Don't people that expire things wrongly get in trouble though? Always thought you risked being suspended or infracted or whatever???

It would be good if the person who created the thread could unexpire the thread.

If we think it's been done for malicious intent (or someone is doing it often) then we will take action against them. :) Generally, people do use the feature well and we don't get all that many requests to unexpire really.

The username of the people who click the expire button should appear in the threads original post (in small fonts in a collapsible format (javascript), or collapsed format and people click to expand for more info). This way, people use it wisely rather than carelessly or maliciously.

It can't be too difficult to implement, it can be similar to the "thank you" plugin for forum software, instead here people who click the expire button have their username published. No harm done when it's legitimately expired.

I agree it's a good idea for the OP to be able to unexpire their own deal - same as they can expire it. Besides stopping people expiring for no reason, it would save the mods some time, and also means that if something goes out of stock and then comes back in, the original deal can be unexpired instead of a new deal being posted.

Someone is bound to ask "But how will people know something is back in stock if a new deal isn't posted?" Well then add a new message at the end of the thread saying it's available again, and hey presto! the thread goes to the top of the page under the 'discussed' tab. :-D
