I'm a experienced IT user and have had the Internet for around 10 years. The old site was great, all I'm interested in is saving some money on my shopping. I don't care for the fanciness of the site, it could be text only for all I care!
It takes so long to find the most recent deals/most recent discussions now I don't even bother visiting from work which I used to do all the time.
The site is no longer friendly for new users who might be visiting from a very old computer looking for a deal on a new computer, I appreciate some effort has gone into the design as I know how complex vBulletin is but it seems to be a bit of a wasted effort when the time could have been better spent optimizing the servers or even going through the old code and cleaning it up a bit. A complete rewrite just seems a bit overboard really.
And what happened to the beta testing or transistion period? On a site which, at peak times, has 3000 - 4000 visitors you can't simply just overwrite the old site and expect users to 'get used to it'. If you had asked for feedback by inviting established users to the beta.hotukdeals domain then the change would have been a lot more positive. If I changed someones living room furniture without telling them first do you think they would be happy?
There was no rush to implement a new site and to put it in at perhaps the busiest time of the year for shopping is commercial suicide. Lets just hope Quidco dosen't get a similar new look!
Now I'm off to the £1 shop to get a magnifying glass so I can see what I've just typed!
