yh you should allow well known websites to be posted on the hot deals section even if its not a uk site but in the title it should say like (us site).
#2
Havent ordered personally, but the site gets decent reviews from the people on the hexus forums (search in the bargains section).
#3
Seems good prices ,How much is shipping though? (I'd imagine thats the most expensive part of the purchase)

yes, I've noticed them on a few other forums as well.

Shipping is $8 for the first T-shirt, then it falls per t-shirt if you buy more, as it goes by weight as well. Even with shipping, they are still good prices.

Say you add 5 tees, the shipping charge is $15.50 (£7.80) (therefore $3.10 per tee or £1.60) So total cost for 5 tees is $65.50, which is £33, or £6.60 per tee.

I'm expecting my tees any day now. I'm waiting to see how good a fit the sizes are, then I'm going to order a few more in this sale.

I have ordered from them in their $10 sale before (just before christmas).
All was fine, can't quite remember how long they took to come, but no longer than i would expect from the US.

I ordered 3 as i read on another forum that you could order up to 3 without getting stung by customs. Don't know how true this is?
(i guess 3 x $10 tees = less than £18, so maybe true)

I would def. use them again

I nearly ordered loads from them a few weeks ago, but then I got paranoid about the sizes and quality of the t-shirt material - so feedback from you emma would be great!!
#7
Thanks for the feedback phil, good to know. I'll let you know as well BristolDeal. I've ordered a few mens tees for me, as I like the shape better.

Think they have changed their t-shirt material now, they supply their own, where as before they used to buy them from other companies.
Might order some myself soon......!

Plus the risk of an £8 charge from the Royal Mail + Import duty on the full amount (inc p&p). I thought that was why non UK offers were frowned upon?

Yeah they are a few t shirts i love on there but out of print at the moment. Would like to make the most of the postage but don't want to get taxed at the same time
#11
Nice designs etc. but I'd worry about customs etc. :(
#12
It's not so much the customs, more the RM afaik. Because they charge an £8 handling fee for taking your parcel to C&E to be checked they are very likely to do that IF they think C&E will tax the parcel. I've always thought it well out of order that postage charges also get taxed, seeing as the service for the most part has been provided off british soil. More proof of ripoff Britain.

To be quite honest import duty I wouldn't mind paying, it's the £8 RM scam that REALLY pi**es me off. Bigtime:x
#13
Don't think you get import if the price of the goods is less than £18 (somebady confirm this?)

FOR 3 T-SHIRTS

3 x $10 = $30 = £15.12
shipping = $14

Total = $44 = £22.18

so its £7.39 per t-shirt - not too bad if they are good quality, and no import duty extras to pay hopefully.

Hmmm....the £18 is just for VAT not duty...not sure now!
#14
Ordered a tshirt a few months ago.

Love the tshirt, one of my faves. Took about a week to come i think. Size is fine. same size as most my other medium sized tshirts. material is good also.

Gets the thumbs up from me!!
#15
I have bought from them many times, I have bought about 12 tshirts in all. All I say is keep your order to about three shirts, I think you pay customs duty on goods above £18.

You do pay about $11 postage but three tshirts plus P+P came to about £21, I wasnt grumbling.

Yeah good idea thanks mate

Just to put this into rough perspective re C&E...

Purchases over £18 are liable to VAT IF they are VAT ratable.
In the case of clothing you are also liable to 12% Import duty BUT only if 12% of the total is greater or equal to £7.

So in general import duty won't be applied as long as you don't go overboard, just VAT. As for the VAT it's an RM lottery, all depends on whether the sack your parcel is in gets delivered to C&E for checking as far as I can see, but if it does you also have to pay RM £8 for stitching you up PMSL.

That's how I read it anyway:thumbsup:

Just stumbled across this UK based company - DShirt.

http://www.dshirt.com/

T-shirts at £9.99, plus 20% Quidco cashback which can't be bad! Looks to be a very similar site to Threadless. Well let's face it, it's actually a direct copy. But no customs hassles...

Whuh? Are they buying threadless shirts and selling them here??
#20
I don't think so, the concept and layout of the site is basically the same though. I only just noticed they hardly have any t-shirts available though - only 11!

I got my tees guys ... they are a perfect fit for me, but the OH's are too small :? And I think I spent too much as there's a big label on the front talking about customs charges. But the parcel says something like, "This parcel will not be delivered until charges are paid." But it was sitting in my hall, I didn't pay.

Do you think they would invoice me or anything?
#25
looks great! allow people to post deals on those is what i say

What size does he normally take and what did you order? :)
#27
That would be telling. They're just a bit snug. I think the male sizes would be easily comparable to UK standards, from the looks of the tees.
#28
I want some pictures emma :whistling:

I'd need XL - the last time I ordered an XL t-shirt from somewhere like Threadless it was MASSIVE - Dawn French sized, ridiculous. Just didn't want that happening again!
#30
Yeah, that's what we thought BristolDeal. But the XL was snug ...

@ emasu ... Satan will be ice skating to work :p

Ive been buying from Threadless for a couple of years now, great tshirts and always getting asked about them by mates. Their 'select' tees, although more expensive are printed on american apparel tshirts which feel really nice so thats worth looking out for!
#32
How'd you get on Emma?, Would you recommend threadless?
#33
Highly recommended. Shipping was a little slow, but that's understandable as it is the US.

I bought the exact right sizes for me - if anyone needs any help with that just PM me.

Unfortunately I made my order just before the $10 sale started (can't remember if I said this above, but it was about 2 days before). I emailed them to see if customer services could do anything about it, but they politely said nope.

The tees are of excellent quality, very good material. My little nephews particularly liked the one with the Batmobile getting a flat tire.

When it came to my door, there was a customs bill in the outside, with something like £15 - but it said this parcel will not be delivered until this is paid, but I already had the parcel, so I'm not sure what the craic was with that!! I ordered 5 tees, so went over the customs limit, so will probably order less in one go the next time, just to make sure there will be no charges (even though I didn't pay any this time)

So I think I'll post the next $10 sale in the deals section, if admin agrees, of course. Apparently they have them about 4 times a year, so should be another along in a few months.
#34
$10 sale now on! Can this be posted in the Hot Deals section if it is allowed?
[admin]#35
I think it's ok. There's been quite a bit of feedback on them.
#36
I'll pop a post up then... i've just made another order :)
#37
I've used 80stees.com before - a similar US site that specialises in designs from 80's tv shows/films/bands.
They usually also have money off vouchers and delivery was quick. Would recommend them as well.
#38
All for allowing deals on websites based abroad as long as they have reasonable shipping and the deal as a whole would still be good.
#39
Oh and I just bought 3 really nice looking designs
#40
I ordered 5 T-shirts on their last $10 sale. [I had previously ordered a T-Shirt before this]. I got stung with a customs charge of about £12 so unless you are prepared to pay the customs charge, I'd stick with the recommended 3 or less T-shirts. [I didn't know about this when I ordered]

The T-shirts are great quality, so I'd definately recommend them. One word of advise though, alot of women have said they have to order a little bit bigger size because of the sizing. Not sure how valid this is as I'm not a girl :p
