This was one thought I / we had:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/202542/too-many-threads-going-off-topic/showpost.php?p=2361870&postcount=34

If we had 'deal request' ( could be used more) changed to 'Advice wanted' or something like that ( serious stuff), then all the fluff could happily stay in here i.e. misc. :?:

Probably the only difficulty with any additions is people being confused about where to post threads, but I think it would only be short term.
Any additions need to be clearly labelled. Hopefully this will be implemented soon.

I think instead of sticking them in the forums line, it would make more sense to have them as "topics", so the fuss of making another forum could be kept minimal.

Then if you don't want to seem them you can turn them off in custom view?

I actually like the comps and congrats all mixed in with the rest of the nonsense. it's fun to pop in to them whilst browsing. I think that it's the serious stuff that needs to be moved, although I'm not 100% sure what the serious stuff is.

Think the problem with having additional topics is that the topics line (http://www.hotukdeals.com/images/menu_topics.gif) itself is as wide as it could be (where as the forums line is not..) so a gui redesign would be necessary if new topics were added.

Is it? Topics end at halfway through control panel for me.
What's gui?

Me too but if you have a smaller screen it is near the end.. I don't think it even fits on an 800x600 screen size (not too many people still use than but quite a few still use 1024x768...)

You may want to include an option for jokes too! There has been a lot recently, and Pred, you are one of the culprits....

Asked the Congratulations question in a contact us email a while ago, thinking how much time it'd save everyone trying to see if someone had come up with an interesting way to congratulate people.

I Think its a damned fine idea Pred(s)!!!!
