I don't agree with it, and it's not a good idea.
#2
Why? I Dont see why its not a good idea, surely its good because it will boost members' momentum to offer good deals as they know it will be rewarding for them TOO
#3
Because you will get loads of spam on HUKD, just so people can make money.
#4

Are you admitting that HUKD would get spammed with referral posts.?
#6
Why cant you just tell people for free ? :? :? :whistling:
#7
If I get a good deal from the information on here I always tell my friends what a good site this is...

This site has managed to gain 30,000 members without using them, It is unnecessary and its not what HUKD is about.

In that sentence you capture exactly why we do not allow self-promo/referrals on the site. Simply because as soon as any monetary self-interest is present people will post offers, recommend offers, even possibly lie about offers simply to try and make money. It takes away the purpose of this site which is that it is for real people to give real recommendations and opinions simply to help each other out - allowing self-promo turns it into just another newspaper ad where things are said simply to make money.

An opportunity for members to also make some money, for whatever reason. As some of us have to pay the bills ;) By referring friends soo they can also profit ???
What do people think, leave ur views here

I think this site is aimmed at saving money rather than making money. Friends, you should refer them as an act of friendship, not for monetary gain.

If you want to make your own money from referals, set up your own site! If you provide a valuable resource, such as this, you may make some money from it otherwise people will just see it as another referals site that offers *them* little in return.

I don't think it is a good idea, sorry!

Perhaps, a hidden forum (so people who don't have access dont even know it exists, therefore they can't be spamming to get into it!) that only members with x amount of posts or who have been here x amount of time..

Then you get rid of the spam aspect but still give the regulars (who help make this site what it is) the chance to get something back themselves (if they want to)
#12
Thats one thing iv noticed about a lot of forums, they wont let you sell items unless you have 30 or so posts.
#13
I dont agree with that - dont agree with sites that get you something by refferring other people and wouldnt want to see them on here.

Plus, there would probably be arguements by people trying to post different referral links to the same site

Referrals would be a terrible ideal. One of the reasons I distrust Play Asia posts on HDUK are because they run a referral scheme. You don't know if it is a good deal or someone trying to make money out of you....

How do you know there isn't one and you just haven't been invited?

Seriously though... MSE has this sort of thing and it's a MESS. But if you do want to do it then go there...

Gari, we're very careful of the play-asia links, and the mods make sure no referral links are in the posts.

-le gasp- :x

:P

I definitely agree in general about referral links, been around enough forums to know it's uggglllllyy, just thought I would throw in the suggestion of the hidden forum as an idea in case it was being considered :)

you know sometimes you might think a site doesnt have referrals and yet with some clever coding that disguises the links there are some to be found.

think about it.

as ive said elsewhere people have the right to operate in any way they choose.

i merely giving my opinion of what i prefer.

i use this site, it is free, i benefit by knowing about the offers, the site operator makes some money.

I also have the choice of not using this site, the operator has the choice to charge .

I have a preference for things to be upfront thats all. others just dont care.

different people have different concerns , thats the way of the world.

i think the whole refferal thing is one big scam and i'd hate to see them on HDUK, can anyone really prove they get the stuff they are promised by these companies??? No didnt think so

One word - Quidco ;-)

The end user gets the goods ordered and the seller usually pays the referral as if they didn't then quidco wouldn't pay out.

I do, however, agree with you that members referral/affiliate links have no place on HUKD.

i dont understand the problem with the site making money , it doesnt come from members pockets and we still benefit from the great savings we find here, we dont even pay a membership fee and we are not forced to join or even browse and get no spam, am i missing something?

if you dont like it, go straight to each retailer and quite possibly pay more than you could be!

Yes we do not use referrals as individual members. The members who have done so have been asked to remove it.
