'Share with HUKD' button - featuring on retail websites
OK, I've tried to find reference to this topic on HUKD forums with no luck...
EDIT: Thanks to those who have added retailers to the thread ;)
So what's going on guys? Are you whoring yourselves out to selected stores or are you addressing the needs of the modern hot-key user?
I haven't made up my mind... I don't want HUKD to feel like a corporate biggy feeding the populous with deals from chosen suppliers, but I also don't want to keep HUKD to myself...
EDIT: OF so this is like the FB or Twitter button you see all over the place, good job HUKD!
The list so far:
7dayshop.com
Bee.com
Gameplay.co.uk
Zavvi.com
TheHut.com
ShopTo.net
cclonline.com
richersounds.com
simplygames.com

Has anyone seen it anywhere else?

FYI: "EXPIRED - [BUG]: "Share with HUKD" link on ShopTo.net product page not consistent with Deal Temperature"
Comment #2:
It's not self promotion, any merchants sharing deals to HUKD with the share button will still be penalised, much in the same way they would if they submitted a deal in the normal fashion. It's just to make deal submission from product page a simpler process for our members and shopto customers.
I have seen the [Share on HUKD] buttons on the product pages at Bee.com, Gameplay.co.uk, Zavvi.com, TheHut.com &, as mentioned in the above thread, ShopTo.net.

One positive thing about the button is that if someone does spot a good deal its a nice reminder for them to post on here to share it with other members

Interesting point... But if we were to get some trigger happy 'OMG-I-can't-believe-the-price-ov-everything-on-this-website-its-just-like-sooooo-amazing' types on here, any truly good deals might be buried in the 'New' list of deals before they really had the chance to 'heat up'. I don't know about you but I rarely go more than 3 or 4 pages back in the new deals (usually because I'm on here daily and reach ones I've already seen) and it would be a shame if HUKD got swamped with 'Luke warm' deals.
But as you suggest there is a good contingent of HUKD'ers that are more discerning and critical of what they post... Long may it stay that way!

...However, it is very easy to accidentally click the "HUKD VOTE" button & increase the temperature of a "Deal" listing, maybe without realising this has happened (due to the lag between the click & the transfer of the request to change to the "Deal" listing temperature).
A prompt to confirm this action was as intended would be a suggestion in case of accidental (mis)use on the merchant's site.

I did think about whether it is 'selling out' by making tighter relationships with merchants but I thought that is balanced by the fact a merchant is being transparent enough to show the HUKD temperature on their deals. So it does require some give from them into the idea and opinion of HUKD members.

Tho it may have appeared in the thread FP linked too I didn't realise the heat for the item would be displayed as part of the button on the retailers site... If I've understood you correctly then this is the case... what a good idea! And now I understand FP's message above.
Need a screenshot now. :)

There is nothing transparent about the one-way vote system. Its grossly unfair. There should be a very clear option to vote cold, otherwise it defeats the point of having an up-down vote system altogether.
And I trust the information on how to add this facility is openly available to any etailer on the merchants list?
If as you say its currently only open to "a few retailers in test phase" do you really think it was a well balanced idea to choose "The Hut" group who, as you know, many members of this site have serious issues with (not least regarding your cosy relationship with them)? Actions such as this do nothing but add further fuel to the fire that you are running a biased site that favours certain retailers over others (and obviously with that the conclusion that it is down to money, kick-backs or other special favours!)

VOTE HOT OR CANCEL ?
Any etailer is welcome to get in touch about how to integrate this. I think you over-estimate the willingness of etailers to put this info on their site (obviously I would agree with you that it's to their advantage but not all are as savvy as that).
Not at all, I'm just concerned that it sounded as if it was currently open only to selected sites in a test-phase, as suggested by an earlier comment by JB. If that was\is the case, its clearly an unfair advantage to those companies - and particularly so in light of Scan being banned for encouraging people to post deals (which is painfully similar to having a big 'submit to HUKD' button on every item you sell, don't you think?)
And sort the vote problem out ASAP. I clicked on 'vote' the other day to vote an item cold as it was a crap deal - and guess what happened? How is this fair to the community or to other retailers who haven't opted in?
Have you contacted each & every merchant represented at HotUKDeals.com to make them aware the [Share with HUKD] button facility exists?
If individual merchants currently outside of the scheme do not check the (limited) list of sites that are currently supported by the scheme then how do they know this facility exists?
BFN,
fp.
It's not similar. If a merchant with the button incentivised users to submit with the button etc then we would have the exact same opinion as the Scan situation. Regardless of the mechanism used we don't think it's right for merchants to incentivise people to submit or vote on here. I share you concern on this point.
As far as I know we contacted all of the most popular merchants on here - juliet_bravo was handling that. There's more merchants who are interested but want to see it on other sites first or they are not able to integrate it in their site code yet.
If you see a merchant you want the button on send them an email and point them to us so we can talk to them about how to set it up.

Thanks.
I noticed that Gameplay.co.uk has the [Share with HUKD] button implemented, but the two other (main) sites operated by The Game Group (GAME.co.uk & Gamestation.co.uk) are not supporting the button.
Do you (or juliet_bravo) know if they trialling the facility with their web-based operation first, or do they only wish to incorporate the link to HotUKDeals with their Gameplay.co.uk site?
Are you able to disclose those merchants (privately, if you wish to) that are considering implementing the scheme? I don't wish to waste their or your time by duplicating effort (but if you think it would be worthwhile to ask them directly if they were still deliberating the potential then an 'external' request, or multiple requests, may influence their decision).
(I obviously do not wish to contact their Customer Services team if they already have plans &/or have not had the opportunity to make the necessary changes to the other two sites yet)
On a related note, do you know why GAME.co.uk is no longer within the Quidco database, but both Gamestation.co.uk & Gameplay.co.uk are?
BFN,
fp.
I don't know in regards to Quidco why game.co.uk isn't listed.
