I've just checked & it had been spammed. There is an existing thread for the same deal & the last post in that thread was made on 23/11/08 - so not a month old & I think that's why yours was spammed:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/259404/austin-powers-1-2-3-3dvd-box-set-no/

If a post is removed it's best to do an advanced search or check the tab to see if it's been bumped with a reminder. Thanks

Posted 1 month 2 weeks ago.

Only one comment (left on 23/11/08) since 19/10/08.

...so it REALLY is reaching the masses of HUKD users.

I have nothing to check why my post was removed....it's gone so can't see any "discussion"

Now I presume this was done by a moderator, as only the mighty mods have this power.

Can I just correct you there... all members can spam threads and remove them from the forums. It just may take a few members with full power to do so.

A mod doesn't need to be involved at all.

Ok, fair enough. But when deals etc that I have posted before have been spammed I'm still able to view them. There's usually a good reason why in the discussion boxes or a PM.

This particular one hasn't (as far as I can tell) been spammed as it's just gone, vanished and I can't see the discussion forum for any reason and I've had no PM.

I just think it's very rude of whoever to do this without any explanation.

I really should have better things to do with my life than post HOT deals, and when this happens it makes one think "why bother".

An explanation (have I mentioned that before) by the person who did it would be appreciated.

You can't view spammed threads.

You can't view spammed threads.

You can, or well, I can at least for a short while after they've been spammed. I've even posted a comment in the discussion on a spammed & expired thread. I'm not lying.

You are talking about an "Expired" thread, not "Spammed". When someone expires a thread, it can still be written in etc.

A "Spammed" thread disappears from the forum, recent activity, subscribed threads etc.

Ok.

But my original point was not about why you cant see the thread but "For whatever reason they did this I would have thought they would have had the decency to PM me to explain why they had done so, but after waiting 1/2 an hour after Austin had dissapeared I still have no message from the guilty moderator.

The same deal was posted over 6 weeks ago, and as I have recently bought the boxset I thought that I should share the deal with other HUKD users. My understanding is that if a deal has been previously posted, but is over a month old then all is well for the deal to be listed again."

I've since learned that it may well not be a mod who spammed it. So appologies to mods. But what is wrong with a curtious explanation why it was spammed ;and as the deal was first posted 6 weeks + ago I thought that it was a good dea to repost it (as is the case with dozens of posts). As it stands at present there are plenty of folk who will miss out on the deal. How often do you search back 6 weeks+ ? Most folk look at what has been posted in the last 24/48 hours, a week at most. Hell, I didn't know I wanted the AP boxset till I saw it at this price? Bargain!! I thought. I'm sure (especially at this time of year) that a lot of people are looking for none specific bargain purchases. They aint gonna find the AP boxset now unless they hit lucky with the HUKD search function. Who loses? Everyone.

In this case it is I who must apologise. I normally make it my priority in cases such as these to PM the user immediately (as anyone who's ever had a thread removed or moved by me hopefully knows) but I have missed that on this particular post.

As far as I know we've had a few posts of this item over the last month which have also been removed, although I guess that they were removed because the original thread was still under one month old...

Delayed appology happily accepted Ducky :-)

As the original post was 6 weeks + ago can you undo your removal or shall I repost (baring in mind all that I have said etc) when I have finished watching my Sky +'d "Survivors"?

See, I told you I wasn't lying.

This is both spammed and expired and I can see it, read it and write in it.

Thought I was going mad.

no need to make a new duplicate post. Just add a comment to the existing one if you really think it needs bumping to the top. Enough duplicates on here as it is!

spammed & expired stay on. people keep spamming & expiring when they should just press one.

if a few users spam a message then it gets auto deleted. Once expired, then it cannot get spammed so a mod has to delete it.

NEVER press spammed then expired.
#15
Once something has been expired (because several members have clicked it) then lines go through both spammed and expired.

A thread can only be spammed or expired, not both at the same time.

You think the thread has been spammed, it hasn't, it's been expired.

csiman is right in that if people hit both it causes problem with most being expired meaning they can't be spammed.

 Maybe we need a whole new thread explaining why people shouldnt hit both? ;-)

I don't think it's possible to press both (even though it changes to "spammed" and "expired"). I think it just registers the first one you've pressed...

I thought you used to only be able to press one, I've just tested and it appears you could still expire after spamming. Not sure if it registers or not though.

EDIT - Maybe people hit expire then spam?

Do you understand this yet? It's not spammed and expired. If a thread is spammed it will have spammed in the title, and you won't be able to see it at all. If it is expired, it will have expired in the title.

But there are red lines through both spammed and expired??

But Ducky's comments make it clearer

Anyway can a Mod delete this thread now please as all is resolved.

I think, as an unexperience HUKD user, that all this thread shows is that confusion and misunderstanding is rife.

Anyway, MOD, please delete, as all is resolved and clear.

It is rare to have a thread deleted on Feedback.

Press the report http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh89/thesaint01/pics%20for%20forum/report.gif button, and ask them to lock it, or you can just ignore it.
