or maybe just give the "hated" their own unspam button or dedicated thread?
#2
Maybe if your threads weren't so much trash then they wouldn't get spammed all the time?

OMG LOTS OF H4TE

there is plenty of other "trash" out there that isnt spammed just because of the member who posted it

These types are trolling though. They post provocative posts to try and get arguements going. It usually works.

So I think it is better to spam them before the inevitable.

^^ I agree, how many people in misc post, I went out and got trashed last night or whos on the beer, or who's out tonight, etc, etc, they all stay, and like all threads if it's not your cuppa walk on by, a thread that was just on by the op and spammed was not "provocative", it was spammed because of who he was plain and simple.

Good idea

i like it :)

Spamming threads in Misc is pointless if you ask me.

Isn't the whole point of Misc that people can waffle on about whatever they please? I agree, certain people start threads to provoke a reaction but I find these no more annoying than the nine million "Who is online tonight, I'm bored and drunk" threads that we see so many of.

If you don't like a thread, don't read it and don't post in it, it's as simple as that.

not really, I have ever incorrectly spammed AFAIK.

I think it would be easier to remove a few members whos threads that mainly get spammed to get there posting rights removed. Would be so much less hate on here.
#13
Interesting that you, as the OP haven't asked for expiring privileges to be removed........
#14
jkk, the mods already do this, it's been the subject of many a thread in "Feedback"

Hmm maybe also true. But theres a few that have been targeted for a good reason lets face it.
#17
yeh good idea, why not show who spammed it?
banned#18
aint this thread been done the odd few times
banned#19

Lots of members hate spam threads for no reason and IMO these members should have their spamming privileges removed.

The mods already have a lot of work to do and constantly unspamming threads that were incorrectly spammed must waste a lot of their valuable time.

Good idea?
Bad idea?
Maybe idea?

yup

much better if the spammers ACTUALLY got done for it rather than getting away with it...but the same people never get suspended

From the HUKD rules: -
"Abuse of the voting system, reputation, expiry and spam buttons will lead to a ban from the forums."

From the HUKD code of conduct: -
“II. Spamming:
There is a zero tolerance to spam here. Anything that is deemed to be so will be removed with immediate effect and the spammer banned at the discretion of Admin and Moderators.

* Empty messages or replies invisible by font and background colour being the same, quotes with no new content or reasonable meaning and repetitive questions or inane words is spam.
* Pornography, pornographic images or sexually offensive material is spam.
* Self promotion of businesses and anyone involved with them, charity request threads made without prior permission, auction sites, personal sales elsewhere, links to personal websites, requests for referrals, referral links, third party affiliate links, advertising for personal gain and displaying of e-mail address in the forums is spam
* Duplicate threads will be deleted at the discretion of moderators if already posted within the last month. Please use the advanced search to avoid this scenario.
* Bumping old threads without good reason is not permitted and will be classed as spamming, as will thread spoiling and hijacking.
* Adding offensive tags or anything considered as spam in any part of a thread, tag line or post will result in a ban
* Threads relating to or discussing members who have been banned or suspended will be removed from the forum.
* Spamming by PM or Private Message will also result in a ban.

If you see any threads that relate to the above then by all means please spam them and leave a message within that thread with an explanation as to why you have spammed it.

Simply spamming a thread because you do not like to see the member posting or the topic of conversation within the thread is not acceptable. If you think a particular thread has breached any HUKD rules then please use the report icon and the moderators will look into it as soon as possible.

Should you wish to read the complete HUKD “Code of Conduct” it can be found HERE if you are unsure of any other aspects
Thank you for your future co operation

so how come we don't see any members banned or suspended with immediate effect then

agreed, there was a thread with substantial support for this a few weeks ago, surprise surprise it got spammed
#23
The rules, if actually followed to the letter, would mean that the vast vast majority of threads in deals, feedback and misc could be justifiably spammed, with no reason to infract the spammers.

There is also a problem with these two rules:
* Adding offensive tags or anything considered as spam in any part of a thread, tag line or post will result in a ban
* Spamming by PM or Private Message will also result in a ban.
Clearly members are not banned for these 'offences'.

Similarly, in this thread which has been under review for some days now, ASB says that the rules for multiID do not mean that the member creating the IDs is banned - just infracted, whilst the multi of themselves is banned!!!
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/465897/code-of-conduct-changes/

If the code of conduct is a moveable feast, then clearly people don't really know where the boundaries are and will feel that the punishments will not be enacted. The Mod have discretion to impose the 'correct discipline' so it is counterproductive to have these prescriptive and ignored penalties.

I think that inappropriate spamming should be dealt with by removal of the spamming privilege.

I don't think that there is ever a reason to target another member, in real life, it's called bullying.
I don't ever think it's acceptable to bully someone on here, or out there.

99% of the threads are returned, so jfk has a good point, as i'm sure the mods have a look through to see if they are deserving to be consigned to the spam room.
