kids clothes wanted threads being bumped to death recently by the usual suspects

yep-just split the 2 sections-surely not difficult.

Why? Doesn't bennefit either the buyer or seller. Just means the user would start another thread causing the same problems and likely get the same things offered again, also thus breaking the rules with the 7 day listing rule. The problem isn't the wanted thread itself rather the content and the person usually asking for just about everything, positive impact would be seen from seperation of the forum into two sub sections which has been mentioned wouldn't really effect the system too much as its already set up in such a manor to do so; Also giving the bumping system a lot more effect.

for any other website on the planet it would be a simple task but when the crowning glory 2 months after an upgrade is an off red go button then I think they'd be struggling.

I don't think this is as big a problem as the multiple unlimited active threads for each user nonsense however maybe by limiting the amount of open threads you can have then it may cut down on the amount of frivalous wanted threads as well.

Indeed to the second though I live in hope this is a simple change.

Not really complaining about the amount of wanted threads more there content, theres been a few wanted toys for christmas started up over the last week or so and they are just bump fests, with different people wanting the same sort of items, for the same sort of age groups and they are usually responded to by the same few offering the same items, which is not really a negative thing its just the fact that there so open to what is actually wanted so lead to a bump fest. Wanted threads are meant to be "I want xx item" or "I want several xx items" Not I want items for this age group for christmas, could list anything from Clothes to electronics.

Literally up 3 mins already bombarded with the same few again and again. Sorry to pick on a thread, but they take over the bumps from other legit threads.

totally with you adam-I have no problem with "iphone wanted" or "psp wanted",but "stuff for a 3 year old?" and then to ask for stuff for kids of 5/6 different age groups in one wanted thread is ridiculous imho.

Exact same thread I have just posted, limitation to what's being asked shouldn't needed to be added. But as you said Barky these threads just ask for everything apart from the kitchen sink.

Just so people don't think I'm picking on clothes.

This one is straight to the point, and is asking for several things but isn't creating a bump fest just a normal deal conversation which is totally fine.

Ive reported that thread because its just asking for a bumpfest. You arent allowed to just ask for "blurays" or "games" are you?-mods will say you have to list specific titles you are looking for so the thread doesnt incur endless bumps, yet you can ask for "clothing" for SIX different ages in one thread?

User in there won't name names even though its obvious has replied to various threads offering the same items, you can't cross bump that much if you have an open thread. Hard to admin, but the wanted thread is open to abuse.

and compounded by the fact that they start a bumpfest thread when they cant pay for anything til thursday! If you arent allowed to start a for sale thread until you have the item in hand, you shouldnt be allowed to start a wanted thread when you dont even have the money to pay!

To be fair Sigmas done the deed on that one.

I know where you're coming from with that, but on the flip-side what if they started six different wanted threads (one for each age group)..... which is worse??

No point going on about it anyway, as no rules are being broken and I can't see them being changed, especially seeing as on fo.lk there are separate FS / FT / Wanted tabs.

surely the fact that sigma has locked the thread shows that it IS against the rules? My point was it just isnt SPECIFIC enough-I have no problem with the clothes threads as long as they clearly state what is wanted. The example I already used-i.e.-you arent allowed to ask just for "blurays" or "games"-you must state specific titles you want should apply to clothing too. The fs/ft/wanted boards are great-if people want clothing, then fine,no problems here, but they could state whether they want jackets/trousers/dresses/what colours etc-not too much to ask.

Yeah sorry, was getting my wires crossed and was talking more about Boothy's original comment about the number of clothing wanted threads, rather than that particular one.

But going back to the one you mentioned; if the OP of that thread decided to now start a thread for 1-2 yrs t-shirts, 2-3 yrs t-shirts, 1-2 yrs trousers and so on that's a hell of a lot worse, even though it's not breaking any rules.

AVForums have it right..... one thread, and only one bump every 10 hours. But like I said, no point discussing it as it'll never get changed. The structure of the site is no good for selling stuff with the number of members now, and when I list stuff on here I don't expect it to sell any more; if it does, then great..... if not, I'll list somewhere else.

Yeh Paul last point isn't worth mentioning. :)

Giving this a bump as the Wanted/FS seperation still hasn't been answered on whether it can be implemented.
