I would imagine that upvotes for Ask threads and general likes for comments for threads in Misc are not always given for the same reasons. I think there isn't really a need to transfer them across.

I would imagine that upvotes for Ask threads and general likes for comments for threads in Misc are not always given for the same reasons. I think there isn't really a need to transfer them across.

However, when a "Misc" thread is transferred to the "Ask" Forum, all the comments that had previously been recorded (those that are typically deemed 'acceptable' & often attract "Likes") within the "Misc" Forum, then seem to be down-voted.

It does give the impression that the site's members are not offering helpful advice, & may give an overall poor impression of the site

This was the opposite of what was intended when the "Ask" Forum was introduced. Catch "Internet traffic" from searches performed for questions with matching keyword criteria with the eventual purpose of converting the passing observers (potential punters) to full-revenue generating members.

Perhaps when a thread is transferred (from "Misc" to "Ask") all previous comments should be removed.

If a thread has attracted, say, ten comments at the point of consideration for relocation, then the relocation should not take place at all.
