ooh get you ;-)
[admin]#4
Some of you may have the same voting power. It just depends on how it is recalculated.

There will be more members with decreased though as we are making it a little harder to get max vote power and thus it should be a bit harder to get deals hot now as there will be fewer power voters.
#5
seems like a good idea as a lot of the younger members dont seem to be able to grasp deals that may not appear or arent quite as good as they appear to be resulting in some deals heated to beyond belief with no good reason in some cases

earn more power when you understand the littlewoods voucher deals and store specific/ 1 off deals etc arent all that, its a learning process this deals malarkey y'know

What is the max voting power? Is it still 9?
#7
how was it calculated previously?

btw: im still a 9 degree gangsta!

I'm only a 6 now. I've told everyone i'm a 9, too :(
#12
Yep, I have a difference. I was a 4 and now I'm a 5.

Go me!

It would be nice to see how it was calculated before and how it is calculated now. From what I could gather when I asked a fairly key item was how hot your posted deals were - I assume this has been tweaked and is now slightly more important

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/430629/my-degrees-of-heat-is-going-down-as/?t=430629

I'm still 9 degrees, must be that frijj going past 500 :w00t:

i dont think thats fair on you peodude

you put up deals - not just post in misc

the site is a deal site - so i think people who put deals up should get better voting power - building it up over time

ok we know the misc is very popular with a lot of people - but they can determine whether or not a deal is going to go hot - and sometimes it looks pretty unfair to me - hope i am not alone in this way of thinking

which when you look at it is rather unfair as they are not putting deals up

one springs to mind instantly - the coke one - where you had to buy 750++ cans of coke to get a x box or something - that went to minus100+ in minutes - totally unfair - cos in the end it was 1500+ cos the guy did in effect put a great deal up - if somewhat wacky and teeth destroying

as discussed on a lot of occasions when someone who votes cold on a deal - there should be an auto box to say why
[admin]#18
Posting in misc only and racking up rep points won't help much with getting vote power.
[helper]#19
Holly - according to this (taken from Emma's help thread) the main factor are deal posts - I suspect the weightings have changed slightly..

There are several factors which dictate the impact your vote will have, as explained by Admin below:

admin:
The voting rep is based on the temperature of deals you have submitted, the time registered, number of posts, and forum rep. The first is by far the largest and the other factors are there to balance it out and give some voting rep to people who spend their time helping others etc in the forum.

So if you want to have a larger impact voting for deals, your best bet is to start posting your own hot deals, and the hotter they are voted, the more impact you will have when voting.

But if people can't get voting power until they post hot deals, and the hot deals won't get hot because people don't have enough power. It's a viscous circle

you said it better - thats the point - why should the ''haters'' have that voting power to do it in the first place

argument for having to give a valid reason for voting cold

Most deals go cold initially - if its a bad deal it will stay cold but if its a good deal the overwhelming majority will vote it hot and far outweigh the serial cold voters....

this has been suggested over and over in feedback but I just don't think its workable.......If I have to type something I could just type "sldjla dladjladjla dladjldj " - if I have type something meaningful (who is going to read all these to check?) I could just put "poor product"

i've gone down to 4. wtf?! why dont we have a page that tells you xxx posts = 4 degrees, xxxxposts = 6 degrees etc
[admin]#28
Because we don't want everyone to start gaming the system. We want to give enough information that people can understand what will improve their power without spelling it out so that too many people are motivated to game it.

Don't really understand why as i post deals when i find them, comment on deals, don't vote cold on any deals (unless it's REALLY bad, but just generally dont vote if i dont think it's a hot deal) etc??
