****UPDATE 11/06/08*****
On 09/06/2008 Redsave sent us the following response to our letter.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/3307498/Redsave09June
Several of the questions asked were not responded to, however, we do encourage members to read their answers provided.
We do object to their characterisation of our conduct in this matter and note in our response that (1) we have never blocked their IP, (2) they consistently requested that *all* Redsave posts be removed without qualification, (3) we did originally correspond with Max Walker to review and consider his concerns about postings on the HotUKDeals forum.
Our response letter can be read here:

*****END OF UPDATE 11/06/08****
****UPDATE*****
On 27 May 2008, we put a number of very precise questions to Redsave ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/3258568/HUKDResponse ) including questions concerning these matters. We asked for precise details of inaccurate matters and offered Redsave a meaningful opportunity to respond and a Right of Reply. Redsave have, to date, chosen not to answer these questions. [EDIT 11/06/08: We now have a response see details above.]
We will update the public correspondence as and when we receive Redsave's response. [EDIT 11/06/08: Please see above for Redsave's response.]
We have reposted the original HUKD member thread which can be found here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/127119/redsave-redsave-com-more-like-con-p/
*********FIRST POST BELOW*******
Redsave have complained to our ISP about comments made by members and given a Takedown Notice. See Redsaves letter to our ISP here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/images/SLKW005556b.PDF
We are taking legal advice and will be corresponding with Redsaves lawyers.
Pending the outcome of that correspondence and other inquiries, we have temporarily removed the content.
Once we have completed the compliance process, we will repost your comments, in whole or part, as permitted by our lawyers. We anticipate this will be within a fortnight.
We believe HotUKDeals members have a right to comment on their truthful experience with merchants and we are committed to defending that right vigorously even when faced with legal threats. We believe that if truthful but negative comments cannot be published for fear of legal action, the ability of consumers to inform themselves is fundamentally eroded.
We believe that both consumers and merchants have the right to fair and free speech and we will not be intimidated by legal threats which attempt to impinge on this right.
Until we re-post, we ask that HotUKDeals members do not engage in speculation but if any members wish to contact us about the above please do so here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/sendmessage.php

I must admit, I did wonder why JB took the post down this morning.

Working fine here.

I can pick holes in the particulars, so I'm sure any barrister retained by HUKD will be able to do the same.
It's scare tactics and nothing more, but obviously under the circumstances removing the threads is obviously the correct course of action.
i am however interested in the law regarding this situation.
just a thought- if the comments are defamatory, do they belong to the poster or hukd?
who has to prove what? does redsave have to prove these comments are not true or does hukd/posters have to prove that they are true?
It is indeed a piece of awesomeness, I think it could be better used though - perhaps to alert everyone to my godly presence on the site?
Thats quite a glaring error for a law firm to make in the first paragraph
