It should also be pointed out that requesters should use the forum search function before requesting. Often a deal has been posted days or even hours earlier of the same or a very similar nature.

I agree

Things are getting out of hand in the deal request section. People are posting requests without putting in ANY effort themselves first.

Often when people ask for assistance they really mean it. Not everyone is talented in finding good deals or price matching. Also, you would have noticed that many suggestions / deals are thrown in when a deal seeker is quite naive, which helps everyone. :)
Hey cutthroatjake. We used to have a sticky exactly like this...I'm not sure what happened to it but I suppose it fell down in the forum move! We'll dig it up and get it back up there.
Yes, a sticky in deal request would be very useful indeed. It is true that some people have absolutely no idea what they are looking for, and would welcome any suggestions. However, those that have a more specific idea should try and provide as much information as possible to help deal hunters to help them!
Can we have that sticky fairly sharpish - possibly even just take

I recommend that everyone who is asking for help on a deal to at least quote 2 prices that they have found from online shops as well as the links. That way, we know:

1) You are putting effort into it as well and not just depending on us to do the hard work
2) We have an amount to compare to when we find a deal for that product.
3) One of us might know how to get the price lower at one of the shops you found (i.e. through vouchers, quidco, etc etc)

as a starting point and refine the sticky over a week or so. Perhaps the Posting method for the Deal request could use a form method giving links to prices the person has found already - if it takes more than 6 seconds effort then we can shed a lot of spammed "save me money messages". Since i haven't a clue how much of a horror that would be to set up - over to you admin :-P

Let's just hope the n00bs read it now!!!!
