Well generally marketing guys are spamming and we can usually tell if this is the case... Based on what Duck has said, is this "we can tell" cos of IP addresses, registered email addresses, style of post?
If this was revealed, perhaps how the mod team decide if it is a marketing guy, as opposed to the psssst, we have some cheap tellies next week that might have clear it up, cos having re-read the thread i for one would not be able to tell if it was spamming, self-promotion and that's prolly why i am not a mod lol.
I think (but cannot speak directly for Dino) it does seem a bit cloak and danger is what he is trying to say, apologies if that is completely wrong Dino
I would hope that it could become a bit more transparent. Whilst i respect that admin and mods need some hidden aspects to avoid the spammers circumventing, the idea of this being a community is quite tough if we do not know what is borderline spam.
Take for example the iTunes voucher thread that has gone, i think Emma may have wiped it, not sure, again apologies in advance
A relative newbie posted it, hothothot replied and several posts later it was still not clear to me if it was self-promo or not, so i clicked (as requested when not sure) the expired and spam buttons and posted to leave it be and let a mod decided; which they did cos the thread has gone.
What grounds there was to remove it, i don't know but for us to be a community you cannot have Oracle's who know much more than the villagers and expect us all to know how to help and self-police the posts; can you? :?
NOTE: This has been moved to comment and suggestion, i did not originally post it here cos i didn't wanna wind folks up having the thread been already locked just posting a new one but i'd typed my reply as it was being locked and would have hoped for some answers.....
