It's the same common sense guidelines we've always used. As I said last night if people don't understand these kind of guidelines already then they are probably on the wrong site. This is a formalisation of the general rules but it is not a change in how the site is run.

Having read this, I can see a lot of Members getting banned if the Mods follow it to the letter.
:-(

So we can still party while all the mods are off line

hehe

HIC !!! good cider by the way.

It goes to myself or whoever else is adminstrating when I'm not present.

There's no letter but there's a spirit and we will ask members to leave if they do not follow that spirit of the site. I find it hard to believe anyone could find anything in that code of conduct which is not something they try to live their life by in any case, online or offline.

You or a Mod?

VII. Admin and Moderators:

All the above rules will be strictly enforced by Admin and Moderators at all times. This is their duty on the boards.

Moderators are here to keep the forum as user friendly as possible. They’re as other members but with extra privileges that enable them to carry out their tasks. Please remember they are human too and do occasionally make mistakes.

If you disagree with a Moderator decision, please use the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of the forum to send a brief description.

Admin will have the final say in any disputed decision and on all aspects of the forum.

I thought so. So there is no point in disagreeing with a Mods decision and questioning that decision by using the 'Contact Us' button because that Mod could be the one replying??

It's the 'Spam' bit that seems rather 'strict' if that's the right word. No compromise?

Just you???:? :?
[admin]#19
Even to the letter what is strict about this:

•Empty messages or replies invisible by font and background colour being the same, quotes with no new content or reasonable meaning and repetitive questions or inane words is spam.
•Pornography, pornographic images or sexually offensive material is spam.
•Self promotion of businesses and anyone involved with them, auction sites, personal sales elsewhere online, links to personal websites, requests for referrals, referral links, third party affiliate links and advertising for personal gain is spam

hi hi everyone!

These guidelines will be really helpful to new members like me. I think it's a great idea to make everything black and white like this, it stops anyone getting the wrong idea! Very helpful when you're clueless. :P

I popped in to look at the Weekend thread last night (when fairly drunk ^^) and saw people complaining. I couldn't see why...there were no posts in the thread every1 was linking to made by the admin that looked unfriendly...even these guidelines seem very friendly. Am I the only one in the dark here???

Anyway, got to run, bedfordshire is calling! night xxx
[admin]#21
Just you???:? :?

I'm saying I do review everything in Contact Us unlike reported posts let's say which go to all mods and which I don't read many of.
#22
At least we get to keep our Weekend Thread...

This:-

There is a zero tolerance to spam here. Anything that is deemed to be so will be removed with immediate effect and the spammer banned at the discretion of Admin and Moderators

What are the weekend spam threads on the Misc forum, if not spam?

Yeah all 40000 posts...

The weekend thread will be treated like any other thread - if it breaks the rules then it will be removed. In and of itself there is nothing off-topic about an off-topic thread in an off-topic forum. There's an issue of context here...if off-topic posts are in a deal thread then maybe that would be spam.

I'm not worried about people chatting and having fun on the forum. That's not the point of this code of conduct. What I am worried about is that all members display a level of respect to other members. That is what has become a problem and that is why this code of conduct is posted.

If someone wants to appeal it with myself then that's the process.

From what little I managed to pick up on last night, people think you will refuse to accept what anyone else has to say!

I most likely got the wrong end of the stick (again!, lol) but you need to change your forum image before people will believe you'll listen to anyone other than yourself.

Tbh, I don't know enough about this situation to comment... Would anyone care to explain why there's so much tension in the air around here at the mo? The closed thread in these forum looks fine???

I'd like to explain but I would almost certainly be banned etc, For undermining Admin's decisions or some such.

I'd call it selective deleting/replying. :)

That thread was posted to communicate that people needed to give respect to their fellow members. I was not going to have it turn into an off-topic slanging match about mosques/liverpool and the way that we moderate the forum. As always, there's been loads of discussion about the way this forum is run but it needs to be in a respectful discussion. Cross that line and yes the post will be removed, particularly in that situation.

Yeah, Admin had already covered what I said as I typed it. (EDIT: And again, he's answered what I've typed below. Sorry Admin.)

The thread asked for respect to other users. In that thread we were deleting posts that didn't show that repect to users and the forum and leaving posts that were constructive. If something constructive, calm and polite would have been posted then it would have stayed.

I'd say YES :-( but there is no point in discussing it, here and now.
I started this thread to clear up a couple of things in the new sticky. The Contact Us link and the Spamming bit.
I understand the spam bit.

...and the problem with the contact us link dino?
