As with anything, change can take a while to get used to but this will eventually make the deal submit process a lot easier, as well as helping to avoid the increasing problem of duplicate deals etc..

* Click “Submit”

http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t125/juliet_bravo/Step1.jpg

*Step 1-

Select the relevant topic

http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t125/juliet_bravo/Step2.jpg

*Step 2-

Enter the URL / direct link to your deal... for example

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Twilight-Saga-Stephenie-Meyer/dp/1904233651

http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/5808/gifphpw.gifSee post 3 for details on what to do if your deal is flagged as a duplicatehttp://img841.imageshack.us/img841/5808/gifphpw.gif

Duplicate posts

http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/5808/gifphpw.gif If you use a previously used link/URL, your post will be flagged as a duplicate and this screen will pop up:

http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t125/juliet_bravo/Duplicate-1.jpg

* If the suggested duplicate is the same as the one you're adding, check out the original deal- see how long it's been on site etc. If it's older than a month then you can go ahead and repost.

* If you don't think the suggested duplicate is in any way relevant to the deal then please let us know as it may be a bug.

* If you think your deal is original and not a repeat post, then doublecheck and click "No, Not a Duplicate."

* If your deal is a duplicate, then click the relevant button.

List? I saw it and hit my head when I realised how bad it was.

It doesn't seem to pick up duplicate deals that are found by searching on some sites, for example I searched for Rocky box set on Amazon knowing Rayman had already posted the deal and came up with the URL

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rocky-Complete-Saga-Disc-Box/dp/B000W668R6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1251913534&sr=1-1

which the new system didn't catch as a dupe as obviously the URL would be different to the direct link.
[admin]#11
Yeah we tend to trim amazon links atm so that's a good point barneydog.
This is still a work in progress and obviously isn't going to be 100% but hopefully it will help the situation with dupe postings.
#12
Cheers for the answer JB, perhaps you can put a note in the guide above that a manual search should still be done as people who aren't experienced with the site may rely on it and assume that their deal cannot be a dupe if the system doesn't pick it up (especially as the example in posts 2 and 3 are for Amazon :whistling:)
#13
trying to post a deal, but unable!
#14
post a link thing isn't working
[admin]#15
Can you explain what issues you're having sashicee?
#16
ok sorted now
#17
At the select Merchant bit, there is no drop down list for me!
#18
It did it first time I wanted too. So I selected the submit again. Think there might be some problems with the scripting.
#19
If you are using IE8 you may have some problems selecting a merchant, it should be fixed soon.
#20
The IE8 problem should be fixed now.
#21
The new submitting method it terrible. The boxes dont line up properly and if you put and incorrect link you have to start from scratch, doesnt let you just change the link!

This is in IE 6 - which I use as Im at work and they dont plan to upgrade it for a while! Posting a voucher.

There have been a few IE probs, most have been ironed out now but there may still be some bugs
#23
Just noticed it - great improvement:thumbsup:
#24
Just tried listing a joke in Misc and came back with 'No thread specified' or similar, noticed that in the link was a zero instead of the 6 digit number... Using IE6 at work so could be an issue with that but I would hope that it would keep compatibilty because of how slow some companies are with upgrades
#25
Dont like it, far too complicated for new members etc, they just want to post a deal and be told their mistake if they make them so they wont make them again. I think the old was better, but it I agree, will probably sort of stop dupes, but whats to stop people just going ahead and post it anyway?
#26
What do with a deal I may (and it's a tentative may) benefit from? Is it 'contact us'?
[mod]#27
Only just noticed this.............much better. :) Hopefully will stop people listing in the wrong forum now as well as it's simples.

Not sure if this is the right place to go for help, but here goes...
I'm trying to post a voucher deal, but when I input the link I get the "duplicate deal" message coming up (it's not a duplicate) but no buttons underneath saying yes or no it's not a duplicate, so I can't get any further... Only posted one deal before, so not sure if I'm doing something wrong...?

sometimes the link that you post had already been posted before as a voucher, try navigating to a different part of that site, so the link changes, and then post that new link.

Thanks!
Doesn't it seem a bit silly though, as I'd have to direct people to a specific product, rather than just the front page. Shouldn't it be possible to post different vouchers for the same site, particularly as the deals it brought up have expired...?
I just didn't understand why it didn't bring up the option to click "no, it's not a duplicate"?

No its ok, it goes to the homepage

I do agree with you though, the system does have flaws, which, I'm sure the developers will be working on
#32
Ah I see... Thanks a lot for clearing that up!

I've been trying to follow the instructions for posting a new deal but they don't seem to work at the moment.. Selecting the Option (Step 2) just leaves the options all greyed out with a rotary symbol going round in the centre of them.
