If that wasn't on headed paper I would have said it was a wind up.
I can pick holes in the particulars, so I'm sure any barrister retained by HUKD will be able to do the same.
It's scare tactics and nothing more, but obviously under the circumstances removing the threads is obviously the correct course of action.

this is ridiculous
i am however interested in the law regarding this situation.
just a thought- if the comments are defamatory, do they belong to the poster or hukd?
who has to prove what? does redsave have to prove these comments are not true or does hukd/posters have to prove that they are true?
banned#13
so what doe this mean ?
#14
Oh dear, what have you naughty members been up to
#15
There was an article in this months .net magazine about redsave going after websites like this and trying to get them to remove comments from customers.
#16

wow, I like that informative bar, tis well good

It is indeed a piece of awesomeness, I think it could be better used though - perhaps to alert everyone to my godly presence on the site?
#18
Thanks HUKD for letting us know about this.........and bringing this to our attention.

www.hotukdeals.co.uk?

Thats quite a glaring error for a law firm to make in the first paragraph
#20
well all i can say is that REDsave have just BLACKlisted themselves in the eyes of many many people who look at and visit HUKD. Free speech is paramount.

Should they not send a similar email to dooyoo then: -

http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/online-shops/redsave-com/

Seems they aren't going to do much good for business... :p

guys just be careful what you say about the company. it could add fuel to their fire. persoanlly i think this should be a locked thread without the need for comments to be added. (only as a just in case, not blocking freedom of speech etc)
thanks admin for letting us know about this and hope it turns out all ok

What holes in the particulars exactly can you pick in this as you seem to be an authority on the situation?
#27
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!! Let's hope this gets sorted soon. Thanks for keeping us up to date x

Well I must admit to being in the Dark about this until now , I just done the google search , and I'm amazed that things like this can happen in modern day retailing..

I know the feeling of when you get excited and before you know it you have purchased something from a site that could well be uncle bob in Glasgow.. So far I've been lucky ..

But it all seems a half hearted scare tactic the PDF i mean ...

Freedom of speech is I agree is paramount and there is never smoke without fire and you dont hear of good company's getting slated that often , just the odd isolated case ..

Any way the Damage has been done some swine's would be finished more or less in Retail Web sales
Keep us posted hope my Cryptic Message is harmless :)
#29
Good on you HUKD, FREEDOM of speech is important for us all

Be assured you are 100,000 % backed :-D

I've never used them or know about the thread that caused the hoohaa but the fact that they have written a letter to your ISP speaks volumes - I will never use them. Simple.

So basically they are complaining about comments that you are hosting? So links to comments elsewhere should be ok?

You thinking what i'm thinking?? After all they arent going after google and that must carry plenty of links to criticism of redsave! Just using the search term redsave scam (not that I am associating the two words together of course:whistling:) brings 473 results!
#36
Well good luck HUKD, i would like to say more but am gunna bite my tounger for now!

Google Cache ftw lol

I've never heard of em, or know what the thread referred to is about, but clearly this is one that should be followed.
#39
Oh another thing - I never ever heard of Redsave before today and I trawl the internet constantly and buy gadgets galore - so now i need to make a concerted effort to remember this company as one to forget :-) Google has informed me so much about them.
banned#40
looking at their letter they just don't want to be associated with the word scam.
so in my opinion if the site is mentioned again i would just mention that they are a paid subscription service and quote their T&Cs 'After your initial 30 day free trial, your membership subscription will be billed at £19.95 per month until cancelled.'
