This kind of thing really puts this site to shame. People got to the trouble of finding a good deal and because someone believes it is a duplicate post - its gone with the click of a button. Time for a revolution.....

You mean it's not a duplicate of this thread which says instore/online - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/565139/archos-605-30gb-digital-media-playe :whistling:

No its not a duplicate of that one because at the time that deal was posted it was not online - I know because I tried to get it online within about 10 minutes of it being posted. It was instore only if you read all the comments in the post

I know but it's been updated to show it's now online which is what is meant to happen to save the same deals clogging up the boards.

Most likely without the OP posting that deal then the other one wouldn't have been searched out later on.

If that is what has happened then I apologise, but if the previous deal was instore only at the time, unless you are searching for Archos or HMV then you will not know it now is available online, without this new posting.

Surely if the deal changes and it now becomes available online it should be updated and start again from today so it gets maximum viewing and is then more relevant. Why would I view an old post that was instore only and a week old and not relevant to me because my local store dont have the item. Because I saw the "duplicate" post I brought it, when I wouldnt have seen it otherwise.

Hope that makes sense.

It does. :)

What usually happens when it's updated is someone will post in the thread again and it will then bump the thread back up to the top of the page in the discussed tab where hopefully people will spot it. Unfortunately there is no way it can be bumped up again on the front page though without it being reposted as it can only be sorted by most recent or hot.

As said above though, it's unusual that the mods will remove it as most often than not it's the members that spma the thread as a dupe.

Total respect for taking the time and effort to explain in a polite civilised way. Happy New Year Sy, deserved rep when allowed :)

Location says it all really :)

No nothing wrong with debate, but your attitude was a bit out of order until it was clear you were wrong. Putting the site to shame etc etc... any real need?

At the risk of debating the point and being criticised further I still feel that the "deal" is now not easy to find for us non expert HUKD users. A new post which is up to date would reach the masses far more effectively than it does now. I would imagine that most users either look at whats new or whats hot. This deal now appears several pages down the hot section. Or several posts down the discussed section. I am sorry if my attitude causes offence as it wasn't meant to. I do think HUKD is the best forum out there for deals and will continue to use it - if I am allowed...

but if they allowed any updated deal to be posted again e,g, it's now available online etc, then there won't be many hot deals. It would be just repeats. If someone wants to find archos deals they can use the search (or try). The older post is still relevant so no reason for a new one...

HUKD can only be relevant and informative if the members use it properly, and by spamming the thread they have used the site tools properly. The spamming means a mod doesn't have to deal with the thread and can get on with posting deals and infracting people
