Scan will be remaining suspended for the foreseeable future.

yeah and I don't agree with the sentiments behind that comment at all.
It's just people got butthurt because Scan ended the free delivery so they decided to report them for this. The ironic thing is the ones who complained are only screwing themselves over, as Scan's sales will drop if they are banned from HUKD... which means an even smaller chance of the free delivery returning.
I personally find nothing wrong with their suggestion to post deals here, as I check the Today Only section and their Twitter/FB feed every day... so will post good offers any ways.
I've seen numerous companies who I 'like' on Facebook suggest posting the offers here (one company even said the first person to post gets a discount... and they are still here). So I don't think this warrants a ban IMO as people have their own choice whether or not to post the deal... and they don't benefit at all from doing it either.

Scan can promote themselves by doing good deals which will be picked up and posted, but suggesting it, on another site, gets them banned here.
LOL brings to mind the Jehova stoning scene on The Life Of Brian in a way X)
We wouldn't allow incentivising posts in that fashion either so it's worth reporting any activity along those lines. We're not just an ad platform for merchants to use whenever they want to clear our some old stock. The members here are worth more than that.
@ants97 your logic is flawed; If any merchant self promotes repeatedly, or ignores warnings over breaching our code of conduct then they get suspended, that's regardless of whether they're an affiliate or not. If they get in touch to apologise and take steps to ensure it won't happen again, we let them back and give them a chance, that goes for ALL merchants. This doesn't mean that the none-affiliated ones suddenly become paying merchants. It really is getting repetitive but that's not what this is about.

Read the above from Juliet Bravo. There was more than one issue that led to this decision. Juliet Bravo made a mistake by sharing one of the contributing factors that led to the decision. This has led to a further problem that members in here are totally fixated on that one issue. People also seem to "think" that they have enough information to pass their own judgement on the decision. Remember that most spam posts are deleted.
BTW: The "post on hukd" icons seen on other sites like zavvi are there for convenience. They are normally only clicked on by people like me who pick a bargain out of a shops entire inventory and want to share it. It is nothing like a shop asking me to post specific items on hotukdeals which are to their advantage but may not be a bargain or something I would naturally post.
There is a lot of underhand crap that goes on by retailers on this site. People should be thanking the moderators for protecting them from it and should not be charitable to these companies flagged as untrustworthy. My own observations is that there are much worse cases of self promotion on here but do not claim to know what really happened in the case of scan. So just like I trusted Tony Blair on the WMD issue, I also trust the mod team on issues of retailer self-promotion.

FYI: "EXPIRED - [BUG]: "Share with HUKD" link on ShopTo.net product page not consistent with Deal Temperature"
Comment #2:
It's not self promotion, any merchants sharing deals to HUKD with the share button will still be penalised, much in the same way they would if they submitted a deal in the normal fashion. It's just to make deal submission from product page a simpler process for our members and shopto customers.
I have seen the [Share on HUKD] buttons on the product pages at Bee.com, Gameplay.co.uk, Zavvi.com, TheHut.com &, as mentioned in the above thread, ShopTo.net.

You mean the ones that didn't exist, or were there some real ones?
I mean the ones that were a "convenient justification" for what followed. The removal of Scan/Sadam was right even if WMD did not exist. The world is better off without these tyrants.
Only ones that do referral schemes. Scan don't AFIAK.
"Scan may be pushing or incentivising promotion." wth is wrong with them doing that ? they are a sales company its their job to sell sell sell, its up to us all to vote hot or cold on a deal and if its a rubbish deal it will be voted cold and alternatives given/shown at better prices

This isn't a sales forum for companies to pitch their goods. It is a deal hunting community (and cash cow for the owner). There is enough stupidity in the voting and deal posting without companies adding to the general stupidity of what is a hot deal and good information.
It takes too much effort to shoot down bad deals and bad information on here and you end up with gangs of trolls ramping up deals and bullying anyone that casts doubts. You should look at some of the sharetrading forums for gangs at work manipulating public perception.
...Trying to find examples not deleted...
Ah here ..... two cases of the same aggressive sales man using multiple identities and trying to mislead people with complete nonsense. (many of his posts are thankfully now deleted but you can still see the typical aggression and attempts at manipulation)
Case 1: Challenged
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/toshiba-37ul863b-37-full-hd-1080p-led-smart-tv-with-freeview-hd-only-479-with-5-1027096
Case 2: Troll not challenged and allowed to pump bad information
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lg-47lv355u-47-full-hd-1080p-led-tv-548-95-prc-direct-1018290
The good thing when bad informaiton is challenged is that key words such as the tv model number will rank very highly in google and so has a negative effect on their marketing. However, case 2 shows the inefficiencies of the voting system and the danger to those relying on community advice.
Trust between users is paramount as people literally hang on the advice of others for things like computers and televisions. If people wanted to talk to salesman or their agents, they would go into a shop.
If you regularly like what Scan have to offer then simply visit their site each day to look.
