In this current financial climate, everyone appreciates saving money on items and paying less, whether that's on a Tv or food. The food items maybe be pointless to you, but other people may appreciate the heads up on saving money on everyday items.

mm what a dilemna for you but see these little things like 2lit milk 99p are a send for us with a few kids and little money to spare! so do what i do and enjoy the site and chat for what is there!

lol...deja vu.....this point has been raised so many times OP. And as much as I agree with you 100%, its just an opinion as there is nothing on the site that defines a deal (I wouldnt pay too much attention to the hot/cold temp as that seems to be just all fun as very few people state why its hot or cold).

Hat off to you for trying
#4
thats why we have a voting system for hot and cold - why dont you just filter the hot deals?
#5
You're not the first person to have brought this issue up, but as wulshaz pointed out what is irrelevant to some is the reason for visiting for others. There are ways you can customise what deals are seen (you might like to exclude groceries for instance) by using custom filters...
#6
Lots of people use the search to filter out these topics...you can even set an RSS feed I believe, that will also filter them out? ...not 100% on that as I dont use it

we can't all be experts of pricing of everything.

this site is handy for someone like me who does not know 'what's what' when it comes to dvds as the example you used.

For me all the LCD TV posts ruin the site. I already own a 42" plasma so do I really need to keep seeing TV posts? No. Lets clean this place up people

(Yes, i'm being sarcastic)

Welcome here RM02.

As said by others what is a deal to one person may be of no interest to another. If we limited what type of item counted as a deal then that would open up a bigger hornet's nest.

Now that you are registered you can use the Customise feature to exclude certain categories from your Custom tab so you don't see deals filed under those.

And yes Pan111 this also makes a custom RSS feed you can use also.

Pan111 I just love your avatar .Excellent !

I agree about the DVDs though - they are just not hot deals. Just regular pricing these days.

However, for the rest... you can't really exclude food etc, despite them annoying me too.

My only gripe is about the "Sales" being posted as deals...should have their own filter/forum

Tazzer...cheers...I take it you own the car in your av lol

Thanks to you all for your feedback, it made interesting reading.

It was nice to see that plenty of people will agree with my points, and I can see that others will want to see where they can get 2 litres of milk for 99p (although that seems to be EVERYWHERE these days, which is why I found it strange that people needed to be told where to buy their milk;-)).

I honestly do appreciate that some will want to see food deals whereas people like me won't. I started to frequent the site because I am currently in the market for a plasma/LCD TV, so I can see how you no longer want to see these if you have just bought one !!

I will try to master the filters on this site, and get all the food and DVDs/CDs out of my list of deals.

Thanks again for the feedback, and the overall great site.

Food = easy.
DVDs/CDs is a little bit difficult...

Let us know if you need any help. :)

If you do you'll curse the day when Tesco put Fillet Steak on offer for £1 a pound and HMV have the top 10 CD's and DVD's for 50p each !!

Enjoy the site :)

Heh, I got the set. 20p QuidCo on each one, too (just been paid out)... the Play.com system treated the codes as a £3.99 off gift voucher, so you probably could have spent it on other items too!!! :-D

While been a new ish member I like to see all offers at super markets as the famous phase "every penny counts" really does for some people...

Im sure this has been discussed many many times... but one thing i despise is when you or any other person takes the time and effort of posting something which is a good deal for someone.. you get someone voting it cold for no reason or stupid comments like... "don't need a ipod, so voting cold".....

an example of this is -- I found some Sony wirless bluetooth headphone, half price from £79.99 to £39.99 -- which is a great deal for the quality of the product... however its stone cold..

I have just read another comment of the Megane Car Hire thread and some memeber voted cold as the offer was not on when his car was due in the garage.....(taking into account the offer is open for 12 months!!!)

Anyway.. moving on..

People are wise to Argos, never trust an RRP ;-)

* Please note item 5349175 has previously been on sale at £39.14.

There used to be some sort of law governing RRP and price cuts but it seems to be totally flouted nowadays.

This site is good, but when 3 of your comments about mods banning innocent people mysteriously disappears without a single word as to why, then your opinion starts to turn.

Keep the praise, delete the criticism, and all is well.

fair enough... but compare the price to anywhere else at this moment in time......
