However, I have noticed that most people click expired on the duplicates. We usually remove them from the forum completely, by clicking the spam button, so it would be great if you could do this instead.

I'll second that as it seems not a lot of people know that once a deal is 'expired' the spam button is disabled, so the only recourse to getting self promo spam etc removed is to hit the report button.

I noticed that too, it is annoying.

Is it possible that that could be removed, because I noticed that when there was a lot of abusive threads started a week or two by the same member(He wanted people to insert a digit in his orifice), they had been expired, and so couldn't be spammed.

I believe that the member himself expired them so that they couldn't be spammed?

I doubt they had the power to expire it themselves. The irritating thing about that case was that it was about 1am and no mods about for a few hours to act on the reports. Still, it did offer an amusing insight into the workings of that members mind

I think this is something that needs looking at, it is an annoyance, albeit a minor one that a post cannot be spammed just because it has been expired.

I never thought of that, suppose that's true!

No, it was someone else.

To expire a deal yourself all you have to do is put the end date as yesterday surely?

For duplicates: I thought that you preferred us to hit the red triangle and report as a duplicate so that you could make the decision yourself as to whether to remove/ignore or whatever.
Isn't it neater to keep expired for expired?

Yes, that's exactly right. But it helps to click spam as well.

And if you make a note in the thread that you have clicked spam and reported it, then no-one else will duplicate your effort.

 Thanks for that Emma.

It would be the same for amazon marketplace deals folks, if you see any like that, please spam them. And if you spot one that has already been expired, if you could fire a quick report to the mods, that would be a big help.

Thanks.

Bump for new eyes .... thanks.

Bumpage... a lot of people expiring duplicates instead of spamming them.... if the regular members happen to see a post has been expired instead of spammed, we'd appreciate a quick post in there to let people know the forum etiquette. (Because by the time I find it, I spam it, so no-one sees anything more about it whatsoever)

If it's been "spammed" by members and disappeared due to this then the OP won't receive a message. We do, however, keep an eye on what's been spammed and if it was by members then we'll endeavour to get a message out.

I, personally, usually send a message to anyone whose thread I have spammed, unless they have already acknowledged that it's not a valid post/deal or whatever in the thread...

Thanks ducky, so if a member SPAMs a duplicated deal it's advisable to also send the OP a PM before you hit the SPAM button - never knew that, thought it was done by MODs. Thanks again for info

(NB Can't remember name of member who posted 2nd Tesco XBOX deal tonight, but sorry if you didn't get a chance to read duplicate info before it was deleted ;-) - it was me who hit SPAM)

It's not the job of the members to do this really, although if you wish you could PM the OP to let them know.

It may be more useful to PM a mod, though, or better still - use the "report" button.
[mod]#18
Thanks ducky, sorry for being a pest. For duplicates I'll hit the report button & give a link to original thread for MODs, then post message in duplicate thread giving original link & then hit SPAM button. It's taken me this long to be brave enought to hit SPAM

Sounds like a perfect method to me. Helpful from both the point of view of helping the mods do our job and helping the thread to get removed in case we aren't quick enough.

Bump. Please can people take note of this :) I come across a lot of dupes that have just been expired.

Sure it's been asked before but wondered what the answer was. Why don't we just change the spam button to the spam/duplicate button. Then everyone will know which button to press.
#24
Too many buttons? They would both do the same thing anyway.

I don't know.. not my choice :)

I think he means that the "Spam" button is re-labelled "Spam/Duplicate".

bumping this up.

people still getting confused, this simple change should fix that.
[helper]#27
Bump.....but as very few members (10 regulars according to admin :) ) ever stray into feedback this might be better in Misc or deals forum....

because the developers on this site are just like the labour party (dont listen to the people).

I still see that the page numbers at the bottom of each forum stayed at only 3 despite many complaints when they reduced it from 10 (for aesthetic reasons! :x)

Bumping again. :)

ive reported ducky for "bumping thru proxy" please all do the same lol!

maybe it would be good idea for a week or so, to have the line above every forum, so for example on the fs.ft forum, it always comes up with a message to the effect of "please read our fs rules and fs guidelines here"

would it b possible to have the same kind of thing for misc, deals etc just saying something like.

"if this thread is a duplicate, please spam...do not use the expire button"

surely it would be even easier to change the SPAM button to SPAM/DUPLICATE ;-)

it needs to be done!

aye agreed, been asked for ages, i saw thread about it way before even i joined lol, so doesnt look like it will happen....dont know why tho...its really annoying u see someone say "sorry mate this has already been posted so ive expired ur thread"

and when i come in to tell the person that they shud have spammed the thread, they dont reply, im guessing theyve moved on thinking theyve done the right thing.
#34
yeah... shame we cant clear up the dupe threads and i cant be bothered any more to report the expired threads that should of been spammed.

 I gave up on that too ages ago.

Is the FEEDBACK section now just for members to **** off HUKD issues now as there seems little / no feedback from developers (are there any?) :x

Seriously, how long can it take to change the text in a Button - all of 10 seconds!

I also still cant get my head around the rationale thats its totally ok to re-post a deal if it is over a month old. Why not just bump the original?
#36
As it would only take 10 seconds to do... (maybe a bit longer)... we can only assume that the admin does not agree.

It messed up all the layout etc, probably as the htm file isn't hosted where all the other stuff is. However it only took me 10 seconds!
