Happens to us all but if they are a truly good deal they go hot anyway once the first 5 minute cold voters move on. :)

makes me laugh how many people criticise the voting system - it works fine, and the idiot voters never succeed - it always ends up around the temperature it should do in the end.

the point is surely, its a deals site-people shouldnt post just to get heat-if they post a deal to let everyone know that a deal is available, then it really doesnt matter whether it goes hot or cold does it as long as the information has been shared?

yes, there are some who just vote cold for no reason, but sometimes I think we need to remember that it is any individuals RIGHT to decide whether something is hot or not. As sy says.the genuinely good deals go hot no matter what the habitual cold voters do.

occasionally,I think some people post deals that they consider hot and then get quite irate when it gets voted cold, but it should be remembered that everyones opinion is different.

we (posters) get nothing for getting hot or cold, but the point is, if people have voted it cold, others wont look at it as much as they will if its hot. I know because ive done this myself, i see something cold and pass it by becuase i assume (esp when i first joiend the site) that it was a poor deal.

The point of hot or cold is price, is it a good deal or not, and while it might not be a good deal for somebody, is the price cheaper that they can find? if not, why cold? why not just pass it by altogteher. infact, why click on it in the first place?

I only look at items i am intrested in in the title!

Fail.

Hot/Cold is based on users opinions of a deal, based on price, availability, reputation of the retailer, number of stores nearby and many many more things.

it works well.

Generally even some of the hottest deals ever posted initially get cold votes. I suspect some people vote a deal cold if its not something they are interested in or if its a really good deal they vote them cold so it doesn't make it on to the hot page so they can get more for themselves...

BUT as others have said, if its a good deal the hot votes soon mount up and it gets the temp it deserves..............

What do you mean fail? i did not know this was a test?

So you're saying its fair for somebody to look at for example a gutar even although they cant play and know nobody who can, and vote cold JSUT because they cant play it? even if its for sale at 1p?

Surely a reason would be a good thing to include- vote cold then a popup asking for a small reason - ie "price too dear" - thats all im asking for - so we have an idea of why they are going cold and not having to guess.

I think people are miss understanding what i am meaning here.

When you vote cold, i am asking if its possible to include a box below, like the comments box, to give a simple reason of why you beleive this to be cold.

If its a scam deal, say scam, if its a poor price, you can put poor price, most people vote but dont comment so it means we all have to guess at why, esp if we see something, WE think its a good deal but infact the reason its cold is because the price is too high or its a con.

It's been brought up a MILLION times before. Forget it, and move on.

but there is simply no sense in you passing a deal by because its cold m8-especially when you have already stated that people vote cold for no reason-people who only look at hot deals are not using the site to its full potential-you should read EVERY deal and decide for yourself.

did make me laugh out loud though

unfortunately this happens quite a bit thats why its done for most people if they see cold they just vote even colder not even looking at the deal, there's a few regular people that do it and its the only thing thats spoils the site. I've asked why we cant just have a hot voting process so no one can sabutage deals i.e if you feel its a good deal vote if not just skip that way the true worth of a deal becomes apparent.

you'd then be moaning that the deals don't get hot enough.

the voting system works and 99.9% of the time a deal ends up at the right temp.

i can see where your coming from on this one i had a guy vote one of mine cold because it was for ps3 and not for 360 didnt bother me though as hit over 100' thanks to other voters as someone said the if its a great deal the majority of the serious voters will get it hot
#19
Some people do vote cold when they really mean 'I'm not interested'. If you vote cold too often you will get a sanction or even a ban from HDUK. I think the system works most of the time. I don't use the temp of something as a gauge of whether it is worth looking at. I prefer to read the comments and decide.

They could implement some kind of auto checking on votes. Say, if a user votes Cold 10 times in a row, then there power is removed whilst the votes are reviewed. If votes are found to be genuine, then carry on as normal, else, power is docked.

it is already monitored like this already. I had my voting powers taken away for a few weeks cos I voted a mods deals cold cos they were taking over the site (play.com CD sale).
