sorry - there is a mixture - most of the posts have more than one thing on - the older ones i bumped don't as i had just started selling and was unsure how to do it.

I haven't posted many deals today - but usually i spend a fair amount of time most days finding deals and listing what i think are good deals - i have not just used the site to sell items - that is relatively new to me.

Not moaning - but just trying to explain why it seems there are lots of posts - it sjust i bumped them all tonight.

Mentioning no names *cough*lucerysmum*cough*

If the seller happened to be lucerysdad/lucerysUncle, and selling xbox/ps3 related items, there wouldn't be much of a fuss made. Clothes sellers have as much right to sell as any other member. Not once can I recall a single complaint from 'clothes' sellers regarding the item types of other members.

Instead consider using fo.lk and or a combination of filters here to exclude such items from your custom tab.

That said, I've had to curtail a few clothes sellers recently. Some as just as cunning as the console traders. I'm sure you've seen a reduction.

Next time, please try not to make it a personal attack on a member. You should stick to the subject in general or report it in private for consideration.
suspended#5
Yeah i agree, i avoid listing multiple For Sale threads as much as possible, and think that people should not list hundreds of seperate threads.
However i just enjoyed a 1 day suspension for the privilege of having 2 active For Sale threads at the same time, even though i had waited the required time to relist.
Yet there are so many sellers with loads of active threads and they can still do it.
Sucks man.

anybody tell me how to filter out baby stuff? agree with OP btw,but unfair to single out one poster, there's been several with lots of single item threads.

DarkKnight,

You need to get your own house in order. If you're only managing one thread why is it so hard for you to report a thread closure before relisting.

The final 2 are infractionable offences. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Please take time to review the full fs/ft rules prior to any further listings.

this is the very reason I no longer view the FS forum in my custom view.

No idea what ASB is going on about if he thinks we can just restrict the CLOTHING sub-category from our views cos we cant. Its all FS or nothing.

It really needs sorting. Someone shouldnt be allowed to have more than say 5 FS threads open at any one time. Some people solely use this site as their own personal free ebay site.

I have to pop out, but I'll link instructions shortly.

In the meantime:

click Customise Deals and Alerts
Select For Sale from the Forums List
Select All from Category with the exception of Clothing (Or make your own preferences on what to include)
Amend filtering/sorting options to suit.
Click Save.

Next time you click on the Custom Tab, you'll only see FS items that are not marked up as Clothing.

Let me know if stuck - got to dash but will return later.

i'm not going to name names but it wasn't you.

Don't take this personally as you have done nothing wrong it's just that some people think (myself included) that there should be a limit to the amoun of active threads a user can have so everyone has a level playing field and other users threads aren't wiped off the front page in an instant by someone bumping their 7or 8 threads at once.

Again it's not directed specifically at you.

I tried this and it doesn't work, I'm still seeing everything in FS forum.

I would also have to agree with some of the other users that a limit on the number of active FS threads per user should be restricted.

thanks mate - its just i have only started doing much selling in the last few days - i have spent loads of time posting deals over the time i have been a member and it just seems everyone makes assumptions on one post by someone who hasn't posted a deal for a long time - i don't mean to have a go at you either - just thought this was a friendly site where we helped each other with good finds - and to be singled out and named for something i did one night - rather than the all of the deals i have posted - rep'd you for your support - thanks for explaining.

ASB doesn't work fella for FS/FT, needs adding to developers list.

To be honest traders need a restriction on listings, as some go to extremes when posting. As it's free it would only be fair to have restrictions, another persons item in discussed hasn't got a chance versus some.

This is why I suggested a long time a go a real think on the layout of fo.lk to follow a totally different route to what is currently in operation.:)

If i had the skills to do so I would give you an example.

this worked for me although now I no longer see any clothing 'deals'. Still, at least I dont have most of the pages filled up with mothercare goods :-D

Strange, though there has been a few strange things going on of late.

Some expired threads I can no longer see, and some I can only see in my commented threads.

Then I have deals disapearing.

Database problems.

I agree with this also - someone has just listed 5 separate listings for clothes - not complaining about it being clothes - just why couldnt she put them on the same listing

Adam2050,

I've had similar experiences, usually as a result of clicking the filters to include/exclude expired - online/offline deals. I've sometimes done this inadvertently hence my initial confusion. Perhaps it's just the same situation for you:?

Cheers

i really think its unfair that ppl do this. if someone was to list 10 dvds in different threads it would just be as bad. it needs to be limited to 3 or maybe 4 active threads at once.

another 7 threads just bumped, seems to be individual items as well. really can't see how this fair to other users.

I've suggested an alternative many times. Either use the custom tab to exclude categories you don't wish to see or use the filter at the top of each screen to exclude expired items.

If you don't want to play about with your settings that apply to all forum categories, use the custom tab to select only the FS/FT category and include/exclude expired as per your preference.

Happy to demonstrate if anyone requires further info.

The bulk 'bumps' referred to above may appear to be a bit top heavy, however the mod in question had to take some action whilst reviewing the threads. A lock may have been sufficient, however we then get flooded with queries from members requesting info on why the lock was applied. It may have been simpler to append to the last post, however as mods usually subscribe to 'posted' threads (for review) this was deemed to be the simpler option. Given that it was very early morning posts, combined with the expectation that users will by default exclude expired threads from FS/FT, I don't think there was any detriment to the board.

Fo.lk offers more listings per page and I'd recommend that at the default platform for FS/FT/Wanted/Free listings.

it doesn't matter what tabs or filters are used, the fact remains members are allowed as many active threads as they want regardless of which category they come under. if i exclude the kids category it doesn't mean that someone won't or is not allowed to post and bump 7 or 8 threads in the entertainment category. by limiting the number of active threads a user can have is in my opinion a much easier and fairer way of doing it.
