Moved to MISC as this is classed as a 'heads up' rather than a specific deal - & thanks for the information

Damn it. Linked the wrong deal. I meant the next sale deal from a few days ago that was the 2nd hottest deal in the newsletter. Just dates, no deals.

No you didn't, fanpages is just pointing out a similar deal from 2009 that was moved to misc, in the assumption that HotUKDeals should operate in accordance with the Common Law principle of precedent.

That's OK. You get at least once chance before you hit the "Ignore list" :)

Yes, I agree. From past experience, "heads up" threads in the "Deals" Forum should be changed to a "Misc" Forum thread until 'sufficient' reports or a formal recognition (either contacting the merchant/retailer, or national press, or similar advertising) is noted.

However, there does not seem to be a consistent 'rule'/'guideline'.

If a thread has reached the prevailing "hot" temperature threshold, then it tends to stay in the "Deals" Forum.
If you "report" the thread at the part of the day when particular Moderators are on duty, you have an easier audience to convince.

I could point you to examples where threads have been moved, or have stayed put until the "Deal" has started (or been confirmed).

Summary: There doesn't seem to be a consistent approach.

Sounds like the rest of the site then. At least that is the one thing they are consistent on. Consistent on not being consistent :D

I may have said something similar once or twice (probably more) times before.
