I've seen someone get into trouble for that in the past but also i've seen emma , I think, check it out a similar occurrence and it wasn't just one person. I hope that reasons were given for the cold votes.
Have you reported it?
#2
Maybe a mechanism could be implemented to prevent someone from voting in rapid succession... at least without looking at the details of the deal.

How do you know this?

Also, are they deservedly cold?

It does not seem so and no comments have been made by the cold voter/s. The disney deal is now heating up fast.

Reasons for voting cold could be:

Disney: Are these prices available at all stores?

Battlestar Gallatica: Poor deal submission, as it is lacking in any details.

National Express: Poor deal submission, as it is lacking in any details.

I wouldn't vote cold for the above reasons, but there is nothing to stop others.
Like has already been said, the OP should report this, or put it in Feedback, not Misc.

Thanks for highlighting this Dio :)

Looks like one person has voted all cold, probably for a reason, which will be investigated. Also, moved the thread to feedback.

I think its fair to give heat to your own post. If you didnt post it you wouldnt think it was a good deal. You are 1 of 100,000...if its a bad deal by general consensus then it will be shown after a little while.
Although, people voting cold is pathetic by just clicking cold. Its a little unfair. Probably puts some people off posting deals.

It's always a contentious topic - reasons for voting cold and I agree that if there are no definite rules then basically people can do what they want - except serial cold voting is against the code of conduct.
This is from the FAQs:
If you are cold voting a deal, it is good forum etiquette to post a note in the deal as to why you have done so. There is nothing more confusing to a new member, than to post a deal, only to see it go cold with no explanation. If you found the item cheaper elsewhere, please let us know where and how. If you have no interest or knowledge about the deal at all, please don’t vote cold, just move on.
HUKD has systems in place to detect serial cold voters, and it may lead to a ban from the forums, as it is against the code of conduct.

There is no reason that I can see or deduce from the, only positive, comments on these posts, or from the information in the OP, why they should have all been voted cold within a very short time of being posted.

Well done Dio:thumbsup:
Well done mod edi for prompt action:thumbsup:

If people are continuously voting cold for the heck of it, we will take action (such as blocking their votes for a while).

Please report if you see. :)

Same thing happened on the weekend with Rizla01 woolworths deal, it was spammed / expired and voted cold by some.:x

Bristoldeal and I reported it and asked for it to be unexpired...it's now got 2232 of heat and is this weeks hottest :-D.

Those that tried to scupper the deal for no reason should be banned

Everyone has one vote, who are you to judge that one person tried to 'scupper' a deal?
Serial cold voting is one thing, it can be proved, "Scuppering" a deal is subjective.

I only looked at that thread once when I believe it was bristoldeal that provided a link to it last week.
I thought it was a terrible deal thread, as it was just a huge copy and paste job.

If I had voted that thread cold, I would feel aggrieved if I was banned.

Oh, I'm famous! My Disney deal is mentioned! Lol!

Yes, the sale is a nationwide thing. If you look at the thread, it has heated up quite a bit and lots of people have managed to get some good bargains!

I never even noticed it went cold as after I posted it it went up a few degrees quite fast. I guess some people just are idiots who vote cold to everything.

Hi kimbyanne,

I only gave a reason why some may have voted it cold. I haven't voted either way, as I have no knowledge of the normal selling price, I don't go by the "75% off" etc.

I believe it helps people if when people submit "In store" deals, they put this in the opening post.
Only 4 people have said that they have been and got something, which I am not knocking, but not what I personally would describe as "loads".

Most deals go cold at 1st for some reason, to call a person an idiot for voting cold is unfair.

What's going on?

Unfortunately, it appears to be the way the forum has developed over recent years attracting thread-spoilers determined to ruin HUKD.

I've not posted many deals recently, partly because of that. I certainly don't read all the deals on here now, far too many which is a good thing, but the majority of deals I do read are deliberately spoilt usually by comparing to entirely different products, posting inaccurate information and/or just negative comments.

e.g. recent comments from one user alone, referring to different deals
"cheap tat"
"the thing is absolute ***** looks like it`s been made by a blind child in a cdt class"

Of the deals I have taken the trouble to post, I too have had all deals 'spoilt' often by people posting misleading information e.g. cheaper at so &so - a quick look at the website concerned shows the item is in fact more expensive at so & so.

Perhaps one reason so many negative comments are posted is because anyone voting cold are told to leave a comment as to why. This may lead to an unbalanced number of negative comments, leading others to think the same way. However, the request to leave such comment became necessary because some people were just voting everything cold - as shown in the example at the beginning of this thread.

I'm not sure what the answer is, if there is one, but the attitude some some members here, and I think it's only a small minority spoiling it for the rest, now makes me consider carefully before posting any deals. The tone in which the negative comments are made also makes the reading of other deals unpleasant.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way :-(

I think it's fair to link to different products if it gives the uninformed something else to think about.
I don't know what you mean by "entirely" different products.

If they post inaccurate information, this is usually corrected quite quickly by someone reading the thread.

If this is true, then point this out.

There are a lot of comments that I believe should be removed, but HUKD has decided to keep them.
