looks s*it. can hardly be bothered to read what people have written anymore. so much white even in classic view and the most simple and effective thing of all, TEMPERATURE BARS, are GONE !!!!(hidden in the actual topic which is USELESS and extremely and uncessarily time consuming) how do we know how hot anything is anymore? plus u have to click deals to get only deals then click hot or new etc. as the site is hotukdeals it should go to deals page automatically, not have all the other forum topics merged in one view, u wont be getting new visitors by doing that.

no brainer.....go back to old style. hard to be constructive when its so very very wrong

the new graphics and colours are very nice however there is no need to section things out it well before so switch it back to the classic style that everyone can use and was happy with

Absalute Rubbish, will keep checking to see if changed back to normal before using it, as its totaly unusable, should of just updated it colour wise or new buttons, just to make it look fresh/different from time to time, qvc change there look every year, by colours, size etc...but not to this extent....
bring it back:x

its a little unfair to just bombard the admin team with unhelpful comments like "it looks *****". I think they have implemented some good functionality into the site, i would agree that its a little too white for my liking. Change freaks people out and i think thats whats happening here, theres a lot of good stuff in the new website, just needs to be tweaked to perfection.

I used to look at the site every day - now it is full of dull chat like this.

I just want deals, freebies and vouchers - not discussions (at the end of the day I ask my friends for advice etc)

Listen to the people, go back tot eh old site.

it is fair, the users are the people who basically power the site, no users = no site. almost 500 people have taken the time to sign the petition, that speaks for itself.

above all this is an absolutely insane time to implement what is in effect a HUKD BETA website...do it in feb when nobody gives a.

Isn’t it time someone locked this like the others....

Can’t believe the new site, what an enormous backward step for savers, A giant leap backward

completely vacuous ..... utter utter cobblers

elmo u need to setup your custom thread and select vouchers deals and freebies and then use the custom tab to get your usual daily fix of the hot stuff. but you still wont be able to glance to see the very hottest deals at the moment. and why you should have to setup a 'custom' tab to see this basic mix of stuff which in the old days would of automatically been presented to you is beyond me, but hey ho.

I can't seem to be able to upload an image, but please try this on Firefox on the Mac. The menu has gone crazy and I get it running down the page all over the top of other text on the page.

If you don't like the chat, don't go to the forums!

unique? It now looks like all those advert websites (you know the ones, you do a websearch and get thousands of results for "review xxxxx at yyyy" or "find cheap prices on nnnnnn at ttttttttt" and "find user opinions and cheap prices at pppppppppppp". Those horrible affiliate based sites that offer no real info. Obviously this site DOES have real info, but it's now hidden (plus one look at it and you don't want to find it).

It's far too cluttered and messy - too many different colours to distract, too much going on in general on each page and each section/post isn't broken up enough - it all seems to be one big mass.

i just find it rock hard to find anything.....it's not user friendly like the old site

I'm only a new member here but have been browsing for as long as I can remember so for what it's worth:

I love the idea behind the new site I just don't think it's been executed very well. Obviously a lot of work has gone in to building the back end and the way it works on a series of filter options is potentially a great way to categorize the content on the site. However, I'm really not fond of the way the forums have been incorporated in to this system - I would much rather have all the main content; deals, vouchers etc in one location which can be sorted using the advanced filter options - and have the forums stand alone and completely conventional.

The header looks sloppy to me, the old version was nicely designed and worked - the tagline in the logo looks like an afterthought and the logo it's self looks very plain and rushed and just dropped in place without much thought. Then the right hand side of the header is equally rushed looking, the link text is far too big (not much smaller than the logo font) and sticks out like a sore thumb - the logo on the left is bottom aligned in the header and the info on the right is top, as they use similar font sizes it just doesn't sit rite in my eyes.

I'm not keen on how the two main horizontal navigation/filter bars are identical in style - one specifies a category of product and the other is the actual categories of the site/different pages - but it just looks like one continuation of the same thing on to a new line - as a first time visitor I don't thing I would have a clue what all that did, and that you needed to select an option from each line to filter down the results.

There is no definition in colour between different elements on the "forum" pages - it's all just content on a white/light grey background and consequently very hard to read as nothing has borders, it just looks like a load of text and images thrown on to a white page.

I don't know why there is an inconsistency in the page width, as you browse the main pages the page is centre aligned with a fixed width, but when you click a deal to enter the 'forum' - the pages jump to 100% fluid width which doesn't look very nice for those of us using widescreen monitors. Not that using the whole area on screen is a bad thing, but everything is so white and undefined that it's not easy to use.

Anyway, no offence intended to the designer(s)/developer(s) - just a few observations I have made, as I say, there is great potential in the new functionality, it's just not being executed very well as people are going to find it so confusing to navigate which is just about the biggest problem you want to avoid on such a rich content driven site.

Well we were all given the opportunity to test it out before it went live -although I think its taken us all by surprise that it changed over today. It's a bit random, and perhaps not the best move just before Xmas.

The site has been down a lot for me today and the RSS feeds have failed to load several times. I think it's just going to take a little time to settle down and for us all to get used to the new look.

I like the way you can filter the deals/freebies etc now. Makes for much qicker navigation I think.

Just my tuppenceworth

I am sure the admin and whoever else have worked hard on the site, but i find it difficult to navigate, the font is very small and the site generally is a bit messy , for example the control panel and pm bit at the top, the forums themselves are not very user friendly. I am sure that more negative feedback isn't really wanted but as it's users that make a site what it is i thought i would put my 2 pence worth in.

I have one main problem with this site: Please separate the 'hot deals' from the forum.

When I look at deals, I like to see the information like it used to be displayed on the front page; i.e. a title, a picture and a description.

When I go in to a forum, I want it to look like a forum; i.e. a list of topic titles that you click on to read the content.

Under the old system that was fine, because they were separate. Now I have to keep clicking on 'text only' when I want to look at forum posts, and 'full detail' when I want to see the deals.

Silly, silly change trying to combine it in to one. A main page (in this case with deals) and a forum beyond/underneath that is the way any site should work...this one included.
#18
There's an old adage which goes something like "If it aint broke don't fix it"
Developers I'm sure you have worked very hard on this new site but I really think you should start taking notice of all these posts.

I actualy think the opposite really - for the forum section of this site it is the colour scheme that is the problem. A back ground colour with breaks in is needed IMO, and I think that the header looks too cluttered, and also that a forum main page wouldn't go amiss.
#21
It's just not user friendly, it's over complicated, pants to look at, and off putting. Won't be doing much browsing on here until it's changed back :x
#22
I have no idea why this change has been made, without warning or discussion - are the lemmings in control?

Personally, I find the new look cluttered, confused and unfriendly. I really don't want to filter out potentially useful stuff in order to cut down on the garbage - and I can't even read my own bloody comments as I type them because the font size is so small!! :x

The old structure worked for me - I rarely used the forums, but I checked the deals continuously and looked for a voucher if I was about to buy.

I'm really not sure that I can be bothered to hack about much longer - someone else can keep trying the beta version and I'll check back from time to time to see if it has been fixed.

I agree! I used to love this site. I have tried with this...came on it this morning and back again tonight but don't have any desire to stay on now. I just don't find it a pleasure now.

Has done MSE a MASSIVE favour IMHO

Highguyuk, your thread is different.

My sentiments too.

Seems the Admin won't give a simple yes or no either so I can pack my bags and head off elsewhere.
