you cant leave neg rep, i thought they where just old rep
#2
you sure it's not from someone old school, who only has a negative rep themselves?
#3
Got a picture? New one on me....

Actually, maybe it was special rep from a mod:whistling:
#4
It was left today by someone who left an insult with it, probably because they were warned about an insult they left in another thread

This is a negtive rep, but that system was turned off years ago!!

And the person who gave it to you has positve rep. This is very odd.

so has this affected my rep? Judging by the comment they left they wanted to leave negative rep.
#20
Maybe someone already red-carded it;-)

What does this mean?...or am I being thick..

seems like nobody knows why i've got it, if the mods don't know, who does?
#23
1) maybe its some bug carried over.
2) Glitch?
3) The user somehow is still using old hotukdeals.com via hack or something

Im guessing 3) cos the repper obviously aint the happiest guy in the world

I found out a while back how to neg rep.
Have had words with a mod.

This wasn't me who negged you by the way souljacker.
banned#25
No, because it was me (which makes sense when you look at the thread in question).

I knew it would show up, since the method I used is not a "hack", or using an old site - it does things correctly, rather than some terrible database hack or similar. Its using the current site, and is available because of a little bit of sloppy code removal :P BAD admin :P I suspect it will be the same method that t0mm knows about

I had been wanting to test this, and after falling out with souljacker (wrongly in hindsight), I thought he would be a good test dummy! I'm sure the mods will return your rep points in due course!

I will report how it was done once the mods close it off (and confirm they aren't going to ban my ass! :)

Tee hee!

HUKD we have a problem...

If you want a bug fixed, make it public. Seems unfair some of us knowing how to do it and some not so here goes:

How to neg-rep:
1. You need something to edit the form for rep - I'm using the (free) Web Developer toolbar for Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60)
2. To give neg-rep, click on the give-rep icon then select "Clear Radio Buttons" in the Forms menu of the tool-bar - this clears the 'I approve' option resulting in a negative rep.

You are an utter moron.

The mods and admin have already expressed an interest in fixing it via PM, so you making it public has just resulted in more work for them. Well done you!

For the record, I used Firebug instead, and changed the meaning of the checked radio button, rather than cancelling it. The fact the form defaults to bad feedback is just daft!

Guess we shall just agree to disagree there

A bug made public will get fixed quicker (if there is a desire to fix it at all). Seeing as this was already being exploited by yourself, it seems only fair that everyone should have the ability to do so if they see fit. You have negative repped someone (through the use of this exploit) - surely they should have the option of doing a tit-for-tat retailiation? (NB this is exactly why negative rep should be removed altogether)

Once. (Now twice).

The bug WAS public - public to the mods and admins.

Based on that, what possible reason is there to make it public? Do you REALLY think the mods would just not bother fixing the bug, and continue to allow just me to use it? Come off it. A complete and utter waste of time for the mods who will have to dig out and cancel the neg votes.

Oh and if you were so concerned about souljacker getting revenge - why didn't you just PM him?

Attention seeking, and really very sad.

Based on what t0mm said above yes I think that is very possibly the case. Certainly I think it was a pretty low priority. I guess my beliefs that the best ways to improve things comes from exposing problems differs to yours though
banned#32
Even if people used it now, they would likely be punished - so I would deem anybody that did - stupid.

If the mods turned around and said "yeah its a bug.. we'll fix it sometime" then trust me, it would been made public by myself.

But instead of asking whether this had happened, or finding out if the mods were sorting it, you just went ahead and made it public. Thats my problem with it.

However, this is all much of a muchness I guess. Its a stupid bug that should, and would never have been exploited if the admin wasn't lazy :P
#34
Its a simple fix I think. Just set the radio button to disabled (greyed out), and default value to selected. (I think this still might be exploitable, using Web Dev though, I haven't tested it)

Maybe - depends how much the mods really care about it and how much info they have access to I guess - time will tell...

vibeone - I guess we're coming from different philosophies here - I'm very much into open source and I also believe this forum should be fair and equal for all members, so I firmly believed in making this bug public. Its done now, and if a similar thing happened in the future I'd certainly do it again. :)

Think that would still be bypassable, would be best to totally remove the variable (and concept of negative rep) and make all rep positive but this might be more effort.
#36
Can't belive you went to all that trouble just for me vibeone.

Don't worry i'm not going to return the favour.

Could a mod please remove the negative feedabck on my rep, and return the rep this has taken away, thanks in advance

Not 100% sure they can actually do that - if they can, I can't see why all negative reps weren't erased when the ability to give neg was (I've said many times before how it was unfair that some members from pre-2007 had less rep than a new member joining today).

That wouldn't work - Firebug will allow you to remove the disabled on the fly.

I'd known that it would probably work for a while, but hadn't got it to work.

Oh and btw, I tried to give you pos feedback for your Skins thread post, but wasn't allowed! I need to spread the (neg?) rep around first! :(

For the record, when I did It, I didn't even use a code

and nor did I hack the forums.

Simple bug I took advantage of.
