The biggest problem is the blatant links that are posted here for illegal downloads, things like ds roms/cracks/appz/ the site could get shut down with the right amount of pressure unless something gets done or the moderators/admin become more diligent.

The moderators do not see every thread, do you report the links to bring it to their attention?

Agreed. As a Pastafarian I find it offensive that somebody should cuss by pirate brothers:x

to be fair why should he? If the the mod/admin team can't police their own site then thats their responsibility and any consequnces they face are entirely down to them as is roundly pointed out on here routinely its admins site.

maybe a few more mods are needed to police the boards more effectively rather than resources being diverted to bumping revenues or irreverant blog sites.

I suppose it depends how you look at it, for me it is one of the best sites around, and if I can help admin out by reporting posts/threads that may lead to the site getting shut down, or him shutting discussion from the boards, I will do so. :)

Members are warned and sometimes suspended if the mods spot it. They never even used to allow the mention of an infamous Russian (and legal in Russia) mp3 download site So it is discouraged by the mods and admin. If members feel otherwise, then I think thats up to them.....

I think thats far too harsh

If that happened then deals like R4 cards wouldnt be on the site, nor would modded consoles since the main purpose is to bypass copy protection, same for MP3 players.

Im a "pirate" but only download movies that arent on dvd yet then buy them when they are relased so I dont have to wait, or tv shows that werent released here, or download mp3s of songs I own somewhere, or roms of games I own.

Well apart from Arcade games since its like £1000 and not practical to get them.

Who cares????????

The guy who lol's about being a pirate is a half - wit.....he's not doing anything that a whole load more folk aren't doing out there...but not everyone has such an empty life that they feel the need to brag about the fact they're doing what a significant %age of people are already doing......

Is pirating right or wrong?????? Of course it's wrong...but everyone who pirates will use their own form of justification to excuse it.

Fact is...it won't affect the revenues of the companies who bleat on about how damaging it is to them.....and most who pirate wouldn't have paid full whack anyway so they wouldn't have contributed to the coffers of MS etc......

There's a whole lot more out to worry about than some dim wit bragging he pays £1.50 for a copy of a computer game..... ;-)

The OP has a good point - it is a significant risk to this (or any) site to turn a blind eye to some discussions/links to what is essentially criminal activity, I think people have to be very careful sometimes about what links they post and the language they use when discussing these things, just for the sites sake. It is a pretty big site now and I dare say there are a few other sites/people actively looking for ways to get this site in trouble...

A response from the boss with a few general guidelines about what can and can't be discussed would be good (for example, I think direct links to actual files or torrents is probably not a good idea...)

I have reported deals for illegal items, and the Mods are pretty sharpish about removing them. Usually within a few minutes.

So basically you're contributing to global warming because less pirates = higher temperature.
