which bugs are being fixed please?
#2
Any chance of improving the search?
#3
When you say you will create a username based on the email - does that not likely mean the username will either contain their personal details, or worse still their email address, as part of it?
#4
Think you have lost sight of the main gripe with HUKD 2010. Fix all of the issues before giving members new options.

Mainly mobile site fixes which were causing big problems for our mobile browsers and a graphic fix on text only view, this thread is just for potential issues with the new additions.

As above, but we're going to be working on that in the Autumn

Urgh, 'Trending'.

Good features though, Subscribe to hot deals doesn't sound right to me though, subscribe for hot deals sounds better.

But then again, im not the most grammatically correct person out there!

No, it'll just take the first part of the email as a suggestion, much the same as on Lifehacker for example. The member can amend that however they wish, they don't have to go with the suggestion :)

...your registered account will receive infractions in the same way you would if you created new accounts now.

Does that mean the ability to see infractions on an account will be available tonight as well, juliet_bravo?

Thanks for your clarification.

does this now mean that people can post using those disposable email addresses?

yeah but it'll boost the member numbers and site traffic, handy when negotiating the click through payments.

All comments made by previously unregistered members will go to a moderation queue before appearing on the site.

It will increase the workload of the Moderators if nothing else.

From a moderation point of view there is no difference between an unregistered id and a registered one, so we can still take any appropriate action as required with regards to multi ids and spammers for example, and members can still report them in the usual way (which we are very grateful for).

There was a temporary increase in workload when some of our established members decided to 'test' the new system, but hopefully this will balance out over time.

"Any chance of improving the search?"

Right now we're collecting stats on various things like search to click rate on results etc so that we can work on changing the search and seeing what is statistically working and what isn't. The problem with search is it can be a little individual sometimes in terms of what you expect so the more hard numbers we get the more rational we can be.

i dont understand how you have time to keep working on adding new stuff to this site, when time could be better spent making what you have work

The mobile site works very well for me (compared to many other sites)

but

Although it knows I'm logged in it doesn't give me access to my profile, is this normal or just that I'm not looking in the right place?

Or should this have been put in another thread.

The daily email isn't really going to make much difference to those "active in the deals section". The regulars are on here most days and can view the hottest deals of the day in box on the right, or will have rss feeds setup. But It will benefit irregular visitors who don't visit the site very often and mayb need a reminder about hot deals.......

I presume you're going to have some kind of sign-up prize draw ie all those to sign-up for the newsletter gets entered into a prize draw (like you do with BW sometimes)?

Any chance the report button in IE7 is one of the fixes? I keep sending blank reports to the mods....

The IE fix for the report box is being worked on and should be available soon.
[mod]#23
This new sign up feature seems to be responsible for a lot of new accounts bumping ancient threads..........surely not a coincidence.
[admin]#24
Yeah we're going to make a change so that the comment has to be approved before the bump happens.
[mod]#25
Good stuff. :)
[admin]#26
Or am I missing something?

To me, yes. But that's just my opinion :) I think it's simpler and I've already found it useful for logging in and commenting.

Appears to be encouraging a lot of non-uk residents to post in fs/ft....

Perhaps this function could be disabled for that particulate part of the forum...as it could get messy....you should need to be a registered user to trade in there as you need access to the PM system in order to swap details etc and comply with the rules

just seeing how this email login thing works, ants97

edit: actually pretty good but for me it's still a spammers dream.

@boothy - Yes I agree re fs/ft. I think we're going to have to make sure members authenticate first there.

Needs to be sorted a bit lively....or you are going to get loads of people bumping threads and trying to deal by email as per my example and chaos will ensue...

why don't you just fix all the other problems with the site before introducing new features?
Can you comment again on the ebay thread too?

Minor bug - when you quote a liked comment, the "likeness" appears in the post.
