They're not going to get much of a profit from this site though. I've just gone to my local Morrisons and picked a copy off the shelf. They had loads at £25.99. So unless you live in the middle of nowhere, this game is going to be available to everyone at that price.
#2
So ironic that the most expensive game RRP ever turns out to be the cheapest on launch. Wish I hadn't bothered with the pre-order now.

does anyone know if the morrissons in st albans have these? and think they will come 6pm tonight?

Hi,

If we suspect anyone of attempting to profiteer, we reserve the right to intervene as per the fs/ft rules.

There is not a lot of room for making this a worthwhile adventure though. Sellers are limited to 2 as per bulk selling rule. Postage and Packing, including recorded delivery charges and any other incidentals, make this seem unlikely in my opinion.

Should the price escalate next week, then we may not be so tolerant re p&p.

If I buy from sainsburys today for say £26, and next week when all the offers are gone, the game is £40 best offer, why can't I charge say £35 for it delivered?

Yes I make a profit, but also the buyer gets a cheaper copy, and hasn't had to queue outside in the cold.

I don't see how anyone looses out in that example?

VibeOne,

It's a simple case that the seller profits from this sale. For that reason, it's pulled full stop. We don't need to be explaining this again. You've been here long enough.

I do try to give the benefit of the doubt. In some cases these posts do serve as a reminder of the rules to other members who may not be familiar. Anyway, he's made a funny comment elsewhere, so we'll let this one go

I understand the rule, I just think if both buyer and seller are doing well out of a deal that should be classed as a good thing. I understand why profiteering rule exists normally, but in instances like this, buyers may well be happy to allow the seller a bit of profit, because they win as well.

Like I said, not intending to sell anyway, just think the rules to protect the buyer actually hinder he/she somewhat in this specific example.

Oh and matt... grow up :) If you think its trolling you really have no idea at all.

Happy to shut up and not discuss it further, just clarifying my post above really.
#14
That just encourages people to take extra copies of the game at low cost, sit on it then sell it later at a higher price and in the process depriving some people of buying the game at the lower price and instead trying to get them to pay the marked up price. The buyer clearly isn't doing well out of this which is exactly why the profiteering rule exists.

Dont admit in the thread that you bought it. Post in another thread that youv'e just bought it for £40 - bingo, you have it covered. (Just kidding)

To be fair, in the instance above, it is profiterring, so I think it right that you cant sell. However, If you were bought it for a gift, suggesting its profiterring 'cos you didnt buy it is sheer madness. Similarly, Last February, I asked how much my iPod touch was worth that I got free with my iPhone. The subject was raised then and the outcome from Rayman, was that I could sell it.

I'm guessing there has just been a change in Rules - or Rayman was just mistaken with his reply?

exactly I'm going to assume at xmas literally every 2nd thread will be locked until the op can prove that their items weren't unwanted gifts and they aren't profiteering.

as for the ipod touch then that would be classed as profiteering as well, yet you can sell the phone you got "free" with a contract but not any "gifts" that came with it.:?

Yes.... But that wasnt what I was told when I asked the question at the beginning of the year. If only I had a database!:whistling:

I'm certain it's a case of a poor decision being made, not being rectified by saying oops.... instead its carried on as if you're completely mad for even doubting it. It works in the fact you cant do anything about it, but on a member level, I cant help thinking it reflects very badly on the admin team.

can't disagree with that. the phrase knowing when to stop digging also springs to mind and unfortunatly that point hasn't quite been reached yet.

It was never our intention to stop members selling items gifted to them, only to crack down on the ones who exploit.

Dec 25/26 will be a busy period no doubt. We'll not be restricting gifts from being sold on, although we will always reserve the right to request further information. We do have other rules such as the bulk selling which we hope prevents abuse.

It's messy sometimes, but never by intention or design. However, we do aim to please and provide a service that reflects many of the principles of this site.

Isn't the rule for selling on, that it needs to be less then the lowest price listed on HUKD, therefore even if one bought it for £32 from Amazon, they're only able to sell it for £25.99 or less because of the Morrisons deal?

no if you can prove you paid £32 from amazon then you can sell it for that (plus a little postage) anything above what you paid will be classed as profiteering.

As ants97 points out, you can sell it for a price on or below that of your initial purchase. Members may however post links to a cheaper price available from an established retailer elsewhere. We may request proof of actual cost in order to prevent possible profiteering.

AScottishBloke. I need to know why you think i'm profiteering? As all the other members in my FS/FT Thread had stated clearly their points and how ridiculas that applied to my thread.

Are you encouraging me to lie about it next time because if i'm going to get penalised for telling the truth and being a good person for it then I dont see why I should in the future and for my everyone's benefit just simply state a lie saying it's a spare copy of game I have as another person has said on the thread. Alot of members are unhappy about this and I have no one to contact to express my view about it. Before you say to use the Contact Us Button. I have in the past and No One Replies Back There would not be so many problems if members of the Forum actually got a say about it.

I think if your implying all Members being Given GIFTS/Compeition Itemswon to be made clearly displayed in the rules. How was I suppose to know you've made up this rule to apply directly to my Thread?

(10) You must NOT list items for sale at higher than the recommended retail price. The marker of RRP will be determined by cross indexing with Amazon or other well known retailer. Profiteering is NOT permitted and this includes items previously found at a lower price in the 'Deals' or ANY forum here.
* Vouchers available as non transferable or with next to no resale value, such as 0.001p for example and generally available free items etc. must NOT be offered for sale or trade.

Where is says above. "Generally Free Items etc. must NOT be offered for sale or trade"

The above does not say anything about Competition Items or Gifts being received. I know the rules fully well from your quote in my thread it's clearly implying you've told me in the past? If this is some sort of personal brigade towards me then I dont find it fair at all. Please can you answer this for me clearly without avoiding it?

Silly rules encourage selling on ebay and the like. Yes, you have to pay fees but less hassle and probably more profit. As I said on the other thread I would be happy to buy something (I wanted) whether it be an unused present or competion prize.

Marky264, I have dealt with you before and your a nice bloke.

What you could of done imo if applicable. Is listed the item you paid for not the copy that was from the competition, and asked for a trade on that. I queried this yesterday and its fine, I know it's not the best of sense but it's the rules of the forum, we all have to abide by them.

Made it clear with a receipt and you would of had no problem, was a bit out of order everyone got on the bandwagon in that said thread. Tbh you should of reported it yourself for a review and not fed the rest of them, as I can see you might of edited it halfway through (Title that is).

On review no good as it was the hardened edition :-(

thanks mate,

I would have but i'm keeping the Hardened Edition for myself and my girlfriend bought it for me yesterday, so the Normal Edition I wanted to put up for sale. I understand what you mean though if I was in the same situation with 2 copies of the same game same editon I would have put that one up for sale. I was just being honest I how I obtained the game. I listed it at a fair price. If was just to list it at £20 I wouldnt have found that fair as that's the cheapest price you have attained it from Makro.

I didnt find it out of order it's just I know i'm not the only one not happy about it as many people expressed their views about it, In a way it was thread spoiling I know but the thread just turnt into a flame war about it as we the commuinity dont have a valid reason or say in the rule where it can be completely justifyed. Theres just no way fighting for it I've given up about it now I just want an answer from AScottishBloke because it seems he has some personal vendenta towards me as in previous times I've been unfairly penalised about it. But I wont go down that road.

I understand where your coming from, and your honesty is probably why I hope you didn't receive a penality regarding the closed thread.:)

But there other places to sell this without the hassle of profiteering rule, its unfortunately being brought to there attention far to much of late and to many whinning threads aren't doing the honest people to well. I really don't feel this rule is ever going to change because it's what HUKD stands for which is fair enough.

You could try selling it AVforums, but I have heard they are starting to crack down on it to of late. Ebay is your other option, but without being snapped, at your on for pure profit either way.:) Seen copies on ebay go for £40 plus. So might be a good thing you getting your thread shut because your bound to make better money elsewhere.

As regards to Ascottishbloke, I'd like to think he doesn't have any personal vendetas agains't any members, I've tried to upset him many times and he hasn't taken the bait.

If you feel you are being unfairly treated you could always try the 'contact us' method, I have never had no reply when being polite and clear. Though I don't feel they will budge on the closure of your thread even for a trade.

Thanks for your words mate, I just wanted to try sell it on here quick and easy as I've done in the past but for items like this I think I may let the dust settle. Ebay isnt really an option for me as it would take too much time and by then the CEX Exchange rate would probably come down lol. I'm just going to take it over to CEX and exchange it there. No loss on my part it's just this issue I feel very strong about but I can see it wont change.

AScottishBloke I hope if we have any sort of tension between us on the forums for it be let go. I dont want to cause any hassle for you on my part I just what a fair explanation about it. I hope I havent been too rude about it It's very hard to express proper emotion through text whilst seeming outragious harsh etc.

You won a prize, it cost you little or nothing to enter. You're selling it now. Clearly you make a profit (assuming you don't sell it for less than a quid). There are many people who enter competitions as back door method of obtaining payment for services, e.g. entering competititions. We're consistent on this matter and dont force you to list.

Nobody encourages you to lie, however you must be truthful in your listings. Perhaps the potential buyer would like proof of purchase in the event of a warranty claim. Telling porky pies here will see an immediate lock down and infraction issued. We aim for trust here, as you well know.

The Contact Us facility is monitored and responded to where appropriate. If you are merely repeating a point that has already been answered then we may not have time to repeat ourselves and as such, our previous instruction/decision stands.

The rules are explicit enough and this is covered, amongst other rules by the profiteering clause. There are others, however we do not feel that it's worthwhile expanding the rules in even greater detail.

We're looking at simplification, not expansion of the rules, however that requires members to respect the principles upon which the site promotes., not finding ways to exploit.

I don't see the relevance of making statements without facts to back up. You say parts of the profiteering rule are silly, but offer no explaination of which part(s) nor do you explain why. If you take the time to explain, then we can give consideration to the points you may be trying to make.

But Mods, people can (if they want to) lie about where their items come from. Yes, I know you don't encourage lying but surely it would be better to say items (that have been won or gifted) cannot be sold over the rrp or average selling price of said item. I know I'm repeating myself but I'd rather buy a competion win off HUKD forums than off of ebay at a highly inflated price.

I still have the same item and the the cash from the sale just as I would if I sell the "prize" or "gift", I can't see the difference.

Because you paid for the other one. Usually have a receipt.

Where is the new items going to be sealed?

Your gaining money but your not profiteering as your selling something you already paid for at lower then the price you paid.

I see where you trying to go with it. But unsealed items tend to be worth less, as there deemed as second hand.
