Thanks for the feedback TrevorPH. I know other members have mentioned this.

Can I ask, if you are checking every 6 hours why not just read back as far as threads 'posted 6 hours ago'?

i agree it would be nice to have the actual time showing on the post itself.

Because it doesn't tell me when I last looked! I think that's the point I was trying to make :). I have no idea when I last looked because I don't check on a set schedule, just when I get a chance. And there's nothing at the top of the page that says when I checked. So it's entirely guesswork!

Even a timestamp at the top of the page saying "It's now yyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss" would help because then I could work out how long ago it was when I last refreshed the page and just look for deals posted in the X minutes it has been since that time.

Must admit I prefer the actual time to the "x minutes ago" format!

But a posted date wouldn't tell you when you last looked either? Like if you looked at 6am and then looked at noon ... it's 6 hours ago or it's 6am ... you have to remember the time either way?

I think for what you need there is a better solution actually. Use the 'Mark forum read' link in text view and then use the bold/unbold to know what you've read.

The posted date would tell me exactly how far to read back to. The point is at present there is nothing to tell you if you last refreshed the page 6 hours ago or 6 days ago so you can't remember the time. So the only way to do it is to look at the title of the top post and hope you can remember it while you scroll through 8 pages of deals - which I invariably can't do.

I also don't seem to have a text view or a mark forum read option anywhere visible on screen.

I get what you're saying now! You mean if you leave the browser window open and then come back to it later. I was thinking if you browsed away from HUKD or went to work etc and re-opened it.

If you go to text only view (have to be outside of a thread and then it's under View Options) then you will get a 'Mark forum read' link above the threads. Clicking this will make all their read indicators dimmed out. Then when you come back later you will know to only read the threads with bold indicators.

Did you give a reason to those of us that have asked this?

i like the current format, but having a clock AS WELL would be a good idea

I don't have the option of text view. I'm on http://www.hotukdeals.com/custom with the Custom tab selected. In my Customise selection I have Deals, Vouchers and Freebies selected as my forums, my filtering preferences are all checked and my temperature threshold is empty. Then I have sort by 'New'. This was the recommended set up to get as close to the old style view as possible and I've been using it since the site conversion just before Christmas.
