lol This'll end up in a suspension.

Don't mock the Mods!!!

Hi Nassar,

It's common forum etiquette to leave a reason when cold voting.

This site is user driven, our members spend a lot of time sourcing and posting deals.

For someone to spend 10 seconds clicking through and voting every deal cold is totally unfair on those who have spent time contributing to the forum (as you found here http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/419136/umbro-england-shorts-was-17-now-10-/)

Please ensure you offer constructive comments when cold voting in future. Drop us a line if you can agree to be fair in your voting (ie respect the fact that someone has gone to a lot of time and effort posting, and point out the cheaper deal you've found elsewhere.) and we'll look at unblocking your vote

Also, it's worth noting that Private messages should always remain Private, as such I've removed the ones you posted in the OP of this thread.

Ooohhhhh - Power to the Mods

I'm so glad they are addressing it - it really gets my goat :x

I think you lost any semblence of reasoned argument with your final line lol

If you dont wish me to express an opinion by voting than that would just be your facist opinion by supressing my right to vote."

I would say it is only common courtesy is to offer a reason for voting cold.

Serial cold voters are annoying when they don't offer a comparison etc OR the ones that vote cold on food deals for example because they think the item is unhealthy or not to their liking:roll:

Did you give reasons OP or did you just vote cold:whistling:

A lot of us are increasingly coming to the idea that it should be mandatory.

In that case every deal is going to be hot because people do not want to search for an exact cheaper product to back up their opinion, why do we have to give a reason for voting it cold if we dont need a reason for voting hot?

Any many other factors come into the frame, i.e. delivery time, level of after service, online or instore, reputation of the company.

Yeah but if you dont know of an equivalent deal then i'm not sure how a person comes to the conclusion its cold, what are you basing the cold vote on.

I wouldn't vote something cold because it took a week to arrive,or whether its only available instore, that wouldn't prompt me to vote it cold.

But therein lies the problem,we don't all vote based on the same criteria.

It wasn't tinned

On a serious note, why are people posting deals on here? Is it to help others or for an ego trip? Those that moan about cold voting, I suspect the latter. It's not like you win a prize for getting a hot deal.

I do it partly as a return for the deals I take advantage of on here but if all my deals were voted cold without any good reason - would I bother to post? Definitely not.

Its always nice to have your efforts appreciated....

I bet most of them were for DVD's at HMV?

Maybe if the mods addressed the abuse and childish behaviour towards people who voted cold and gave a reason then more people would explain why they did. But it seems that's not important...........it's more of an issue to make sure someone who has gone to the trouble of posting a deal doesn't get their feelings hurt.

Deals is turning into a ass kissing contest. So they spent 5 seconds nicking a deal of offer of the day, mse or from an e-mail newsletter or in many DVD deals posted something that has been that price for months. It's not hard work. Rarely does someone go searching long and hard for real bargains. You get some but not a lot.

If you have to vote hot or nothing then abolish heat full stop.

To my mind a cold vote should be if you know of a comparable cheaper deal.

If something is not to your personal taste then abstain, don't vote cold.

Sy you're a grumpy get at times:p

It shouldn't just be price imo......quality of the item etc.

I think if people should abstain from voting cold then it's not worth voting at all. People take it all so seriously what temp their deal gets to.

And........yes...........i know.:-D :p

And plenty of other things too - its not a fair system asking everyone whose going to vote cold to leave a message. If something was cheaper elsewhere, I'd rather be told so once than a hundred times.

The voting system should be there to allow a fair heat to be set based on the merits of a deal. If a deal which a user considers to be very average is at a thousand degrees, why shouldn't that user be allowed to use their vote to lower the heat a little?

The net result is the hottest deals are, in general, becoming more boring, everyday, mass-market yet unspectacular offers and genuine bargains are getting lost in the ether and not getting the recognition they deserve! Its time to rethink the voting (system and formula) - it should be more dynamic, based on voting ratio and not just absolute vote count and people should be able to vote hot or cold without fear of criticism or having privileges removed!

I don't think this is what is happening. It's usually(if not always) members going on a spree.

These same people would smear their walls with excrement if they were in a prison cell.

 If someone wants to have a dirty protest on HUKD let them. I'm sure there are plenty of people who click hot on loads of deals on the frontpage without really thinking of the merits too (a clean protest?).

It is about price if you're comparing like for like.

But nobody ever agrees on this topic,so i'm abstaining:p

I disagree. :p

If there were 2 'exact'deals, and one was from PC World reserve and collect, and the other Argos, but a penny more expensive.
Argos would get my 9 degrees of heat, and PC World would feel the force of my coldness every time.

That's pathetic.

So you basically vote cold for a better deal purely because you don't like a supplier? Whatever next? Voting cold because you don't like a member?

I have to disagree in this case. Reserve and collect doesn't exist at DSG, it's a lie as they never bother to set your orders aside so 9 times out of 10 you make a wasted journey. Argos on the other hand it does:)
#31
guv
So you would vote any PC World deal cold even if it were cheaper than elsewhere?

No because I don't waste my time voting on here. But if I did and the deal was reliant on a non existent service, then yes.
[admin]#32
The fact is we aren't trying to force members to vote one way or another.
It's about respecting other members.

Using an excuse that a deal has been "nicked" from another forum is nonsense.
We can see incremental deals from one offer, eg someone posts an aggressive offer for Argos, there'll be a flurry of Argos deals.. etc
Sourcing a deal, price checking it, although to some of you seems trivial can take time and effort. For a newish members to post their first deal and it go sub zero within minutes with no explanation and no thanks is appalling, and as a community we shouldn't be letting that happen.
Members who have a negative experience in their first couple of days of deal posting might not come back.

We're not giving members the chance. New members aren't going to join in with deals chat, feedback etc if we treat them badly.
Is it so difficult for us to say "Thanks" to members posting a deal, or offer a link to a cheaper price without kicking off at them for making a mistake?
Some members never post deals, never thank members for going to any effort, never offer anything constructive whatsoever yet swan about voting everything cold. It's antisocial and it's in no way helping to improve our site.

Fair enough, if you cold vote something and five members have already commented that it's cheaper elsewhere... but please at least try and state your opinion on the deal and offer something constructive :)

That goes for hot deals aswell btw, if someone's posted a good offer, say thanks!

Stop deals going negative then - cap the low temperature at zero - problem solved. Don't instead blame the people who choose to exercise an option given to them (which you are doing, whether you want to admit it or not!)
[mod]#34
No mention of those who abuse those who give reasons. And i said deals nicked from another forum didn't take a lot of effort, nothing about voting them cold for that reason.

It's so political on here with MP type answers. lol

Also........with regards to the thanks, many people do but you never see Admin pop up on certain deals and say "Thanks for the money you've earnt me today on the click throughs" :whistling:

Why is this deal cold?

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=427307

Can't be on price surely and that seems to be a major voting reason if you read these hot/cold vote threads.

Purely 'cos its tat as you've said I would think.

That and the OP comment "TASTEFUL, EXQUISITE, PATRIOTIC, AND LOADS OF OTHER LIES" which indicates it's only been posted to attract negative votes for his anti UK agenda.

Like you, I rarely vote (Unless I think it's a good'un or vice versa and worthy of the effort). That "Deal" is no exception and I certainly can't be assed to fuel his agenda one way or the other.

I saw the thread as not hot as it's tat, not cold because of the saving (if you want to buy that sort of tat) so therefore warm for entertainment value as basically a 'funny' or 'agenda driven' deal:thumbsup: Just a wee analysis there ;-)

The interesting thing is it shot down as soon as I posted it in this thread. So is that because of the deal or because of the haters on this thread proving a point? I suppose we'll never know and I doubt very much if Ibiza will care as he's had his fun either way :)
