Yes, I agree.

What I am trying to ascertain is do you think that finding a bargain and sharing it is enough? Or is removing items from the marketplace solely for other HUKD'ers an acceptable practice?
#3
I think it should be against the rules.
If you find a deal available to reserve post it.
I could have reserved various items at argos ie nintendo wii, play, zapper gun etc but,
as I do not need any of them, so I did not reserve them.

Just my opinion though and what do I know?

It's not really "What you know", I am just trying to gauge the feeling of doing this.
I just can't stand it when I see a deal for Argos(In particular) and then see posts saying that they have reserved 2 for other HUKD'ers. Also the old "I have reserved one, but I can't pick it up" et al.

It's by no means a major problem, but I think about all those genuine people searching for things that are not available because of people reserving one that they neither want or have anyone specific that they are saving it for.

Don't think you can cancel a reserve item from argos or pc-world etc can you?

Many users probably see a hot deal at one on the above, find its in stock locally and reserve straight away then only after its done reflect and decide they don't need the item or it isn't exactly what they want. I don't think the practice should be encouraged and I wouldn't like to see people do it deliberately (to get rep etc), but once it has already been reserved its better to let someone else benefit...

Think in cases where multiple numbers have clearly been reserved this should be actively discouraged (ideally by a mod).

As far as I am aware, you can't cancel a reserved item.

I do not think the majority of times it is a case of reserving it and changing your mind, it's not as if it is a "One click" resererve system.

The mods only read a minority of the posts, so I do not see them alone being able to discourage it if HUKD did not want to be a part of it.
#7
Its not far off a one-click system, you only need to give a town and disposable email address. All I can say for sure is I've reserved things in the past then changed my mind before collecting them, in such circumstances I don't see the harm in offering the reservation on the forum, but if anyone is seen to do this deliberately (which I guess could only be proven by either multiple times or from several different stores) they should be discouraged from doing so in the future.
#8
It's bad practice to reserve as many as you can in stock and dish them out if you didn't actually want/need them all. It's also not on to 'rep beg' using reservations... but then I would rather see a few given away here by like minded 'community' people than those who come here, reserve then sell the reservations on ebay. Those who say 'I reserved as many as I could' should be negatively treated (If only there was neg rep), and those who genuinely reserve 1 and pass it on because they have changed their mind, fair play.

I don't think we should intentionally reserve stuff for HUKD people, but if I didn't want something after reserving it, I would come here first to see if anyone wanted it...
#9
I HAVE RESERVED A FEW THINGS ON ARGOS THEN CHANGED MY MIND OR COULDN'T GET TO THE STORE. THEY DO NOT LET ONE UNRESERVE ITEMS, SO I FELT REALY BAD.
I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT POSTING THE RESERVE NO. ON HUKD, BUT I WILL IN THE FUTURE. THANK YOU.

As Sophie says, sometimes you do reserve something then decide it's not needed... in these cases maybe it's not so bad?

What do you mean by "HUKD" buying them all up and selling?

I am not saying that this doesn't happen. I done it myself last week. I didn't offer it here because I don't think it's fair.

I am just talking about HUKD'ers intentionally reserving stock that they have absolutely no intention of ever getting. I have even seen them reserving stuff in numerous cities, and stating this.

HUKD members buying stuff to sell on here, i thought the for sale board was for tading and selling your own no longer wanted goods, but no it isnt its for members to buy in bulk or short supply goods then sell to HUKD at a higher price, just because these members dont declare their selling activites it doesnt stop them actually being traders

HUKD members buying stuff to sell on here,

So by it being "No worse" do you feel that it should stop, or are you saying that it should carry on as is?

If you aint going to stop those that buy to sell then why stop those that resever, they are both removing goods from the market that people want, one is making money from it, the other isnt, so no i think if you not going to stop the traders then no i dont think you should stop the odd member that reserves an item, and to be honest i have never seen anybody on here that has more than one res number or something, and have always felt it has been reserved then maybe thought they wouldnt bother, even i have done that
#16
You can not stop those that buy an item and then re-sell. You can stop(Remove posts) people offering reserve numbers.

This is from today on HUKD:

hi folks anyone in hull still looking I have couple on reserve until wednesday

pm me

The items in question are Nintendo Wii's, do you think these were reserved for themself, and they changed their mind?

you cannot stop anything, all you can do is ban, then they come back, the for sale board is supposed to be used for members personal possessions not for bulk traders, like i said just because they dont declare their business to the tax man doesnt mean they havent got one, there some on here and it is as plain as the nose on your face what they are doing, but they are still here

That has little to do with my pet hate, so i'll leave it there. :)

I think that with Argos that they say you must come in the next day and pick the item up i suppose that if it isn't picked up they just put it back on sale the day after they are hardly going to chase you for the money.

Argos give you around 2 or 3 days to pick an item up that you have reserved.
In those 2 or 3 days, there will be lots of people looking for items that HUKD'ers are hoarding for "Their own".

I am not debating on whether Argos would be chasing anyone for money. :)
#21
The other hard to find item (Wii Play)is being hoarded for HUKD'ers, sadly the general public won't be able to get one in Bristol:

I have one reserved at Bristol Galleries (the only one) so if anyone wants the reservation code, pm me

Someone else finds the hoarding unacceptable:

If people don't want them, why oh why are they reserving them, stopping people that do want them from getting them?!?!?!

I await the response from the hoarder. :)

why not ask the person in question :x
I reserved one and checked for comfirmation e-mail - was in spam - so to be sure reserved another from different store - ended up using one of the codes for my bro in law who was the reason i was reserving one in the first place

the other one would have gone back on sale anyhow - really didn't see the harm in offering it to ppl on this site since I have had some cracking deals thanks to HUKD

could even have put it on a 24 hour listing on ebay and sold it without even buying it first - others would have :-D

I am not saying that it is right for ppl to reserve any old thing from multiple stores around the country but I did n't appreciate being flamed for trying to do someone on here a favour - did n't do it for rep either thats just abit of fun anyway

well thats my say - thanks to all those great deal finders out there

Someone else already asked you in the thread.

I have said that I have reserved one that I don't want. I am not sure if you have read what I have said on this thread, but I am talking about "Intentionally" reserving items that people neither want or need.

Nothing in the rules that say you can't do this.

I haven't been back to the thread, so I wasn't aware that you had been flamed for it, that is not necessary. I never identified you in this thread, I removed your name from my quotes before quoting here. :)

That seems a reasonable distinction to me, I don't know how many people are intentionally reserving items they have no intention of collecting themselves.
