Smartphones are becoming an absolute necessity in life, and this site will hopefully fulfil our iPhone/Android/BB/WP7 hunger :)

I hope you are going to differentiate yourselves from Mobot, Inc. (& perhaps also from Mobot Limited; a Company [Number: 05159502] dissolved on 29 December 2009), as it appears that the similar name may lead to some confusion.

http://www.linkedin.com/company/mobot

Mobot, Inc. provides visual search and recognition technology for mobile devices. Its tools enable marketers, content providers, and carriers to make it easy for consumer with a mobile device to interact with their environment. The company was founded in 2003 and is based in Lexington, Massachusetts. Mobot, Inc. earlier operated as a subsidiary of NeoMedia Technologies Inc

Mobot is led by a world-class management team with entrepreneurial and executive expertise in mobile technology, visual recognition, internet content and services, advertising, marketing and media.

Russell Gocht, Founder and CEO

Russell Gocht founded Mobot in September 2003 to pursue the application of recent advances in image processing to the market opportunity represented by the rapid adoption of camera phones in the consumer marketplace. He recognized early on that wirelessly enabled image capture capability in the hands of 100s of millions of consumers could be harnessed to create new applications and solve critical usability constraints inherent to mobile devices. Russell conceived the vision for Mobot while on staff at Atlas Venture as Entrepreneur in Residence in 2002 and 2003...

Have you checked that "Mobot" is not a registered trademark or is part of any existing, or pending, copyrighted material in any way (both in the UK & overseas)?

How can you guys afford to pay people a salary. How does this place make money?

When people submit links to the site, those retailers who have affiliate programs, the links are amended to include hukd tracking so hukd is paid between 1%-10% per of the total purchase cost. Thats how they make money.

This site seems like a very good idea and a great addition to the network.

As much as i would like to be a part of this, senior editor wouldn't be for me. Will you be employing other staff to just write up a few things here and there?

Off topic, HTC Desire HD best smartphone to date, hands down.

Hi Daf. We will possibly be needing other staff, but not 100% sure yet as to what the exact requirements are. Feel free to forward a CV and covering letter which we could consider when we launch. Thank you.

I believe HUKD and Quidco are closely linked (if not the same company).

i dunno some people.......how does google make billions, referrals.....sellers and this site have contracts to agree to pay a referral fees of varying types.....some are tiny (0.001 per referral or less) but soon add up when you get 000,000's or millions per day....same goes for facebook whose founder is worth $4billion (which is quite amazing for a 6 year old business)

look up the worlds richest internet companies though its probably harder and easier business in some ways.....harder to keep current as unlike traditional businesses you could be out of favour in an hour but easier as in theory fewer expensive distributed sites to control

Understandable, apologies for going a bit off topic in here, was just a bit shocked to find out people have been getting paid for that level of writing.

Thank you for the invitation to discuss it further.

I think it's a worthwhile topic to cover, especially considering there's the danger of the same mistakes being repeated with Mobot. I hope that doesn't happen, seeing as the idea has potential.

Here's a link to a thread i made on this topic in Misc. if anyone else is interested http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/bitterwallet-dealspwn-playpennies-m/843991

Good luck with the search, I hope there's a decent probation period to weed out the chaff.

this websites makes SO much money... thousands a day when a mobile phone contract deal is posted especially

all they do is wait for people to submit the deals and get paid by the websites for it, so they do very little and earn a lot

Ah Didn't realise you had unlocked this thread.

What is the Salary? (if your not willing to voice it on here, could you respond via pm please)
What is required (Home or Office)?
Testing products required?
Any other posititions opening up for part time help? (Blogging etc)

Might have a friend who could be interested in the position.
Cheers

I take exception (certainly in respect of the Moderation team) to your comment that "they do very little".

How do you know how much is made per day? Do you have sight of sales figures or accounts for HotUKDeals?

Maintaining the web site[s] (no matter what you think of the presentation & performance) is not free.

If your friend is interested, please ask him to get in touch. Thanks.

We've been getting a few CVs from people inquiring about junior positions too, so anyone is welcome to forward their CV at any time.

Another bloody site I'll have to check every day!!! :p

I thought the introduction of the Mobiles section here would mean I wouldn't have to wade through all the mobile phone deals, but after khy86's excellent find I'm checking that section as much as Gaming and Computers.

Not sure about "you will provide engaging content for our savvy consumers". What about the luddite eejits that make up the rest of us?

Anyway, good luck to all who've applied.

I'd love to do this but, I have no piece of paper saying I can do it.

I love my gadgets and I love writing... BLEH!

have to disagree on that. feature packed, however I found the build quality less than desirable :(

A few points:

No real closing date as such, we're just looking for the right person
We may require junior staff, moderators, but won't know exactly what we need until we launch

Please get anyone interested in helping out to forward CVs. Thanks.

From a reader/consumer point of view there are many mobile review/news websites:
http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/
mobileburn etc etc.

Surely HUKD could just have a blog done by volunteers/people already there, "borrowing" but crediting such mobile news items etc not to mention AP/Reuters/Google news etc, to advertise your amazon gift service and other services which revenue can be streamed from for the owners of HUKD.

Just a thought, personally, in this economic climate, paying for another salary seems risque instead of securing what you have, but I don't know the business dynamic and configuration in place behind HUKD, but given how badly the new HUKD site was implimented it seems to me you need better coders not new sites and editors for new sites, but it seems the money has been secured for new associated ventures instead of improving what is already there.

I can understand why this might be done but how many sister blog sites do you need???
From a bean counting point of view which is my backround and my knowledge of other blog sites, this seems an unnecessary expense, but one hopefully where I am completely wrong and turns out to be successful and worthwhile in the long run, if not just to sustain and maintain HUKD in the long term, despite the fact that I miss the old HUKD before it was so successful"

Just my tuppence, I'll be mentioning this job offer to a couple of friends of mine so it should get circulated a small amount by me and no doubt lots of others too from HUKD.

Good Luck:)
