Lots of thread spoiling in that thread. Question seemed fair enough.

maybe after opening an alias account before the mod felt it was questionable from past behaviour, and as moderators i believe they can ask what they like

Really? So because you have something twice, you are automatically subjected to questioning to be a trader?

You think thats fair?

Linky?

perhaps if this is the case, a pm from the mod would have been more appropriate?

not going to link, one it would take me forever to find and two it really isnt fair, but maybe a pm to the mod about this may have been more appropraite too ;-)

I just think we need to 'feedback' to the mods when they do things that don't seem right ;-)

The mod hardly had the seller in a headlock and shining a 100 watt bulb in his face.
It was a simple question that needed a simple answer.

i think a certain mod has had enough crap thrown at him in the last month, rather than these continaul threads why not question admins rules, not those that carry them out

Seller does have multiple copies of more than one item.............

Admin is doing members a courtesy by having FS/FT- it would make Admins and the Mods life a great deal easier if they just close it.
Probably best to co-operate if you want to keep it.....

the mod jumped on another person asking the question - ganging up perhaps?

How about manners from the mod afterwards? Seemed rather harsh to me. If someone spoke to me like that in the street, I'd give it right back to them, but on here its one rule for the mods, and another for the 'minions' is it?

Question is with *some* of the mods being like this, isn't it just better to close it?

If its that much hassle, don't bother having it :)

You accept the terms of what a mod has to do when you accept the job - if its that hard to keep civil, don't do it, simple as that

Because of the way they are carried out.
Its not a witch-hunt. I would have done this if it had been ANY other mod on here too, but in reality most mods are good at communicating.

Like I said, this is a feedback forum, and as such I am providing feedback. Like anything, people will agree or disagree with me - end of.
If its not pointed out, people will be non the wiser

I can see where the mod is coming from albeit his 2nd reply is rather abrupt but if the question is to ascertain wether or not its trader like activity then there are tonnes of members who should face similar questioning in their threads.
banned#15
Members listing in fs/ft should always ensure that questions do not go unanswered. Once may be an oversight, twice is not acceptable. Threads get bumped to the detriment of others due to questions being repeated and ignored. Whilst not being deliberate, I make no apology for appearing abrupt. I only intend to make myself clear, understood and consistent, in order to ensure the vast majority of trades continue in a fast flowing and smooth order within the current framework.

Let's not discuss individual cases.

Regarding multiple copies, it's easy done and most will have genuine reasons. We just want to ensure that when asked, a member gives us a satisfactory response.

Threads may be locked as an incentive to respond, moreso if we have a question that has gone unanswered.

Upon receiving a response, we'll unlock - perhaps investigating further if the needs dictate.

If a trader was ever deemed unsafe, the thread would remain locked and sanctions applied. In the event of a suspected rule breach, we may decide to unlock until we have sufficient and conclusive proof.

Fair and safe trading remains our priority in this forum.

I don't understand why he can no longer trade any games on any platform.:?

I've added an additional sentence to the reason for closure and highlighted the particular area of concern. The OP is aware of our reason.

This thread will remain open should general matters of concern to the OP remain unanswered.

I don't get that either, half the stuff on fs/ft has been bought "low" on here through various deals so now anyone who has bought say a cheap 360 and a few games via deals on here cannot sell them later on as its trader like activity.

I'll be honest it just seemed as if from the very start the mod took a dislike to the op or the way the thread was highlighted and was determined to get some sort of "result" however tenuous.

You cannot use this forum as a vehicle for making profit(s). By all means, resell your items you no longer require, try and get a few quid back or trade for another item. Buying low elsewhere and selling higher here is not acceptable.

Your final point is however unfounded. I'm consistent in my approach to all threads for the reasons previously stated.

so that means rather than selling above the rrp being deemed as profiteering it is now the lowest price that an item has ever been on sale at even say if that price was a one off sale and is no longer available.
for example when cod 6 comes out and say tesco have it on sale for £25 for launch day only then all copies of cod 6 from then on would have to be sold on here for no more than £25 otherwise someone selling it could be deemed as profiteering.

edit: I'll stand by my final point as you even quoted in the thread were the op said he bought the games cheaply when he was out and about, but never mentioned that point and in fact reopened the thread deeming it to be ok. I'm not going to get into a slanging match with a mod if you say there wasn't then so be it.

If the member bought the item as a result of a deal on here and sells at a profit, then thats a clear breach of the fs/ft rules re profiteering.

If sold for less than the purchase price, then that's fine. It really is that clear and simply defined.

As for the final point, clear cut cases where we have proof of trader like activity, e.g. buying low and selling high to members on here, conflicts with our fs/ft vision of being a forum where we allow members to trade their excess personal belongings.

So therefore it isn't ok for me to buy say grid on the 360 when shopto had it for £8, play it for a bit then see that it still goes on sale on here for around tenner and so sell it on here for £10. That is against the rules.

If that is correct then how on earth can you check wether or not I did actually get it for for less than I'm selling it on and will everything now be subject to price checks and pics of the receipt to show no profiterring is happening.

Correct (unless of course your £10 included a contribution of at least £2 p&p.

We go on information we have at hand or can obtain easily. If that information is not at hand, then it's not something we'd pursue, other than making sure the listing complies with the fs/ft rules. Of course it happens, no doubt about it, but if we have the information at hand that proves this, we will not turn a blind eye.

But with the mods treating answers to questions as 'bumps' and locking threads left right and centre for using more than the permitted number of bumps, this new statement could mean threads having to be closed after a couple of queries, before an op gets a decent chance to sell the item.

What this thread has taught me is that next time I take advantage of a hot deal posted on here, I'll be sure not to post in the thread (to thank the op etc), just incase I ever decide to sell the item on - wouldn't want you cross referencing the two threads

Some moderating decisions need to be done by the users of the forum as some things cant be done by a single mod.

Also, whats with the instant locking of a fs/ft thread that hasnt got any pictures in?

All forums within HUKD are mainly self regulating. Members do the vast majority of reporting and mods action as appropriate.

As for locking fs/ft threads without pics. This will quite often happen when high value items are listed and inevitably lead to multiple picture requests which the OP cannot fulfill at present. This is to stop unfair promotion of the thread to the detriment of other properly compiled listings.

So in the case of this thread, someone reported the guy for not answering a question? or was that you just being you?

Adding a pic when asked or when they can get one shouldnt count as unfair promotion. Its silly to think that it is. Also, by posting that the thread is locked, and then again when it gets unlocked not bumping the threads anyway?

More fuss over nothing at all.

All that's needed now is for ASB to start being called a troll and the HUKD lynch mob has ganged up on it's new target.

I understand what u are saying, but can't you see the reasoning behind all the threads? People are not making threads for no reason..

Maybe a little social skills are required and people may not think they are being dealt with by a propper ee or!

Agreed, he may just be enforcing rules set out by a higher power, but it's the way and mannor they are enforced that have prompted many a thread..

I can only speak for myself but perhaps this is why there seems to be quite a build up of anti aSB feeling of late? It is just as easy to make yourself clear and be consistent in a nice and friendly manner without appearing (read:being) abrupt.

I really dont understand people on here,Everyone acts like they are paying for a service when in reality they should be grateful they are allowed to trade there unwanted items for free,If people are so upset why not just take your things to Ebay and pay their extortionate fees,As for people buying 2 copies of the same game by mistake and never opening either of them does anyone really believe that, I think the mods do a really good ob of stopping people getting ripped off as many people on here are not too bright,
