Oh come on. I know your meaning well, but if there a serious medical problem they should be seeking medical advise at the doctors. If there stupid enough to take advice here more fool them.
#2
I dont know, I quite often use the internet as a source to find out what is wrong with me as usually the dr will say drink some water n give it a few days. Unless its something serious like a bone break etc etc.

although I do have to agree on some of the diet threads the information such people give is quite shocking, do you have any links to said cases?
#3
its the misc tinks - cant expect hukd to ban it - otherwise certain deals would be banned - knife sets - in case someone goes out stabbing

milk on special - could be spiked etc

i can see where you are coming from - but really - most of them are tongue in cheek

dont take it upon yourself to worry about it - tis internet hon:thumbsup:

That's the thing though it does seem people are that stupid asking quite serious questions here BEFORE going to the docs or hospital which should be their first call.

It's not really a question of should it or should it not be allowed, I was interested in the liability HUKD or a poster may have if they gave incorrect medical advice and something went wrong, if a poster took it at face value with no disclaimer, so maybe I need to think of a better title

True:)

agree, especially what you said about them worrying, even when they dont ask for any credibility they take it seriously, its a community but theres few nasty ppl out there fear mongering

i got some good advice only yesterday on a medical related issue...but of course i had an idea myself and checked with the chemist as well.

If your stupid enough to ask then listen solely to advice of strangers then well i think you can guess...
[helper]#9
As Adam says any one with a bit of commonsense would know not to follow blindly advice on the internet. I think it would be difficult to police - I think a more practical solution is just to sign post people to officially supported websites that hold information for the public like NHS Choices....

keep posting them, i find them a good source of entertainment

+1 The entertainment value is priceless.....

...FYI, if anyone has chest pains then the last thing you should be doing is sitting in front of a PC typing up a thread to post on a consumer forum.........

I know bonkers isn't it?:whistling:

Why is asking about chest pains silly? Not everything is a bloomin' heart attack, or means you are going to die, like NHS Direct. I've got a sore arm HEART ATTACK GO TO HOSPITAL but it's because someone gave me a dead arm DON'T CARE, HEART ATTACK

He just wanted to know what the various options it could have been, seems the most popular was heartburn. No point clogging up the doctors and hospitals with silly little things all the time.
#19
Nah don't see the problem, if someone wth a serious medical condition is daft enough to come on here looking for serious medical advice then its probably natures way of telling them they aren't really cut out for this world after all.

But that is what they'd rather you do. They much prefer someone to come in with something 'silly' then someone with a real problem or rather than have to pick up a body instead.

It is their job after all and they are far more qualified to do that in person than anyone here on a forum can do. :)

But whilst your sitting in there with your little problem, there's someone sitting outside who does have a real serious problem.

I ain't been to the doctors in 10 years, nor taken any sort of medication in that time.

That's why they assess people and prioritse.

How can you tell by a internet post if someone is genuinely ill?

Yes I am, which is why I always say in some form or another, go and get checked out, asking on a forum is madness, I have never ever and never would give anyone a medical diagnosis or attempt to second guess a dr's one on here as you can't.

So I don't need to prove myself and why the hell would I to you, someone who seems to have a heck of a chip on your shoulder.

Me being a nurse is exactly WHY I get so annoyed with people playing medical gods on here, so move along, it's boring, awaits pics or your lying  YAWN

I've locked this thread now
After reading it I've concluded that I need to seek medical advice due to the headache it gave me :whistling:
Who knows - one day a serious thread in Misc may remain a serious thread
Thanks for posting tinkerbell28 and trying to raise a serious issue

It was, I asked for it to be locked as it was turning into a scrap/dig/off topic and it's fb after all for a few, but I was asked if I wanted it cleaned up and re-opened which I said yes, as it's something I think is quite serious tbh, *serious face on*:|:)

sorry tinks but i dont think there are any topic/threads on the forum that could be classed as "serious" yes people may have good intentions of starting a serious debate but at the end of the day, this isnt the place for seriousness

keep it shallow:)

seriously a lot of serious' in this post

Yeah I know indeed I think if people are daft enough to ask Misc of a shopping site, about ailments before a dr, then they kind of are a bit daft.

I suppose my point and hence it being in FB was where do HUKD stand,as a lot of sites ban medical advice threads/chats or those that do have them such as fitness and pregnancy sites tend to have disclaimers, but I suppose that's admins issue really.

So yeah I would of posted it in misc if not for the above really, but you are right:)
banned#33
i do sorta agree with you tinks, but only sorta, like others have said its misc and i personally dont think anyone takes the advice given of a stranger on an internet forum, although i cant forget the encouragement given to the man who was gonna take his own life, without the encouragement from those on the net would he have actually done it
