What is the bump feature ?? Where is it ? !!
banned#2
there isnt such a thing as bump feature, a bump is something that knocks your post back to the top, every time someone posts in a thread that thread goes back to the top, so every post is a bump, what the 2 bump rule refers to is the op bumping their post to the top just to get it back to the top of the page

BUMP would be the acronym.

Not sure what I was trying to say now lol - sorry about that

Hmmm. Should there be a "BUMP" facility then?! A button that can be pressed twice on a thread to bump it up to the top.

I doubt it's needed. :) A quick post does the trick, and a button wouldn't stop people doing it more than twice.

It would, if the button only worked twice per post...:whistling:

But they could still post a bump-style reply in the thread?

No. This action would be banned. You have a button, you shouldn't bump at all. Would cut down on lots of excess threads all over the forum...

It'd still only bump them twice though? So no more/fewer threads?
#17
But it could automatically bump the thread up, without actually adding to the thread list?

Hmm. Most likely a lot of unneccessary coding. :-(

A reply which brings sufficient additional information to the thread is not considered as a bump. This could be a reply to a question, the acceptance/decline of an offer, haggling a price up (within reason and not above the asking price), adding pictures, etc.

A bump would be either the word "bump", "any offers?", "anyone?", "i'm really eager to sell this", etc. Something that doesn't provide suitable relevant information.

anything that can be added to the op should be seen as a bump, answering questions arent seen as bumps, most of those that are happy to abuse the FS rules will find a way of doing it whatever is put in place

Price drops should also be seen as bumps in my opinion, but as with most things it is up to the mods discretion

Yeh, I thought this was the case (ta Ducky and Sassie)

Though I dont think a price drop should be considerred a bump - provided it was a reasonable drop. Yeh I know - define "reasonable".

i think reasonable falls under the discretion category

So, would that be this for sale thread?. Looks that way to me. Reported it, but no joy......

Boydent, I looked at this earlier, it looks fine to me. I have added ti to my subscribed threads to check on any more bumps, and will respond if necessary. Just because you don't see anything being done, doesn't mean something hadn't been done. Thanks for the report.

You kidding me right? Two uses of the word bump, and a price drop. That's exactly what Duck says constitutes a bump, so that's 3 bumps :?
Edit: I take it back. It's not what Duck said, but what Sassie said. It's not clear if a price drop is a bump. Fair enough.

As for cos i don't see anything doesn't mean anything is happening, fair enough, don't expect folks to report if they don't get any kinda feedback in anyway. It's just not transparent

Ok thanks. And as I say, we do appreciate the reports, they are a big help on the for sale forums, and this goes out to everyone who actively reports. Thanks.

Do you mean in the original post Sass? If that's your question, not sure, if you mean later on, i.e. in a subsequent post, seems you can adjust your price.....does that answer your question? Sure a mod will help :p

yes i mean in the first post? surely if its editable (there goes that word again) then there is no need post again, to me its just another free bump, one that will be abused by some and for others they will get banned
#31
I reported this:- http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/162203/samsung-s500-5mp-digitial-camera-3x

three clear bumps with the use of the word bump but nothing happened..

Ok.....

i'll go find an item i had for sale on here, and see if i can edit it......mind, if you do edit it, you really would need to post a new post in your thread to say you've lowered the price, else how would folks know.

As for it being a free bump, i am with you on that one.....you could just keep adjusting the price, pennies at a time for example.....sounds like we need another definitive as opposed to a maybe rule

Yes you can change the price in the OP.....

I sold THESE for £3.50 a shot. As you can see, now £2.50. Bargain :)

one of the reasons i stopped doing anything on there, some reports got acted on and others dont, some get banned others dont, and felt it was unfair and didnt want any part in the unfairness

Lol, in response then to the question in the OP.
It causes chaos :)
