Yes, I don't think it's a useful change.

You can, however, find out when the thread was posted by doing a search.

So this
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/tesco-boombox-now-only-7-click-n-collect-free-tesco-direct/939217
is top of hot deals at the moment.

The info, as you say, is how long it has been hot (49 minutes just now) - full stop. If you search for it using 'boombox' then you can find the thread in the list and it says when it was posted (1 day 4 hours).

I suppose, that as it is a current deal, then it's not of great import ...... but the really hot deals often heat up fast, so the posting time is a good indication.
