there should be a separate sub-forum

They have their own category!

People are free to post what they want, and vote for want they want here. If you do not want to see them, set up a custom page that excludes the groceries forum.

here here i say, you cant beat a grocery bargin or points code, obviously bristol deal has stashes of cash , not like approx 90% of the country trying to struggle by day by day.

I like to see which supermarkets have things on offer I do my majority shop at morrisons but since joining this site I've picked up loads of bargains from the others that I wouldn't have known about before.
#4
Please keep posting supermarket deals where-ever and whenever as they are one of the main reasons I choose to visit HUKDs on a regular basis! ( I'd much rather browse through those than endless X-BOX deals) But that is my own preference! ( Afterall we all have to eat)
#5
Oh what's the point of giving feedback on here.

Same rubbish, different day.

Exactly!

Just because it doesn't suit you - does not mean that it won't suit others. Seems selfish IMO. Certain deals don't effect me at all - so I ignore them - surely you could do the same.
#8
yea i agree with lynn1728 we all have to look after the pennies our families and Eat!!

Maybe I should become unemployed and spend all day traipsing around 5 different supermarkets, see how the other half live!
#10
Okay, is there any way to filter OUT specific stores? Maybe if I could get rid of deals from Tesco and Argos, it should cut down the amount of deals by about 60%.

But I want to know how to filter out specific retailers, like I said. Is that possible?
[admin]#14
Not really - unless you added every retailer.

For what you want you would probably be best adding all the topics except groceries as this will just keep out groceries no matter which merchant they are under.

If you did Tesco then you wouldn't see DVDs, electronics etc either.

Well it's not actually half is it - percentage wise?
However, I'm quite interested in your new avatar. I'm too old ( and probably a burden - well not yet, but I intend to be - on society - and I rather like supermarket deals but not so much that I'm incapable of clicking past them) to make out the final word. Perhaps you could enlighten me, please.:) Every little ........?

Do you believe that this site is for you and you alone? You hate the supermarket deals, you don't want Tesco deals and you don't want Argos deals? Did I miss where it says "before posting a deal you should check with BristolDeal that it meets his required criteria".?
Get off your high horse and do the same as the rest of us do - scroll past it. That's what the headlines are for - a brief synopsis of what is inside the thread, if you fancy it click on it, if you don't just keep going.
As people have said before, some folks rely on supermarket deals to eat well with what money they have in their budget for the week. On the other hand, some folks rely on XBox games deals to get their weekly fix of whatever it is these games give to them. Others rely on HD TV deals to enhance their television viewing pleasure. HUKD provides for all these people and loads more besides. And that is the beauty of this site - anyone, whatever their budget, can make use of it. And 99.9% of people do so without whingeing about what the others are posting.
Rant over.
#17
Well if people actually followed the rules of posting deals and put the name of the retailer in the thread title, it would be easier to avoid them. But of course some people don't read the instructions and so you get threads called "99p" and nothing else.

And no, I don't think the site is for me and me alone, but I always find it ironic when someone says the site is for everyone and then gets on their own high horse about how I should just lump it if I don't like it.

And for someone with a shopping trolley as their avatar, I could guess which stance you'd be taking right away. :-D

BristolDeal I honestly think your idea of filtering out grocery deals based on the merchant is a bad idea. Most of the grocery merchants also have many other deals for electronics, dvds, clothes and more.

The solution is to filter out if they are grocery no matter which merchant. Happily the grocery deals are already in a specific topic called... groceries.... and happily there is an easy way to go to Customise and set the Custom tab to show all topics except Groceries.

I think this is one case where a solution exists for your problem...

But Bristoldeal wouldn't buy ANYTHING from Tesco even with a nuke pointed directly at them so they don't care about missing out on anything else they sell

Oh yeah, I forgot about the trolley. Actually, when I chose that avatar I was thinking about all the shopping in general generated from this site and all the websites with their "add to cart", "add to trolley", etc. Supermarkets didn't cross my mind.
I understand what you are saying about all the supermarket deals and people not posting the retailer in the title but I think it is something we are all just going to have to put up with and the mods will always be kept busy correcting the titles of threads. Other see it as having to trawl through all the Dell computer deals, or DVD deals to get to the stuff that they are interested in.
Everyone will be happy on this site when the moon is blue; or when it really is made of cheese (bought on special offer in Tesco)!! :p
#23
Shh, don't talk about the Moon and Tesco in the same sentence - they'll be scoping out land for a new store! :w00t:

Hmmm. Speaking of high horses!!!!!!

Since this is the feedback forum, giving his opinion of would be good for him as a suggestion is a problem now is it?

Personally, I just filter out all grocery deals. Not because I am too rich - but because seeing an offer for a tin of beans, isn't why I use this site.

We couldnt filter prior to the change, so it was often a source of annoyance. It would be good if forums could be filtered by shop. I can understand why you wouldnt want to view Tesco deals - if you dont have a shop near you.

But hey, gag the person that expresses a preference that differs to yours!

Sorry guv, your post wasn't there when I started my one above. I'm not trying to gag BristolDeal at all (I doubt very much whether he is gaggable (word??)).
What does your sentence beginning "Since this is the feedback forum ........" mean? :?

LOL :giggle: You're probably not wrong there. Only ones that might beat them to it are McDonalds.

Do you think they'll run a shuttle bus between the two?
[HUKD Blog Network]#28
HUKD is probably as popular as it covers all deals... Im not particularly interested in Tesco or Dell deals ( dont really know what im interested in till i see it :) ) but i simply scroll past. Mods always seem to have the titles amended pretty quickly if theres no retailer etc, so i dont find it a problem.
Surely the whole ethos of HUKD is for the members as a whole to decide on deals, hence the hot/cold voting system. ( I know if i posted a tesco deal that hit -200 id think twice before posting a similar one!)
Of course as a member you have the right to voice your opinion but one mans meat is another mans posion and all that! :-D
#29
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just came back from Asda at Billingbrooke and in the discontinued shelves they had some cans of baked beans with dents in them for only 20p!!!!! Get down there now and stock up!!!! (When I went they only had 1 left!!!!!!!!!)

This is my first deal, please vote hot and leave me some rep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(in case you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic :whistling:)

Amazing this person has started this thread yet he/she probably posts on more Tesco threads than most others!
Definitely need to get out more ;)
#31
Haha, you fool - I post on them slagging them off and voting them cold, not starting them.

And you have a fine idea of "getting out more" when you've obviously had to trawl around to find this thread to have a go at me!

I think he/she said you post on more threads, not post more threads.
#33
The point still doesn't make sense - this original thread was about the amount of supermarket deal threads being started. I don't start them. I never claimed I didn't post on them.
#34
I can't be sure what he/she means, but, I think what they are trying to say is that by posting on so many Tesco deals, you are bumping them to the top of the "Discussed" forum, and bringing more attention to Tesco.

If you believe that your posts and avatar dissuade more people than persuades people to shop at Tesco, then your quest is working.

If it subliminally gets people to shop at Tesco, then you are inadvertantly a walking free advert.
#35
You're crediting the users of this forum with way too much intelligence.

BristolDeal, you are becoming just a bit too free and easy with your insults. :x I take umbrage at this. You are either lumping yourself in with the users of this forum, or you think that you are above everyone else's intelligence level. If it is the latter, I would suggest you go and find an alternative forum where you can all discuss the theory of Tesco in peace and quiet without us rabble getting in the way.
#38
Oh I make loads of mistakes on this forum, I'm not immune from my moments of thickness. :)
1 Like #39
Well, that was a great big fat moment of thickness. You have got enough enemies on this site, without going and making even more. I'm on your side, in that I believe everyone is allowed an opinion. However, insulting my - and everyone elses - intelligence is hardly constructive.
As to your views on Tesco. I'm not going to get into a debate - all I will say is, if Tesco were to be toppled (by the likes of you) I'm sure there are plenty who would be willing - and able - to step into their shoes.
