thats just mind boggling.................

I was trying hard to remember how HUKD was arranged before 'the big change' a year ago. We used to have a better arrangement IMO then, but the memory eludes me.
I have suggested off and on that we could rationalise a bit by having the sales as 'sales' rather than what occurs at present in deals;
item A ( which is something that I randomly like) at retailer A1 (where they have a sale) is 1/2 price. posted by squiggle1.
item B at retailer A1, posted by squiggle2.
item C at retailer A1, posted by squiggle1.
............
(zzzz)
........
item Z at retailer Z15, posted by both squiggles1& 2

I suggested that as there are so few comps and freebies that they could be amalgamated and the sales could have that forum, all year round.

I can only begin to imagine how confusing that would be with duplicate deals in the DEALS section and then again in the SALES section. Sounds like a nightmare scenario to me.

if it aint broke,.................

I think the developer on this site has enough on their plate at the moment what with all the bugs still outstanding (go to last unread being the most important imho lol)

I agree on 'last unread'.

If only I could remember how it was before, then I could explain how much better I thought it was re sales!! I think, that it did get broken back then!!

A sales thread would just have the name of the retailer and the sale dates - not single items, which is what we get now, usually with no mention of the sale.
Could, maybe, also work with general offers like 20% off biscuits at 'Somewhere or Other'; IMO rather than every type of biscuit being listed as a separate deal, but that could still happen in general deals - thus not a duplication.

As to duplication, even if it did go that way, how is that so different with the zillion deals we get now where the item in no cheaper, often pricier than elsewhere but 'with voucher' is part of the deal price. Said voucher having been posted in .... 'vouchers'!!

Personally I think that if it was something people really wanted, the dates of sales could be added to the new retailer pages somehow...

Wouldn't that need a 'sales' thread for the info to be added, the same as the vouchers and deals info.?

It could work entirely differently. e.g. A button on the retailer page, that took you to a little form that literally just had a box for the start date, a box for the end date and a box for a few words about the sale.

I'm thinking of something like the "Upcoming Gigs" box on MySpace (seen a little way down the right-hand of the page, here). Literally just saying "SALES:" with the dates and "Upto 80% off instore" or "50% off DVDs". I suppose there could still be a link to comments about the sale, but it still wouldn't need to be a separate forum.

I don't know if that's a good idea. Like voucher codes, you rarely need/have much more information than that when it comes to sales. I'm just serving up some food for thought. :)

Isn't there a bit of a petty argument going on between members looking at the reviews for Argos?

Saying 'ignore xxxx' is hardly worthy of a 'review'.

Maybe the "ignore xxxx" bit isn't worthy of review, but at least they back up their argument (very constructively). If you feel that there are any unacceptable arguments or chit-chat breaking out in reviews then let us know using the contact us link or reporting a deal for that retailer and giving a quick reason and we'll discuss it.

Yes, I like this, if it is technically possible; so if you want to know if retailer X has a sale, just go to the review page and some helpful soul has input the details.
(Plus a dire warning that only proper sales should be entered!!:w00t:)
