got an example as I havent a clue what you're on about?

surely no-one would trade a £50 item for a £10 one anyway.

Hamster threads?

Agreed!

Personally i don't see the point of the things & they seem to be in every shop just now!

yawn.

Same happened with MW2... get over it and move on.

Considering the amount of absolute cack spouted in Misc the hamster threads are at least somewhat on topic.

I would have been bothered, but these days misc is a mess anyway. Let them continue I say!

^^^ having said that, how about a new category "Latest Craze" then we could block them out?

sorry I thought you were discussing the multitude of threads in misc for some reason.

In hindsight: I agree.

ASB will be along in a minute, but usually if you report these threads they disappear quickly. I've not visited the FS board for a while, but if what you describe is going on, then thats a little bit off.

Its not really doing any harm is it?
If someone wants to do a trade thats way over the top thats their problem surely

i reported a thread yesterday where a member was offering a hamster for a new sealed wii fit game, one rrp of £10 other rrp of £16, but nothing was done, had this for been for anything else it would have been removed, what leeway are we giving here, if i could get a hamster for £10 could i trade for something of say RRP of £25

thats fine then, make it acroos the board for everything, wipe the RRP out and let everyone make a bit, theres lots of things one can get that others cant, so we either aloow it for all or not at all, not suspend some for doing this, whilst others are allowed

of course you can. Its up to both parties to accept a trade. RRP is irrelevant if both sides are happy with the trade

Say I bought Modern Warfare 2 which has an RRP of £54.99, then using your logic then I cant trade it for fifa10 (rrp £34.99)

I saw this thread, and as Csiman has stated I think this is why the mod's didn't answer or do anything about it.

RRP is still in play.

you have done it the other way round, try and buy a lower priced game adn trade it for a game double the price, you would get your thread locked up

I never thought the hamsters would sell out the way they have. I managed to get hamsters in stock no problem when i bought mine, its the rest that i had trouble with! I had too many hamsters and sent one back to the catalogue it came from last month before they were in short supply. Im gutted now as i could have offered it to someone on here that needs one

never seen a thread EVER get locked for that reason.

So if I have FIFA10 and say I'm after MW2, then it should be locked despite FIFA10 being around £30 cheapest and MW2 being around £26 cheapest at the moment.

Bizarre thread this one!

Did you lose out on some hamsters then?

lol, no my daughter a little old for those now

So we cannot sell for above rrp, but we can trade above rrp, yeah? Wow this well opens the door up for a little money making
banned#18
Whilst we won't allow anyone to sell above the price they paid for an item, who are we to force the other member to accept a higher valuation on their item, e.g.

I have go go hamster @ £10, You have wii fit plus initially purchased new @ £16. You value your item still at £10, I value my item at £10 therefore I am happy to trade. Some may argue this is profiteering when comparing new for new (in some cases it might be if both items shrink wrapped) but we can't possibly get involved in every valuation. We will however act if the items are resold at a higher price than purchased (p&p in addition to purchase price).

Anyone thinking of exploiting the profiteering rule will be covered by our bulk sales/trader like status policy. I don't think we need to do much further, although I do understand the concerns.

so i can purchase something, and post a thread and ask for something knowingly alot more expensive, and its up to the other person if they want to deal yeah?

I know you don't want the answer from me but why not, how many times have we seen that happen and people say no. The OP will likely be asked to place a value on there item in the OP price, and the trader will either ask for money on top or none if they are happy to trade for various reasons?:)

Prime example with a sale here Same happens in trade a lot.

so why ask for a price when its a trade only? And had that person been asking for a wii fit balance board it would have been closed, why?

adma i am not on about sales, i am on about trades of new items that have an rrp, not second hand goods

Thought I'd explained the first bit above.

I don't think it's relevant still, if there fine with the trade then theres no real problem, I can see where your going with the profiteering, but I wouldn't be suprised if half the stuff that comes on these forums hasn't been sold on and still made a profit, my comment is also irrelevant, but what I'm saying is no one is forcing the trade nor are they breaking any rules trading at the price of the item for a higher item, I seen it done before and paid more on top, but made no mention of it in the OP when trading. It's just more admin needed to go around and solve this small problem. Just report them as we know you do.

If there happy with the trade I don't see the problem, and tbh these things I've heard are becoming rare and people will see it as a fair trade in there opinnion.:)

again, why the need for a price if it is a trade? I assume it is for a like for like trade, as far as i can see it is members abusing the fs boards but your right no one is overly bothered, but it makes a mockery of it all, will say no more

please lock up

Because as I mentioned before it's a reference point for the trade or rather a value on the item. If they value the item as the same it's again irrelevant.

No ones bothered because it's not really effecting anyone. I have traded things higher value for lower, therefore are they taking me for a ride. No it's my choice.
