bring back the old hot deals:thumbsup:
#2
obviously 700 odd people with nothing better to do!!
Why don't you just drop it, it's getting boring!!
#3
well its open to discussion and 700 people who have opnions that want to be heard

- if its boring then dont click the thread to read it as the title is self explantory.

I know there are soo many threads on this topic but at the moment the deals are not coming through as much as before so at least this keeps a little entertainment going.

At first I did not like the change and posted so on the forum but I have got used to it now and think its an improvement.
With a little effort you can soon learn to use the site in a better way than the old one/

You can still view the site like a forum.

click on the type of deal at the very top and then click on text view on the right hand side.

Thanks

thats still not like the forum.

as ive said time and time again - im completely indifferent to the new look - im not bothered either way.

but make it work as a normal forum!
#6
may be you should spend less time setting up the new site is **** forums and actually look around, i think you'll find it has a lot of improved features, its just a bit buggy, it will be sorted soon enough
#7
Its a good update, looks more professional and after a bit of use it is BETTER!!

700 people complain
75,000 members

1% of the total user base, yeah like the mods are going to change a site back for 1%.

As usual it's the minority shouting above the majority to try and force the issue when there is no issue to force!!!

There is the odd bug or room for improvement but the site is free.

Well done mods, great site and now you can see any feedback a seller has in the for sale/wanted section which is a very welcome addition.

Out of curiosity - no dig intended I promise- why doesn't it feel like a forum to you? Perhaps if you can put your finger on the reason it could be sorted.
#9
The changes here are nothing to do with 'Web 2.0' jeez it's just a BBS, badly designed and poorly implemented.

Nothing new here !

Currently the petition is at 700 and counting - give or take a few due to double posts.

Have you ever seen this thread - How decisions are made on HUKD.

vBulletin, is an expensive piece of software, which has been designed well, and copied at least in part by almost all forum software. it just works. this doesnt really resemble a forum anymore - but i admit its improving since yesterday

i'm not suggesting it is a democracy? I dont really get your point, since it just says what I already knew - of course people should give feedback, because if they didnt listen or want it, everyone would leave.

please could you let me know what point you are making and then ill respond?

i think the telling remarks in that post are the following:

If I don't listen to the life of the site then one day I may think everyone on the site wants only cold deals on the front page or everyone who starts with "B" wants to be banned, take this action, and then end up losing all the members as they take off somewhere else.

and

Further, the implicit agreement between members and myself is that there is an expectation I will make decisions that are positive for the site as a whole. If I fail to do this then members can exercise their power and leave. This means that sometimes a member may really really really passionately believe in their idea or criticism but I may decide not to follow that advice/criticism. As the decisions are made for the site on a whole as judged by myself this may be frustrated for an individual, however they still have their right to exercise which is (a) trust the judgement of myself or (b) leave the site.

i.e. if the site hasn't improved considered in a day or two people should consider voting with their 'feet' and going elsewhere (MSE for example) as then, and only then, would it seem that the Admin may listen.
I've already stopped visiting as often, and i'm sure the Admin will see that page impressions have fallen and i'm sure the number of 'clicks' through the various affiliate programs will have dropped considerably. Perhaps when it starts hurting financially they may have a little bit of a rethink about it.

I've just come on and clicked on two or three threads and got
"No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"
and as I was hoping for it to have got better or have changed and it hasn't so I'm out too

reduce that number by the number of regular HDUK forums users then you will have a more realistic percentage, oh dear.

Also how many members signed the 'we like the new design thread'??????

I am all for improvement and inevitable changes with new programming and technology advances. BUT it has to be implemented correctly!
This is a terrible website now, and if the intranet at my workplace had been changed as badly as this, there would be potential industrial action!
Although there are going to be many who find it easy to use. But this will be outweighed by a greater number who feel alienated.
The whole concept of this site was for people from all walks of life to easily post and comment on their deals and findings easily. This made all people of varying computer literacy able to join in and contribute. This site as it is will confuse many, and people will just stop using it! This means that the amount of people finding deals etc will decrease which seems to kill off the whole concept of its existance! The people who easily use this version will skew the deals towards their section of interests (computers and consoles etc) and almost wipe out the more domestic and less technical posts and information.
My advice....Put it back as it was until you get it right!

Perhaps you need to get a clue about how complaints relate to total customer experience - http://www.sitepoint.com/article/handling-client-complaints.

* 4% of dissatisfied clients complain
* 91% of dissatisfied clients won't do business with you again
* 80% of dissatisfied clients tell ten people
* 20% of dissatisfied clients tell 20 people
("Consumer Complaint Handling in America: An Update Study," Technical Assistance Research Program, White House Office of Consumer Affairs (Washington DC, 1986).)

The reality is that this site is a usability disaster. Patronising comments about "get used to change", "learn how to use it", and so on, totally miss the whole point of the internet and user interface interaction. The mods/admin are looking only for "positive feedback" rather than realising that a complaining customer is their best friend. They've buried their head in the sand and are excusing a very poorly designed and executed site. Launching it just before Christmas is a whole other problem.

I hate the new site it is so poor and hard to fidn the deals! Hardly anyone is posting anymore because of it!

I hear you man, this is the feed back section after all..............

The original site doesn't need to come back, just fix this damn mess!

- The search is ****, I don't want to see deals posted years ago, and I want to sort by the most recent without going into advanced options!

- I don't want to see the original post at the top of every damn thread.

- Expired threads shouldn't be hidden by default - many threads get labelled as expired and so get missed.

- I want INDIVIDUAL settings for each forum - I want FULL VIEW on the intro screen, and TEXT ONLY on everything else - why can I not do this?

From a web developers point of view, it's a really ****** site. I understand people are getting sick of opinions being posted over and over, but this is a really really bad website now.

And why the hell is it so damn SLOW?! It's taking me ages to do anything!

Have you ever seen this thread - How decisions are made on HUKD.

not quite sure why you have directed us to that thread but ive just read it and basically it just further back up the point. i think the petition is unprecedented in this sites history and something that should be considered very carefully. it is all constructive criticism as all the members that have posted want it back to the old functional way for the good of the site. the setup right now will entice few new members to join. i suppose the proof is in the pudding and theoretically the 'most members ever online' should be broken over the next few days, if its not then it just sums up the petitioning members were right. the admins are just so confrontational and see this as everyone slating them and only want 'constructive critism'...the only thing thats changed is the banner was largened a bit but now seems back to normal.
#36
ignore your user base at your peril, its obvious this change is money orientated, maybe advertising or sumit like that.
one of reasons hotdeals is so popular is because of ease of use, with everything in one place, now its a mess, they dug them selves a hole but r 2 arrogant to admit they made a mistake
#37
I now make my protest by NOT clicking on the HUKD referral links. Instead I type the URL manually, so HUKD does not get any benefits for the link.
