No, it's ok, I think it's a terrible idea! ;-)

A more dynamic temperature/frontpage system would be cool, but as you say it will keep developer busy and I'd really like him to be working on version 2 of the API (and finally 'fixing' the bloomin search!) :giggle:

not a good idea as deals posted over night have less viewers so will rise slower than those posted at 'peak' day times.

That wouldn't necessarily be a problem - as all deals will be voted on less at night. For example you could rank the deals over there temperature change over the last hour/3hours etc and update that information every 15 minutes...

Thinking about it its something that could be done externally using the API - have a system which polls for the newest 1000 deals (typically ~40 hours worth) every so often and ranks those which have risen sharply (and maybe even notifies users in some way).

some people seem to have too much time on their hands wanting everything changed on a daily basis

pointless idea

I think it's an interesting idea. Kind of like a movers/shakers list. So you can spot the fast moving stuff.

Personally, I think its a great idea, I have submitted 'deals' and they have become hot after a couple of months!! normally after the price had increased.
Maybe having an extra tab for the highest climber or quickest riser would benefit us bargain searchers?

and what about all the deals that are yet to even start and sometimes get ridiculously hot for no other reason than hype

not good or may as well call it the "hype" chart but many never not even materialise

That still happens with the current system - it could be added as an alternative view tab......so you'd still have Hot, Discussed, or New views...

It would happen more with the current system than a more dynamic system too. In the current system a deal either hits the front page - and takes off accordingly - or doesn't make it - so there aren't many deals that end at the lower end of the frontpage threshold (say 100-150degrees)... With a more dynamic system I'd expect to see more deals have their moment than do at present.

I certainly don't agree with casparwhite's "pointless idea" - seems like the typical negativity he likes to voice over any suggestion in feedback - and its nice to see Admin underline that fact... :)

ive given my reasons why i think its pointless regardless of who agrees or disagrees with me and ill continue to voice my opinion on any other matter i like on a public forum. even though i have no idea who you are, there is no need to judge me on nothing other than your meaningless and unfounded opinion.

feel free to ignore my reasoning and go on some personal attack tho...........it is feedback:roll:

i agree....why change something that works...i mean will it really get much better..if u wana see whats the hottest climbing deal then just look under 'dicussed' tab as chances are the ones that are the main movers have thie highest amount of comments.

also gives chance of deals to become hot that maybe posted at same time as other super hot deals.... ppl could be distracted by a hotter deal (researching and buying it) and therefore ur deal may need more time to heat up...its still a hot deal.. and at least it will come on hottest page at a time when maybe more people may pay attention to it.

anyone understand what im trying to say?! LOL!

Here is an example of a deal 3 months old now becoming hot (15 mins ago)..........

If its taken 3 months to get there is it a hot deal?

i have a feeling this is why the following has changed:)

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/482047/voting-power/

at the end of the day its the members that vote a deal hot or not

Should probably put a max time window on getting hot. Maybe 2 weeks?

If you make it 4 weeks that would co-ordinate with the time after which a deal can be re-posted. Sometimes a deal is posted and there is a cheaper offer so it doesn't get hot. A few weeks later the cheaper offer may have gone so the repost might get hotter....

this is getting confusing now as a mod has stated in another feedback thread deals 4/5/6 weeks old should be bumped and not reposted:thinking: as a member reposted 1 and had it removed
